Jolo is Jo-Carol and Lauren Carter – two ladies who are better known as The Patrick Cowley Singers (along with Paul Parker). Performing on Cowley’s first two albums gave these ladies exposure and an audience. “On Hold” is their 1983 single – produced by Maurice Tani, Arthur Adcock and Jolo. This piece has a pop-edge to the sound and feel – it may have been an influence to mold to the rock-dance sound. Their harmonies are a bit more directed at a more Go-Go’s type of sound. This was a Megatone 12” single which marks the history of dance music from the masters who helped to take over the 80s – following the disco era of the 70’s.
I have taken the 12” version of “On Hold” and have given it a complete re-wiring for this ReStructure Mix. Adding some new downbeats and using the existing drum fills to give it more of a bold club feel. There is an edit on the arrangement and strip down closing to a drop out.
