Donald Byrd and 125th Street NYC is a session featuring Donald Byrd, Eric Hines, Ronnie Garrett and William Duckett. Their big dance club hit from 1981 titled “Love Has Come Around” is one of the Paradise Garage classics and is also assisted by the great Isaac Hayes who produced. The dreamy funk style piece is one that exudes the early 80’s dance floor with the soulful vocal and chorus along with the groove that moved those underground clubs non-stop during the period. This piece can be considered a soul/funk anthem at least – but when you analyze and repeated listens you can feel it deserves much more of its own genre.
I have taken the vocal and instrumental of the 12” version of “Love Has Come Around” and worked to place it among a new sound in this ReStructure Mix. A new tribal like drum track is added to give it more of a deeper feel below its existing powerhouse sound.
