Classic disco music is recognized not only by name, but also by sound. It was 1982 when Sharon Redd, Eric Matthew and Darryl Payne introduced "Redd Hott" on Prelude Records. It was "Beat The Street" (released as the first single) which brought dance floors literally to their feet.
This track utilized the sound of synthesized tracks along with a simple orchestration to create a whole new breed of dance music for this period. Sharon was know to show up unexpectedly at New York clubs and pulled up to stage to perform this track along with others from her first LP simply titled "Sharon Redd" - with "Can You Handle It" being that hit track.
It was not long before Sharon proved to be not only a fantastic profile for disco, but also a fabulous entertainer. Her career moved throughout the mid 80's and slowly declined in the late 80's. Sadly, she passed in 1992 - but not without leaving us several dance numbers to keep her memory alive and respected.
My ReStructure Mix of "Beat The Street" is dedicated in Sharon's energy and also thanks to Galaxy558 for the request.
