Stephanie Mills is a diva among discophiles. Her music has been an effect on the dance floor from start which creates a powerful and lasting dance experience. “Pilot Error” is her 1983 release from the album “Merciless” – produced by David Wolfert and Gary Klein. This funk-disco track is an outline of a relationship whose problems arise from the lack of experience in dealing with issues – as the song portrays a serious moment gone awry. The production is one that plays out well with the beats and bass as the song catapults into an emotional disaster – but the dance aura works in the opposite direction.
I have taken the 12” version of “Pilot Error” and remapped the track into a new trip for this ReStructure Mix. Pieces of the percussion are used in new ways and there are some trigger loops to make up some new breaks.
