The Three Degrees are one of the golden voices of soul and disco music. Many of their hits are made thanks to their beautiful harmony and delivery. “Tie U Up” is from their 1989 project titled “..And Holding” – produced by Buzz Amato and John Abbey. A departure from their high energy disco numbers of the late 70’s and early 80’s and onto a funk-driving bass and kick drums. A touch of the Jimmy Jam – Terry Lewis feel from Janet Jackson’s “Control” project. This one gives the ladies a bit of defiant love and dedication to a heart. The chorus is self-explanatory and gives this piece a touch of sleaze but still elegant thanks to these three ladies.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental versions of “Tie Me Up” and re-secured it for this ReStructure Mix. There are some new beats and percussion added to guide the funk of the groove into a hardcore dance track.
