Sharon Redd defines an introduction to the New York funk/disco sound emerging during the early 80s. Her dance floor hits “Beat The Street”, “In The Name Of Love” and “Love How You Feel” were the structure of this artist’s powerful delivery of funk-charged numbers and anthems. Her legacy continues as many dance enthusiasts new and old discover her unique sound and presence. “Somebody Save The Night” is from her 1983 project “Love How You Feel” – produced by Eric Matthew (Gary’s Gang). This number is an outline of the Redd-experience where she takes a groove and lays out her song in a streetwise yet sophisticated approach. This one is a promise of being captured on a lonely rather than returning for the same for longing over and over.
I have taken the album version of “Somebody Save The Night” and re-funked the track into a new ReStructure Mix. Using the existing percussion and rhythm tracks to remold them into a new experience. And allowing Sharon’s pleading chorus to maintain its place.
