Bardeux are a high-energy dance project from Jon St. James – who gave us Stacy Q (“Two Of Hearts”). The vocals here are provided by Acacia and Jaz – two harmonic voices who bring a charm to the sound of Bardeux. “Magic Carpet Ride” is from their first project “Bold As Love” from 1988. The track is a winding piece of rolling energy which feeds into diversions of fantasy and love. One of the big radio pieces in dance music at the time of its release. One of my favorites when it comes to a lyrical phrase and the voices which can carry it out.
I have taken the 12” remix vocal and instrumental of “Magic Carpet Ride” and we plotted the journey for this ReStructure Mix. More of the emphasis on the fantasy realm where a dub like arrangement creates a more psychedelic feel.
