Peter Jacques Band is a disco group formed in the late 70’s by producer Jacques Fred Petrus and arranged by Mauro Malavasi. The sound of this studio band began as a fast driving disco beat accented by synthetic percussion and effects that would outline a fireworks display. Their first album titled “Fire Night Dance” became an instant hit with the four track release and made the late 70s begin to take note of what would become high energy music in the early 80’s. “Welcome Back” is their 1980 release where the influence on New York Disco began to shift a few gears in the project. Petrus has branched out and produced a studio group called Change (featuring vocals from Jocelyn Brown and Luther Vandross) and became a disco art form of electronic pulses and disco strings. The sound is much of what is heard on the track “Exotically” which features again an ensemble of vocals outlining the perfection of a relationship/romance. It has the magic that Malavasi adds many of the production from Petrus and is obvious that the two were working closely to formulate this sound.
I have taken the album version of “Exotically” and rewired the piece for a new ReStructure Mix. The arrangement is a separation of the musical bridges giving more of the identity along with some new breaks created from new and existing pieces of drums, music and chorus riffs.
