M|A|R|R|S is Alex Ayuli, CJ Mackintosh, Dave Dorrell, Martyn Young, Rudy Tambala, Russell Smith and Steven Young. This innovative dance project was aimed at the house music sound which was becoming the outline for remixes and a new genre of music in the late 80’s. “Pump Up The Volume” is one of the big dance tracks of 1987 and plays out with emphasis on the scratch DJ and the rolling bass line. This one uses samples from pretty much all arenas and gives initial exposure to vocalist Ofra Haza. A medley of sorts yet it contains more of an art form of pieces and parts all united in one song.
I have taken the 12” club, instrumental and dub version of “Pump Up The Volume” and resliced the track in a new ReStructure Mix. My concept here is a step back to the disco rule and a few of the big riffs which made the dance floors move. There is more of a medley feel here and also a breakdown of some of those segments.
