Robin Beck is a singer from Brooklyn, New York who began her career as a backing vocalist for Melissa Manchester, Chaka Khan and Leo Sayer. Her solo career began in 1979 with her project titled “Sweet Talk” – produced by Kenny Lehman (Lemon, Rhetta Hughes, and Quinella). The title single was big release during a period where disco music was reaching the edge of its peak. This track tells the story of a manipulating lover who takes control with a soft approach – “sweet talk”. Robin performs the piece soulfully and with much of her vocal talent as you may hear developed in session recordings. The song is a favorite among the disco audiophiles who followed the trajectory of disco music as this piece is much more of a lower bpm mover.
I have taken the 12’ version of “Sweet Talk” and recreated a new outline for the song in this ReStructure Mix. An added percussion track guides the existing bass lines and strings into a whole new delicate experience.
