Ester B. is an Italo-house track from Severo Lombardoni. The house music takeover of the mid-80s is one of the most definitive as it was concocted by disc jockey themselves using the raw elements of a heavy bass beat and keyboards punching against the beat to kick up any rhythm not awaken. The formula is expressed here in this 1989 release “The Pleasure of The Music” which uses the piano and heavy bass riffs but on its own terms. This production by studio group Esther B. has one of the sexiest vocals which resemble Eartha Kitt in her Cat Woman garb playing with her prey. The vocals are the outline of the track and always reminded me of a clever take on the Lady Kier of Deelite in a new way. The song explores more of sliding rhythms than a direction and parts of it are glued together like a kick drum on a set.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “The Pleasure of The Music” and moved the pieces of the original groove into new segments. The vocal remains intact with a few extras thrown here and there for effect.
