ReStructure Mix Update (12/22/23): “Hands Down” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Dan Hartman
Dan Hartman is a longtime songwriter, musician and singer who began with the Edgar Winter Group and a recognizable 70’s hit “Free Ride” from 1972. The disco era brought immediate success to his feel-good songwriting with his 1978 hit “Instant Replay” which was the height of the disco phenomena and an iconic track to outline the period. His next project featured “Hands Down” released in 1979 and sounded much like the executives over at his label demanded a sound-alike hit. Although it is a long song in the same sense it does however have its own energy and excitement. This is a production that utilized all elements which made disco music crossover and take notice among those who were ready to dance.
I have taken the 12” inch vocal and instrumental of “Hands Down” and revive the energy one more time for this ReStructure Mix. I have layered many of the original tracks to create a new arrangement for this jumpin’ piece which even now sounds like a cheerleader’s event.
