Gregg Diamond gave the 70’s a lesson in funky fantasy. His beautiful and band influenced recordings gave way to the lush sounds of disco in an early period. His recordings with Andrea True Connection (“More, More, More”, “N.Y. You Got Me Dancing”) are the embryo stages of his talent in creating disco music with his style. “Stop The Music” is from his first Bionic Boogie project from 1977 and this session features vocals from Gwen Guthrie and Ullanda McCullough. The uplifting messages that disco music evoked are felt in this number and also Diamond’s touch in blending phrases and musical influences. I always heard his music as a groovy edge with the disco flare added.
I have taken the album version of “Stop The Music” and recreated the message in this new ReStructure Mix. There is a new drum beat pounding out the moments of acceleration and the magic of the voices piecing into our souls the positive affirmations of the disco dance floor.
