ReStructure Mix Update (7/31/21) “I’m Your Boogie Man” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Digital Game

Digital Game is an Italian disco project with Alessandro Novaga leading the project. They released three singles in the early and mid-80’s which were covers of K.C. and The Sunshine Band – with the electronic twist. “I’m Your Boogie Man” is their 1983 initial release which gives the bouncy rendition from the disco horns of the original version. Vocoders dictate the verses and chorus in an obviously robotic flare to give off a camp-like feature. The sequencers here are the sticks that make this Italian disco piece play out as a sort of mystery. It is clever and hard to resist for anyone who can remember doing “the bump” to the original.

I have taken the 12” vocal and dub mix of Digital Game’s “I’m Your Boogie Man” and recreated a new kind of mischief for this ReStructure Mix. There are more flash edits to make the notes jump out into the crowd and a breakdown for the close.

REISSUE: "Sharks Are Cool, Jets Are Hot" by The Quick - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The Quick is a dance pop band from England - Colin Campsie and George McFarlane. Their 1982 album "Fascinating Rhythm" is one of the early synth pop albums which followed the departure of disco. "Sharks Are Cool, Jets Are Hot" is the first single release in 1979 and there was some excitement among DJs and dance floors with this pop edge and hardcore disco synthesizers and percussion. It was produced by Rhett Davies who also worked with Eno and Roxy Music.

I have taken the 1961 musical "West Side Story" and used the borrowed theme from "Sharks Are Cool, Jets Are Hot" to create a new experience for both the disco classic and the William Shakespeare inspired American musical.

The film was directed by Robert Wise

REISSUE: “Medley: ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.-‘America’” by The Ring – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The Ring is a disco project from producer/arranger Marcus Barone. A club hit in 1979 titled “Savage Lover” brought on the LP by the same name in 1981. The electronic blend of electronic disco for a club feel offered some interesting tracks. One of my favorites is a medley which features “Theme from “Man From U.N.C.L.E.” a 60s secret agent television series and also “America” from the musical “West Side Story” from 1961.

I have blended the original media sources for this Disco Video Mix to create a fast and furious drama and dance piece that works with the down beat piano of The Ring quite well.

“The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” was developed by Sam Rolfe

“West Side Story” was directed by Robert Wise

REISSUE: “Big Spender” by The Ritchie Family – Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The film "Sweet Charity" was my favorite film at the age of 13. So don't be surprised that when The Ritchie Family released "American Generation" in 1978 featuring a disco version of "Big Spender" I was ecstatic!

It crossed my mind to use snippets of the film with Shirley McClaine, Chita Rivera and Paula Kelly and sync their fabulous dance numbers (choreographed by Bob Fosse. Well here it is! No sweat. Just lots of excitement.

Hold on. This is the disco version - although it may not appear to be out of place.

REISSUE: “Tonight” by Gloria Gaynor – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Gloria Gaynor’s “Tonight” is a cover from the 1957 Broadway musical “West Side Story” and was featured on her “I Have A Right” LP from 1979. The masterful Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris production also features Doc Severinson on trumpet. This is a hidden treasure of Gloria's for many.

I have taken the theatrical film version from 1961 and created a Disco Video Mix encompassing the wonderment of the love between our lead characters and giving them a groove between both love and their first dance.

The film version stars Natalie Wood, Richard Beymer, Russ Tamblyn, Rita Moreno and George Chakiris – it was directed by Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise.

REISSUE: "If My Friends Could See Me Now" by Linda Clifford - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Linda Clifford's "If My Friends Could See Me Now" is a monumental disco track!

I can remember seeing Linda on a television special by Don Kirshner back in 1978 and realized that disco music had arrived. This remains one of the finest productions (Gil Askey) of the disco era and perhaps one of the most fitting performances by Linda Clifford, a very talented artist.

I was a big fan of "Sweet Charity" since I was 15, so hearing a disco version as a teenager with an arrangement completely new and invigorating was quite a thrill. The lyrics were written by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields and this dance version maintains the feel of the Broadway original with a whole new emphasis of interpretation.

ReStructure Mix Update (7/30/21) “Burnin; Hot” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jermaine Jackson

Jermaine Jackson is the oldest of The Jackson family and is also one of the successful solo artists of the 80’s. His work from a solo artist beginning in 1972 always displayed another talented man from the Jackson family. His 1980 project titled “Let’s Get Serious” contained another sensational dance track titled “Burnin’ Hot” which plays out just as it sounds. Another winding track with a funky baseline which builds into a rolling break full of energy. Produced by Jermaine and has some wonderful riffs which hold up the works where his success in the latter part of the 80’s gets real.

I have taken the album version of “Burnin’ Up” and rewired a new ReStructure Mix taking complete control over the breaks and flow of the new remix. There are several new segues into drop breaks and a winding fade out.

"Beat The Street" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sharon Redd - https://youtu.be/w9iVkLOF9jw

REISSUE: "Beat The Street" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sharon Redd

Classic disco music is recognized not only by name, but also by sound. It was 1982 when Sharon Redd, Eric Matthew and Darryl Payne introduced "Redd Hott" on Prelude Records. It was "Beat The Street" (released as the first single) which brought dance floors literally to their feet.

This track utilized the sound of synthesized tracks along with a simple orchestration to create a whole new breed of dance music for this period. Sharon was know to show up unexpectedly at New York clubs and pulled up to stage to perform this track along with others from her first LP simply titled "Sharon Redd" - with "Can You Handle It" being that hit track.

It was not long before Sharon proved to be not only a fantastic profile for disco, but also a fabulous entertainer. Her career moved throughout the mid 80's and slowly declined in the late 80's. Sadly, she passed in 1992 - but not without leaving us several dance numbers to keep her memory alive and respected.

My ReStructure Mix of "Beat The Street" is dedicated in Sharon's energy and also thanks to Galaxy558 for the request.

REISSUE: "Give Me Just A Little More Time" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Angela Clemmons

REISSUE: "Give Me Just A Little More Time" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Angela Clemmons

Angela Clemmons had a bit dance floor hit in 1982 with "Give Me Just A Little More Time" - produced by Paul Leka (Gloria Gaynor, Paul Mauriat And His Orchestra, Steam).

This track took dance floors by surprise - a cover of the Chairman Of The Board soul classic was perfect for pumping discotheques when disco was in transition. It kept the energy and flow which disco music was known for.

Ms. Clemmons had been working on backing choruses for artists like Kashif, and Cyndi Lauper - this hit gave her a chance to step out in front for a bit. And well worth it.

This ReStructure gives more essence to the beat and also a touching fade out for those who have hearts that melt easily.

REISSUE: "Boys Will Be Boys" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Duncan Sisters

Helen and Phyllis Duncan are Duncan Sisters - along with the disco producers, Ian Guenther and Willi Morrison. Their first solo album from 1979 would qualify as one of the best disco albums recorded.

"Boys Will Be Boys" is the second single from the LP and is a favorite among disco connoisseurs and followers of The Duncans from THP #2 and Sticky Fingers. The track has a Western feel with a twang here and there.

I have taken the 12" version and created a ReStructure Mix with a bit more of the bongo, bass and rhythm tracks - along with the wonderful vocals of the Duncan Sisters laid on heavy.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Nick and Lindsay - thank you for asking - it was fun!

REISSUE: “Thank God For Men” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Modern Rocketry

Modern Rocketry is a San Francisco based disco/high energy project from producers Ken Kessie and Morey Goldstein – and features on vocals Jo-Carol, Kathy Kennedy and Katie Guthorn. Their 1985 project featured several dance floor singles which were successful in helping to create the outline for high energy music. “Thank God For Men” is an anthem that follows the celebratory state of machismo and all about it lure. This one may have been the sequel to “It’s Raining Men” with the uplifting feel and gospel lingering. The full on electronic production is one of the style that the label Megatone Records was popular for during the early and mid-80’s.

I have taken the 12” remix version of “Thank God For Men” and rewired the track for this ReStructure Mix. The airy feel in the mix is now covered with some added percussion and pieces of the action disbursed in a new way.

REISSUE: “Lucky Tonight” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sarah Dash

Sarah Dash made “Sinner Man” from 1978 a track which pounded dance floors into a new diva-esque style of disco music with her incredibly powerful vocals. Her affiliation with Pattie Labelle and The Blue Belles (also known as LaBelle) left a mark which gave us an opportunity to feel more than soul – a unique style. “Lucky Tonight” is a piece from her recordings with Patrick Cowley’s label Megatone Records in San Francisco –a label which revived disco music again in the early 80s. The electronic high energy piece was always a favorite of mine and made my dance floors go wild!

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental to recreate a new movement for Sarah’s vocals and Cowley’s innovative and unique keyboard sound. This one builds a few times to leave dancers holding on to the edge of their dance floor. I have not only extended pieces of the instrumental but added a few new ad-lib breaks for the vocal. A special guest appearance is added by Jessica Lange from 1976’s adventure film, “King Kong” – good luck!

"Don't Leave Me This Way" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Carol Jiani - https://youtu.be/NmQvPnc5pS4

REISSUE: "Don't Leave Me This Way" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Carol Jiani

Carol Jiani has been giving her unique touch to dance music since the late 70s. Her vocals bring to mind a torch-like feel and powerful resonance. In 1981, her big high energy track "Hit and Run Lover" gave her name a moment in dance floor history which is referred to frequently.

"Don't Leave Me This Way" is a cover of Thelma Houston's classic - in Carol's own flavor and execution. A great variation to bring the song into a mellow and haunting feel. During the early 80s the song was covered by many artists - this being one of my favorites for it's variance.

I have taken the song from the 1984 album "Dancing In The Rain" project - produced by Joe La Greca and Louis Toteda - and had created a ReStructure Mix to give this wonderful cover another place to spotlight Carol's talent and dedication to her fans and disco music.

REISSUE: "Heartquake" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Love Affair

Love Affair is an electronic dance project from producers Gilbert Di Nino and Leo Carrier released in 1979. Comprised of a formula familiar to disco classics as “Love Attack” by Ferrara and “Magnifique” by Charisma which includes heavy synthesizer waves of bass along with percussion and simple, yet curious vocal riffs. “Heartquake” has the chorus ensemble that displays a sensual and bold presence that works wonderfully over the keyboard breaks which exude an explosive edge. One of the early signs of high energy music in the works following the big disco production age.

I have taken the extended 12” version of “Heartquake” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix with a new arrangement which showcases the elements which work most in this swirling dance track. Drums are given the center stage again where they are injected in parts of this dance number. Homage to the high energy electronic period of dance music history.

REISSUE: "Heartbreak In Disguise" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pattie Brooks

Pattie Brooks is known for her onstage performance with lovely fans - I know her as one of the disco divas whom introduced the lush-sweet sound of disco anthems. "After Dark", "This Is The House Where Love Died", "Girl, Don't Make Me Wait" and "Party Girl" are the magic of disco which created the fantasy world that made dancers feel free.

Pattie's second album produced by Simon Soussan contained the sound which made disco mature and chic for the time period. Lots of percussion, strings and lovely songs about 'heartbreak' and 'love'. It was quite a moment in disco history.

I have taken the 12" remix of "Heartbreak In Disguise" (mixed by Bob Stone and Manny Slali) and have given it a new ReStructure Mix. Using most of the lush-strings and piano tracks I wanted to make this one not only lengthier, but also remind us of just how fabulous disco music was as it captivated hearts and feet!

Dedicated to Ms. Pattie Brooks - the lady of true disco feeling!

REISSUE: “Somebody Should Have Told Me” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Cissy Houston

Cissy Houston is gospel singer turned disco artist leaving a trail of dance hits in her unique soulful sound and the magic of producers, Michael Zager and Jerry Love. “Think It Over” from 1978 is the big single and album title which made disco music exciting during a big surge of dance fever around the world. “Somebody Should Have Told Me” is another single from the album which made as much sense as a dance hit as “Think It Over”- another big performance and Zager/Love foundation.

I have taken the version of “Somebody Should Have Told Me” from the 1979 album “Warning-Danger” – which featured an extended remix. This new ReStructure Mix is a work in dedication to Nick and Lindsay who are true lovers of the disco diva and music. Their request is fulfilled here in a new arrangement and added pieces of breaks and surprises. Thank you boys – you are inspirations!

REISSUE: “(I Know) I’m Losing You” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Uptown

Uptown is an electronic dance project from producer Scott Yahney. The project released a cover of the Motown classic, “(I Know) I’m Losing You” – recorded by The Temptations in 1966. The twist on the arrangement is a winner in itself – a Detroit soul production translated effectively in a pulsating street beat format. The vocals are another part of the magic where The Temptations soul rendition is disco-fied by a lyrical female chorus. It is one of the big sleep hits of 1983 and resurfaced again in 1989 with a killer remix to bring back this force again. This classic dance floor piece was one of the sleeper hits of its time and still brings it all back.

I have taken the 12’ vocal and instrumental of “(I Know) I’m Losing You” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix to give this one another beat to pound into your feet. More of the instrumental is blended to give more distance between the verses and new breaks.

REISSUE: "Look At You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - George Mc Crae

George Mc Crae exploded on the early disco scene with his monster soul hit, "Rock Your Baby" in 1974 - the LP was Produced by K.C. and the Sunshine Band's Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch and under Henry Stone's classic label T.K. Records.

"Look At You" is a track from the album which has the classic Casey/Finch guitar and groove sound - quite dreamy and funky. The song has always been the second choice for deejays and audiophiles as another hit and dance floor mover. I have ReStructured the track and extended it for a not only a deeper sound but also to pull more out of the great feel of the song.

Dedicated to Wendelien from The Netherlands

REISSUE: "Love Plane" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Skyy

Skyy is Anibal "Butch" Sierra, Bonny Dunning, Delores Dunning Milligan, Denise Dunning Crawford, Gerald Lebon, Larry Greenburg, Randy Muller, Solomon Roberts Jr., Tommy McConnell and Wayne Wilentz. A funk-disco band produced by Randy Muller (Brass Construction, Tamiko Jones, Funk Deluxe) and executed in the New York disco-funk style. Refreshing grooves with a touch of those swirling disco strings. Much of their music is recognizable with the raw groove and predominant vocal arrangements.

“Love Plane” comes from their 1980 album “Skyway” and was a huge hit in my club and gave the early 80s an early transition from disco beats to a new electronic-groove. The emphasis here, as most Skyy tunes are falling in love and expressing a deep affection for a lover. And so let’s fly!

This ReStructure Mix give the funky track a longer breakdown and some new beats to bring this “love plane” to its destination. One of the moments I always hoped for when I was spinning this album version – an extended trip!

REISSUE: "Diamonds" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Robin Gibb

Robin Gibb as a member of the family group, Bee Gees helped to make the 70s an outline for many of his compositions and productions. This music helped a generation to come alive with excitement with funky dance pieces and adoring love songs. His solo recording career began in 1970 and followed through his passing in 2012. “Secret Agent” is his 1984 album is a pop-dance excursion featuring producers Chris Barbosa and Mark Liggett – who created the 80s electro-street sound with projects from Shannon, Xena and Steve Rodway.

“Diamonds” is the flip-side to the 12” hit single, “Boys Do Fall In Love” and is one of the tracks I would love to play during evening warm up or after-hours. It has many great hooks as well and a resonating vocal by Robin. It pounds out that street sound that made the mid-80s a bit more innovative. I have taken the 12” version to create this ReStructure Mix that not only extends the adventure here – but also gives a bit of the stage to Dame Shirley Bassey – where she confirms Robin’s obsession.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to the energy of Mr. Robin Gibb who left us in 2012 – thanks for your talent and heartfelt music.

REISSUE: “Love’s Comin’ At Ya”” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Melba Moore

Melba Moore is one of the true disco artists who came at the inception of the disco era boom. Her big singles “You Stepped Into My Life” and “Pick Me I’ll Dance” are placemats for a dance floor and are now dance classics. Melba’s 1982 album “The Other Side Of The Rainbow” gave us another opportunity to hear her power in a new electronic-funk sound produced by Kashif. It was a new groove created with a morphed keyboard playing out like a Jimmy Hendrix guitar. The single “Love’s Comin’ At Ya” is one of the tracks that I would play out for packed dance floors using two copies to extend for a wanting crowd. It is also one of my favorite moments when Melba’s vocals take a song and make it more lyrical and sweet.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Love’s Comin’ At Ya” to recreate this ReStructure Mix and add a touch more of a dub and dreamy feel to the original soul. It has a longer take off and a smooth fade. It is a great feeling to hear that 80’s funk sound exploding all over again.

REISSUE: “Feelin’ Lucky Lately” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – High Fashion

High Fashion is an electronic-funk band produced by Jacques Fred Petrus whose past projects included solidifying the energy of disco music with Peter Jacques Band and the beginnings of a New York funk sound with Change. Along with arranger and conductor Mauro Malavasi and musician Davide Romani the music of High Fashion once again brought the sound of New York alive as with Petrus’ past B.B. and Q Band and The Ritchie Family in the early 80s. “Feelin’ Lucky Lately” is once again a positive and uplifting force of dance music to embrace the dance floor. Along with vocals including Diva Gray, Gordon Grody, Philip Balou, Fonzi Thornton and Melissa Morgan this masterpiece is complete.

I have taken the 12” version of “Feelin’ Lucky Lately” and reworked a ReStructure Mix using segments of those sharp keyboards and funky beats. I have added a few new pieces to enhance the new mix and also a fade out to make the feeling last longer.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Erik De Hodge – thanks for the kind words and the request.

REISSUE: “Love Is All You Need" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - High Inergy

High Inergy is a soul group discovered by Berry Gordy’s sister and then signed to Motown’s label Gordy Records in 1977. Their first album titled “Turnin’ On” brought back the girl group excitement with the soul flair. The single “You Can’t Turn Me Off (In The Middle Of Turning Me On)” was an immediate hit and only revealed a clue of the tracks from the album which made these voices irresistible. “Love Is All You Need” is the opening song of the project and gives a funky-soul spot for High Inergy to harmonize and express their talent in a young, new experience. It was a turning point for soul music to enter a disco realm.

I have taken the album version of “Love Is All You Need” and created a ReStructure Mix to add some new drum fills and breaks to the beautiful shout out for love. An extended intro and some new breaks are added to extend and add a new feel. Some new beats are pulled from the base of this groovy rhythmic production.

REISSUE: “Let's Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bombers

Bombers are a disco studio group produced by George Lagios and Pat Deserio (Kebekelektrik, Rational Youth) and introduced a new space-age theme to the growing sound and vision of disco. Their first project from 1978 titled “Bombers” introduced the band as a deeper underground disco sound. “Bombers II” from 1979 gave the band a full open dance floor welcome with the hit “(Everybody) Get Dancing” – which is one of the big disco releases to assist in the music’s mainline success.

“Let’s Dance” is one of the five winning tracks from the “II” project and one which finds hustle dancers and mainstream disco followers the edge it is looking for. I have taken the album version and created this ReStructure Mix to give it a new vibrancy and also call attention to its shining elements. It =has always been a winner with me and continues to spark the sound of disco music which lingers on and on throughout time.

REISSUE: "Enjoy Yourself" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Jacksons

The Jacksons continued their dropping the “Five” from their title and finding themselves in 1976 under the production of Philadelphia International – Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff. It was a hardcore venture into the new dance arena. Even with the built up talents of this blockbuster entourage their own style and sound became the overall result. “Enjoy Yourself” is one of the first breakout singles which created that funky-disco essence of what we can all remember the mid-70s exuding.

I have taken the album version of “Enjoy Yourself” and worked a new ReStructure Mix to give the track some new beats and pulsating deep-dub effects. The rhythm guitars are the layer of promise from start to finish and again, the Jackson’s create a layer of chorus satisfaction. A great song which always made me feel the power of music and talent - the wonderful Jacksons.

REISSUE: “Don’t You Want To (Feel It For Yourself)” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Stacy Lattisaw

Stacy Lattisaw is the answer to 80’s retro funk! Her music in the early 80’s sound was the will of producer Narada Michael Walden (“I Don’t Want Nobody Else (To Dance With You)”, “Tonight I’m Alright”) along with Stacy’s sweet child-like vocal are irresistible.  “Don’t You Want To Feel It (For Yourself)” is a track from the 1980 album “Let Me Be Your Angel” and has some fantastic hooks and vocals from Lattisaw and Narada. It was one of the pieces I would play as an alternative to the huge hits “Dynamite” and “Jump To The Beat” from the same project.

I have taken the album version of “Don’t You Want To Feel It (For Yourself)” and worked a new ReStructure Mix for an old-school homage which amended the disco legacy in the early 80s.

REISSUE: "Get Down On It” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Kool and The Gang

Kool and The Gang began as a jazz ensemble and then becoming a funk band when their recording career began in 1970. Known for the hardcore funk of the early 70s with sings like “Hollywood Swinging” and “Jungle Boogie” which were each statement and are now classics. The transition of funk to a disco appeal was no problem with this group which took their music to a pop-dance status during the early 80s.”Get Down On It” is a formula which follows their work with legendary artist and producer Emuir Deodato who took the disco beat and worked a new brand of funk. This one is now a standard among radio and dance music enthusiast.

I have taken the 12” remix version of “Get Down On It” and directed the groove at a more dub-like and underground feel using segment and new beats in this ReStructure Mix. The transformation is completed with use of the stomping groove which Deodato works out like the disco formula keeping the funk alive.

NEXT ReSTRUCTURE MIX: "Burnin' Hot"

ReStructure Mix Update (7/23/21) “Freak Your Boom Boom” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Hank Ballard and The Midnighters

Hank Ballard and The Midnighters is a vocal ensemble whose recording career began in 1958. The group went through several member changes – Hank Ballard, Henry Booth, Charles Sutton and Sonny Woods are the members who recorded their 1979 disco single, “Freak Your Boom Boom” – which was produced by Hank Ballard (also writer) and Luther Dixon. This track takes the soulful road with vocals that express that deep groove which plays out with a bass guitar and a lite drum beat. One of the great pieces which was lost in the many releases of that year. “Freak Your Boom Boom” is the outline that disco music was built on where the dance floor follows along and works out to the record. A nice return to the retro disco sound of the era.

I have taken the 12” version of “Freak Your Boom Boom” and resurfaced the song for this ReStructure Mix. There is a new heavy drum beat added along with some percussion to bring this one back to the floor for more.

REISSUE: "Livin’ In The Life" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Isley Brothers

The Isley Brothers are an R&B/soul group whose recording career began in 1959 throughout 2015. Their music throughout the years has always maintained the sound of period and their own style. Many of their biggest achievements are during the funk movement of the early and mid-70s where a touch of the hardcore mixed with their sweet ballads made their stage unique. “Livin’ In The Life” is a powerful funk piece from their 1977 album “Go For Your Guns”. This one has a life of its own. A number questioning social circumstances and giving one the benefit of the doubt is the outline for this slam dunk funk track. This stands at the opening of disco music and its connection between soul and funk music.

I have taken the album version of “Livin’ In The Life” along with the brief instrumental part “Go For Your Guns” and recreated a new ReStructure Mix to pay homage to this great ensemble. This one extends the “mean” groove into a funk fest of d claps that seem to surface below the groove itself. A favorite of mine always and a trip into the concept of ReStructure Mix was gladly given.

REISSUE: "Right In The Socket" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Shalamar

Shalamar in 1976 was Jody Watley, Jeffrey Daniels and Gerald Brown and later in 1979 Howard Hewett replaced Gerald Brown. This was originally a studio project produced by Simon Soussan with their first successful LP "Uptown Festival" - their third LP "Big Fun" followed "Disco Gardens". The big hits were endless for this trio. "The Second Time Around" had already ran it's fever across dance floors when "Right In The Socket" was released from the LP.

This cut was made for the dance floor with it's clever lyrics and fantastic array of percussion tracks. Produced by Leon Sylvers and Dick Griffey from Solar Records.

I have ReStructured the cut to give the breaks more standing and the track a bit more length. I dedicate this track to "Misha" who never ran short of energy back in the day and still goes strong with inspiration and love.

REISSUE: "The Groove Line" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Heatwave

Heatwave is Billy Jones, Calvin Duke, Derek Bramble, Eric Johns, Ernest Berger, J.D. Nicholas, Johnnie Wilder Jr., Keith Harrison, Keith Wilder, Mario Mantese, Rod Temperton, Roy Carter and William Jones

With hits like "Boogie Nights" and "The Groove Line" it is no wonder they were the forerunners in disco music from 1976. Their music emphasized a growth in pop culture.

From their 1977 LP "Central Heating" I have taken "The Groove Line" and worked with the extended 12" version to create a whole new ReStructure Mix - much more action and energy going on here with looping and new intro and fade out.

Dedicated to my wonderful partner, Ken

REISSUE: "Lovin' You Madly" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Narada Michael Walden

The musical career of producer, songwriter and singer Narada Michael Walden is one which can be heard in many projects throughout three decades. His solo recordings began in 1976 and lasted throughout the mid-90s. His productions were the essential pop-dance-funk of the 80s and include Stacy Lattisaw, Sister Sledge, Amii Stewart, Angela Bofill, and Carl Carlton. His work has always given dance floors the groove to keep the energy and excitement alive.

“Lovin’ You Madly” is a single from his 1979 album “The Dance Of Life” and made disc jockey playlists from a nice project with many dance tracks to work from. It is one of the simple funk-productions which rely on a funky guitar and Narada’s undying love for that special one. At times it is “fierce” but always on the level.

I have created this ReStructure Mix of “Lovin’ You Madly” using the album version recreating a new rhythm part to break the funk into a house-like feel. It has the remapping of verses and choruses intended to bring a new slickness to an already hard-edge funk piece.

REISSUE: "Dancin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Grey and Hanks

Zane Grey and Len Ron Hanks released their LP "You Fooled Me" in 1978 - "Dancin'" is the first single from this project. The soulful and funky track added a new layer to disco music at the time. It was the extreme dance formula that became the pop end of radio and clubs.

I have ReStructured "Dancin'" to bring the song back in to the light with a new thumping intro and also adding a few more vocal elements out. It is a get boogie number and taking parts to reassemble into a new mix was fun.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Michael R. of San Diego - being one of his favorite disco tunes and for being a friend
