ReStructure Mix Update (9/30/20) “Exposed To Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Exposé

Exposé is a trio from producer Lewis A. Martineé - along with Ann Curless, Jeanette Jurado and Gioia Bruno as the most known of the chorus. The exception which applies here is the single “Exposed To Love” which features Alé Lorenzoon lead vocals. These ladies were a big part of the mid and late 80’s as their stage presence brought a sharp and sophisticated view of pop-dance music. “Exposed To Love” is a nice play on the group’s title and rings Miami freestyle rhythms to a new audience and dance floor wanting new experiences. The street sounds are emphasized in a sharp delivery in the clean cuts of kicks between heavy dub beats. It is one of the transfers from the disco beat to a full on street production. “Exposed To Love” also gives the ladies an opportunity to claim the femme-esque and sexy side of Miami freestyle.

I have taken the 12: vocal and dub of “Exposed To Love” and recreated a new beat driven dub with triple beats pounding out the new sound. More of the Latin flair keyboards are emphasized throughout this ReStructure Mix.

REISSUE: “Pretty Mess” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Vanity

REISSUE: “Pretty Mess” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Vanity Vanity is Denise Katrina Smith and is one of the musical acts produced by 80’s icon, Prince. Originally from a trio called Vanity 6 with over-sexed approach at loosely committed dance tracks. A touch of Prince’s controversial ingredients of racy lyrics and street beats with a tweak on rhythm and percussion. Vanity released her first solo album in 1984 titled “Wild Animal”. The dance single “Pretty Mess” is another sexual fantasy brought out into the light using parts of a romantic interlude compared to getting closer to “going all the way”. The champagne plays a double entendre for the title and also made the striking beats and Vanity’s whispery sexy purrs more of a lure. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Pretty Mess” and re-cycled every moan and pant of Vanity’s exercise here. A new layer of effects using the original pieces are added to bring a new life to this one. It is one of the 80s numbers that I always saved for that peak hour when sweat and throbbing bodies were in abundance.

REISSUE: "Love Gun" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Rick James

REISSUE: "Love Gun" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Rick James Rick James was known as punk-funk when he released his album “Come Get It!” in 1978 with the big hits “You and I” and “Mary Jane” – it was only the start for this master of funk and bass driven grooves. His follow-up album “Fire It Up” contained another slammin’ track titled, “Love Gun” which brought dance floors and its dancers to their knees! A fierce track which makes your funk come down no matter what kind of groove your prefer. I have taken the 12” version and created a new ReStructure Mix with some new pieces of kick-beat tracks that may sound familiar and also a sample from another classic that may have you not only ducking for cover – but also dipping lower to the funk!

REISSUE: "Chains” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Teena Marie

REISSUE: "Chains” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Teena Marie Teena Marie is a soul, funk and disco artist whose presence in the music world of 1979 brought a whole new light. Known as the “Ivory Queen of Soul” and paired with Rick James on her first album, “Wild and Peaceful” this talent was headed for a revitalized group of funk followers. Not only was Teena’s voice a break into a new sound but her low down on the funk was another order for her brand of music. “Chains” is from her 1980 album “Irons In The Fire” which was self-produced and arranged. This piece is a funk masterpiece of horns and guitar racing that wears out not so easily. One of the tracks that I would rely during the cross to funk and disco during the period. Also a theme that expresses that cross reference of a tough love that we all know. I have taken the album version of “Chains” and recreated a new phase for the song yet maintained the original intent. Lots of hard hitting drums are still the focus with a bit of dropping of some disco pounding moments to give it a ReStructure Mix feeling.

REISSUE: “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tata Vega

REISSUE: “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tata Vega

Tata Vega is a Motown artist who began her solo career in 1976 on Tamla Records. Her voice is recognizable with the soulful and funk edge she creates with adlibs and delivery. Best known for her vocals in the film “The Color Purple” where she sang under the character Shug Avery – produced by Quincy Jones. Tata’s album “Try My Love” from 1978 featured a classic disco hit “I Just Keep Thinking About You Baby” and kept dance floors waiting for her presence once again. “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” is her cover of The Supremes Motown classic and is produced by Winston Monesque in 1980. The production is an electronic production with a light touch of funk which supplies a wonderful foundation for Tata to play out her style in this recording. More of her soulful talents are drawn out and spotlighted throughout the arrangement. I have taken the 12” version of “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” and reworked the keyboards and Vega’s unforgettable vocals in this ReStructure Mix. New drum tracks pound out more of the rhythm and a lengthier intro leads here.

REISSUE: "Power" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Temptations

REISSUE: "Power" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Temptations The Temptations are Motown powerhouse male groups who helped to shape soul music during the early 60s and create stage for male emotions. Their music remains timeless and full of a time period when the music scene was rejuvenated with creative talent and excitement. The group recorded from 1964 to present. In 1980 the group released “Power” produced by Barry Gordy and Angelo Bond – the title track was a pulsating funk song and although the arrangement followed a disco edge the vocals remained layered and continued to express the bands sole purpose. I have taken the album version of “Power” and have reworked its political and spiritual theme in an extended format with a new jack-swing touch to wrap those vocals even more around your mind. The message may be varied from this number but perhaps in current years as it emphasizes a reality. The titled “Power” is what it has always been about – yet this time let’s focus on the “power” of the funk in the beat!

ReStructure Mix Update (9/29/20) “Shake What You Got” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Pulse

Pulse is a disco band from 1978 with members James Aaron Johnson and Jim Johnson. Their single “Shake What You Got” is a nice blend of soul and pumping disco with a great hook that makes the mood irresistible. It was one of the singles that fit perfect for that independent disco label sound. A breakout of many new dance companies backing the disco theme. This one is one of favorites of its style and makes the time period come right back into the feet.

I have taken the 12” version of “Shake What You Got” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix for a trip back to 1978. More percussion is beefing up those blaring horn sections and a surprise break from a disco classic is blended in as treat.

REISSUE: “One Shot Lover” by Venus – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “One Shot Lover” by Venus – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Venus is a high energy disco group from Alvers, Belgium – the band consisted of Ellen, Leen, Sinthia, Chantal and Christel. A group began recording in 1980 and continued through 2000. They are best known for their 1984 high energy disco hit, “One Shot Lover” – produced by Frank Sauter who also produced Dance Reaction, Lady Butterfly and Boomgang. “One Shot Lover” is treated to a Disco Video Mix along with the 1962 British spy film “Dr. No” – which is the first of the James Bond film series. It stars Sean Connery and Ursula Andress. The action adventure tale of Dr. Julius No, who plots to disrupt a manned space launch with his evil radio beam weapon. The action flows with the synth tracks and sexy images along the James Bond tradition. The film was directed by Terence Young Featuring scenes from “Dr. No” – RENT THE DVD! REISSUE: “Right On Target” by Paul Parker – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Right On Target” by Paul Parker – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Paul Parker is a disco artist from the early 80s who brought excitement to dance floors with the release of his first single, “Right On Target” in 1982. Written and produced by Patrick Cowley and released on his Megatone Records label the song reached #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. It was the beginning of a whole new era of dance music and creative edge for dance music. Paul’s sexy performance and vocals made this number a huge classic immediately. I have created a Disco Video Mix using scenes from the 1965 James Bond series film, “Thunderball” starring Sean Connery. The action and Bond's hard to resist attraction to his female co-stars give the disco track a nice comparison. The film was directed by Terence Young Featuring scenes from “Thunderball” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: "Hit 'N Run Lover" by Carol Jiani - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: "Hit 'N Run Lover" by Carol Jiani - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Carol Jiani's "Hit 'N Run Lover" is a disco classic. The track was released in 1981 and made a place on every dance floor from the first beat. Produced by Joe La Greca and arranged by Denis LaPage - is was no wonder how this track was able to create magic in discotheques. I had always envisioned the song as a theme from a James Bond film - it is now presented along with the 1974 film, "The Man With The Golden Gun" starring Roger Moore, Christopher Lee and Britt Ekland. Directed by Guy Hamilton The theme moves along with the spy action and also allows Carol the opportunity to make the drama her own. Featuring scenes from "The Man With The Golden Gun" - RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to Ms. Carol Jiani and her fabulous talent!

REISSUE: "Secret Agent Man" by Ultimate - ReStructure Mix and Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: "Secret Agent Man" by Ultimate - ReStructure Mix and Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Ultimate released their second LP featuring the track "Secret Agent Man" (a remake of the Johnny Rivers song from 1964) -- this track went un-noticed by many dance floors since the track was only 3 minutes long. I have taken the number and extended it for a mild ReStructure and for eye candy edited scenes from 1966 action film, "The Silencers" with Dean Martin. The song comes alive with Dean Martin, Cyd Charisse and Stella Stevens guiding the action from disco to super-spy video. This video features "The Silencers" -- RENT THE VIDEO! REISSUE: “Pistolero” by Bombers – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Pistolero” by Bombers – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Bombers are one of the disco gems of the late 70s – a Canadian disco group produced by George Lagios and Pat Deserio who also helped to create Kebekelektrik in 1977. The sound of Bombers was a heavy disco drum with a heavy keyboards and percussion aimed at the new arrangement and mix of dance music in 1978. “Pistolero” is a space-age theme with some of the delicious bass from Buster Jones and the heavy drum fills which Pat Deserio practiced. It has always been one of my favorite fantasy disco tracks and kept my dance floor packed for months during its release. I have taken the 1982 science fiction film “Blade Runner” starring Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer to compliment the futuristic and bold feel of the disco track. The film is a story of a Dystopian Los Angeles in the year 2019 where robots run amok in a setting that is a bit film noire on the detective end yet heavy on the science fiction matter. The film was directed by Ridley Scott Featuring scenes from “Blade Runner” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

ReStructure Mix Update (9/28/20) “Spend The Night” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Bob-A-Rela

Bob-A-Rela is a disco project from producers George Lagios and Pat Deserio – best known for their work with the group Bombers (“Everybody Get Dancin’) and Kebekelektrek (“Magic Fly”, “War Dance”). An innovative move here on disco music with a space age feel to the grooves with keyboards emulating space ships soaring through the galaxy and whooshing noises that echo through an eternal galaxy. The musicians here are from many Canadian disco projects and include Busta Jones on those funky guitars. “Spend The Night” is a touch of rock love with the female ensemble pulling an attraction into a carnal arena. It is one of my favorites tracks from the project although the entire session is worthy of accolades.

I have taken the album version of “Spend The Night” and recreated a new ReStructure Mix and in the outline of my work used portions in segments to recreate this aphrodisiac. There in a new intro and fade with utilize those space references that I adore.

REISSUE: "Here Comes That Sound Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Love De-Luxe with Hackshaw's Discophonia Another Euro-disco producer who meshed with the likes of Cerrone, Alec R. Costandinos and Miquel Brown. Here he creates a sound using all of his experience. A great venture into the pure sound of disco music. "Here Comes That Sound Again" is ReStructured from the full LP version and uses all of the elements that made it a dance floor classic. Great strings and bass guitars.

REISSUE: "Work That Body" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Taana Gardner

REISSUE: "Work That Body" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Taana Gardner The earliest sound of "The Garage" was around the time that Taana Gardner's "Work That Body" hit the scene. Sure. It was packed full of great disco beats and percussion, but it also had a deeper feel to it. The original 12 Inch mix by Larry Levan remains flawless. And the production by Kenton Nix superb. The only purpose for a ReStructure is to keep "Misha" dancing. The feel of this single was a hit from the time I first heard it and even now remains a great disco record that remains in the soul as well as the mind.

REISSUE: "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Chic

REISSUE: "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Chic It was 1977 and "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" was released - disco seemed to take off from this period. Dance floors came alive in a new way when this monster hit was brought into clubs. There was a new form and structure to the sound of disco music. Again, Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards along with Kenny Lehman (Lemon) and producers, Marc Kreiner and Tom Cossie laid out this experimental LP which began the sound of CHIC. My ReStructure is a homage to these talented men and a new structure!

REISSUE: “Another Cha Cha" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Santa Esmeralda

REISSUE: “Another Cha Cha" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Santa Esmeralda Santa Esmeralda has always been the maker of fabulous disco music - "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "The House of The Rising Sun" and "Beauty" were disco suites with full orchestral arrangements which made them classics. "Another Cha Cha" is their fourth release and again presented as a full sided suite - I have take the production by Nicolas Skorsky and Jean Mauel De Scarano and tidied up with a new presentation of those fantastic horns and piano tracks. Vocals on this project were performed for Jimmy Goings

REISSUE: “That’s Where The Happy People Go” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Trammps

REISSUE: “That’s Where The Happy People Go” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Trammps The Trammps are a soul ensemble from the 60’s whose influence of disco music is a great memory for many who experienced the transition in the mid-70s of soul/Philly blend to a club/disco feel. Their 1976 hit “Disco Inferno” is still an iconic piece of dance music. “That’s Where The Happy People Go” from the album by the same name is another anthem which brings a groove which helped to make dance floor intentity with both the music as well as the discotheque scene. I have taken the 12” version of “That’s Where The Happy People Go” and worked a new ReStructure Mix to bring out that hand-clappin’ groove with a new arrangement and a few added breaks. The chorus is one of the great tie-line with the mid-70s scene and brings back the excitement all over again.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/25/20) “Heaven Knows” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Donna Summer

Donna Summer marked the height of her career and also in disco history in 1978 with her double record project “Live and More”. The 3 sided concert pressing is a display of Donna Summer’s fantastic vocals in a concert environment – even in play with her early recordings where she transformed the soft sexy tracks into her now emerging vocal abilities. “Heaven Knows” is one of the new songs from the project and features Brooklyn Dreams on backing vocals. It is one of Donna’s beautiful love songs and also marks a new phase of her career as the Queen of Disco. The production is another wonderful time when disco music was perfected with orchestrations and funky elements supporting the arrangement.

I have taken the 12” version of “Heaven Knows” and recreated a new outline for this ReStructure Mix. It has more of a dub feel and breaks the original into more breaks for a new edit and experience.

REISSUE: "Took Me So Long” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Cerrone

REISSUE: "Took Me So Long” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Cerrone Cerrone not only brought European disco to the US in the mid-70s and in the early 80s used his genius to construct an exciting fusion of his horns, drums and energy for a new period of disco/dance music. “You Are The One” is from 1980 and crosses the dance bridge to another style for Cerrone along with vocalists Jocelyn Brown, Kristal Davis and Ullanda McCullough. “Took Me So Long” is one of the first singles that I got immediate response from my dance floor and it soon became one of those funk/disco songs that always sound fresh. Jocelyn Brown on lead vocals gives Cerrone a new sound and effect in his creation. I have taken the album version of “Took Me So Long” and extended the keyboard riffs to a new ReStructure Mix. This mix plays out as a peak our number that may have added another fire to clubs like Paradise Garage on a Saturday night. One of the payments to the great Cerrone who never let us down.

REISSUE: "Body Language” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Joel Diamond Experience

REISSUE: "Body Language” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Joel Diamond Experience Joel Diamond Experience is a project from the man himself who helped to bring the sophisticated production to the dance floor. There is a fine resonance of American Music history in his music along with the non-stop party feel of disco. “Body Language” is from his 1979 project Joel Diamond Experience, which is the finale of full flavored disco magic in the US. This track features the mighty Jocelyn Brown (credited as Jocelyn Shaw) on lead vocals and the performance brings this disco number to a powerful level. It is a hidden gem on the album where I always dreamed of a nice 12” version to frame Jocelyn and Joel’s genius. I have taken the album version of “Body Language” and moved the arrangement into several breakdowns along with new percussion. It is a ReStructure Mix to pay homage to the last breaths of the disco market placing some memorable and exciting pieces to remember the great rein of disco music in its place.

REISSUE: "I'm Caught Up (In A One Night Love Affair)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Inner Life

REISSUE: "I'm Caught Up (In A One Night Love Affair)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Inner Life The tail end of the disco era brought some appropriate dance anthems – one of them being Inner Life’s “I’m Caught Up (In A One Night Love Affair)” which featured Jocelyn Brown’s fabulous vocal performance. This one was a real showstopper – an emotional and soulful showcase. Produced by Patrick Adams with his trademark sound of percussion and strings taking part in the drama. This ReStructure is taking the track into another place where no boundaries are present. It is dedicated to a period where dance music gave us what we needed – pure soul.

REISSUE: “Angel In My Pocket" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Change

REISSUE: “Angel In My Pocket" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Change Change is a disco project from 1980from Jacques Fred Petrus who worked throughout the mid and late 70s to perfect the disco sound as he also created the new innovative electronic disco vibe with bands like Macho, Peter Jacques Band and Rudy. The first Change album “The Glow Of Love” is a classic and iconic piece of disco perfection in a cross between his nigh energy bands and the New York/Chic-esque sound. Along with lead vocals by Luther Vandross and Jocelyn Shaw (Brown) there are moments of disco ambience and disco funk that cross paths so slick. I have taken the album version of “Angel In My Pocket” which was one of the many cuts which aimed at floor-play. It has the powerful voice of Jocelyn Shaw taking us into safety after a bad fall and assuring us that we can look after ourselves when we look back and learn from experience. A new kind of angel. It has some new familiar beats and a long break to pull out more of the diva-in the track!

REISSUE: "Too Through” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jocelyn Brown and Bad Girls

REISSUE: "Too Through” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jocelyn Brown and Bad Girls Bad Girls is a disco/funk project from producer Began Cekic (Brooklyn Express, Common Sense, Hi Voltage, and Francine Simone). There single “Too Through” released in 1981 is a classic among the New York funk releases of that period. This one uses Latin percussion tapping across a funky bass guitar to accent Jocelyn’s major performance. It is a quite gem. Another number which thanks to Jocelyn Brown’s touch on vocals creates an unforgettable moment. I have taken the 12” vocal, instrumental and single version to create a new ReStructure Mix and groove for this soulful light. The percussion is highlighted once again in many segments and used in other ways to bring out verses and some new breaks.

REISSUE: “Stay With Me” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – India

REISSUE: “Stay With Me” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – India India is an electronic dance project from disco producer Jacques Morali – who also gave us Village People, The Ritchie Family, Dennis Parker, The Lovers, Patrick Juvet and Phylicia Allen during climb and peak of disco music. This stripped down production is a great transition for Morali whose past work always featured arrangements layered with strings, horns and rhythm sections. The 80s brought a new challenge since major labors no longer supplied the budget for such work. India always reminded me of the 80s rock edge scene with a Steve Perry vocal and pulsating aerobics rhythm. It does however have the sweetness of the disco feel and the wonderful light rock edge with added synthesizers work very well. I have taken the 12” long version (originally mixed by Mr. Steve Thompson) and created a lengthier and flowing ReStructure Mix using more of the bridge and breaks as a piece of the new arrangement. It has a few new surprises and those filled in spots that bring the fantasy of disco music alive again.

REISSUE: “Nights Of Arabia” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Miro Miroe

REISSUE: “Nights Of Arabia” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Miro Miroe Miro Miroe is a 80s synth-pop duo whom were a shift into a new era of dance music. Berenice Nally and Ian Ritchie create the Arabic feel in “Nights Of Arabia” from 1982 and weave an adventure into a desert romance. This track is their second single and was one of the synth-dance numbers which roll over and over a hypnotic rhythm which interplays with a force that is powerful and move the feet and mind. I have taken the US 12” version of “Nights Of Arabia” and created a ReStructure Mix which plays on the pulsating bass synths and keyboards which interlock and then reverse to a new adventure. It is one of the new wave infused pieces that I recall serving to a packed dance floor so this reworking is a dedication to the 80s synth-pop sound and the power it brought to help introduce high energy music.

REISSUE: "Back In My Arms Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cynthia Manley

REISSUE: "Back In My Arms Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cynthia Manley Following the 1981 iconic cover recording of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" with Boystown Gang, Cynthia Manley soon moved on to a very power take on the Motown classic, "Back In My Arms Again". The track was released in 1982 on Atlantic Records and proved again that Manley held a special talent within her beautiful frame. The cover was a big hit in my club and I recall many fellow disc jockeys speaking of it's success in their clubs as well. It was an effort that she would keep in her heart even now. The track was produced by Michael Stewart and in ReStructured here with a high energy arrangement and play on Cynthia's fantastic vocal. Dedicated to one of the most incredible and talented ladies I have ever had the pleasure of meeting - Ms. Cynthia Manley. Check out Cynthia at: www.cynthiamanley.net - she continues to entertain and share love with the world.

REISSUE: “Dancing In Heaven (Orbital Be-Bop)” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Q-Feel

REISSUE: “Dancing In Heaven (Orbital Be-Bop)” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Q-Feel Q-Feel is Brian Fairweather, Chris Richardson, Martin Page, and Trevor Thornton. Their 1982 dance floor hit “Dancing In Heaven (Orbital Be-Bop)” is the 80s synth-pop explosion and caught on throughout the mid-80s as the New Romantic scene began to blend their vocal style along with synth-pop. The song brought them success both on radio and many sweaty nights in dance clubs. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental to work a new ReStructure Mix paying tribute to the uplifting sound of 80s dance music. A new set of drums are added to the intro from a pop-rock track that you may recognize and a new insert of International dance feel.

REISSUE: “Again and Again” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Nikki Lauren

REISSUE: “Again and Again” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Nikki Lauren Nikki Lauren is a 80s artist who was featured on Disconet Vol. 5 Program 9 from 1983 and is a production from Mark S. Berry who worked on classic productions with Poussez!, Frisky, Roni Griffith and Carol Williams. “Again and Again” is an uplifting dance number which features the synth-pop edge that became the new sound of dance floors in the early 80s. This one is an ecstatic jump into the excitement of the dance floor left over from the end of the 70s. The new interpretation along with Nikki’s vocals creates an anthem dance number. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Again and Again” and worked a ReStructure Mix which pulls out more of the drums and synths into a more afterhour’s mood. The soft feel of the beats are intact and extended for this new experience. A tribute to the music of the early 80s and producer Mr. Mark S. Berry.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/23/20) “Don’t Challenge Me” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Makers

Makers is an electronic/funk and experimental project written and produced by disco pioneer. Boris Midney. His work from the late 70’s took on a whole new sound and identity during the big disco era. His work on projects USA European Connection, Beautiful Bend, Caress, Masquerade, Festival, Companion and Double Discovery have displayed his unique approach to taking the disco beat and stripping each layer of rhythm with European disco flavors accenting his arrangements. Makers are one of his earliest works and there is an early sign of his style with play on both the groove and moody and dreamlike feel. This work from 1972 is placed as Midney’s claim to a greater fame with disco music in 1978 where clubs became exposed to what would be known as “Art Disco”.

I have taken the 7” version of “Don’t Challenge Me” and focused on paying tribute to Midney’s work by dissecting this psychedelics mood into a disco fare. A new drum beat and pattern pound out the early morning sound of this track and some of Midney’s later magic is added to fulfil the dynasty of disco music he has created.

REISSUE: “Automatic Lover” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Dee D. Jackson Dee D. Jackson released her worldwide disco hit, “Automatic Lover” in 1977 – produced by Patty Unwin and Gary Unwin. The single plays out a futuristic love call in a time where robots have replaced human companionship. One of the unique songs of its kind and produced with the electronic edge of disco to frame it perfectly. Dee D. performed on stage with a 60s sci-fi robot figure moving around her adorning space princess attire which made this number quite the camp piece. I have taken the 1988 re-release of “Automatic Lover” featuring additional production by Michael Cretu and Frank Peter. This ReStructure Mix works more a space dub approach as I pieced the keyboards and sequencers into new parts for a more extreme feel. Dee D. is given a few more spots to work her vocal riffs along with the abstract groove in this version.

REISSUE: “Fly On U.F.O.” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Chromium

REISSUE: “Fly On U.F.O.” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Chromium Chromium is a disco studio project from producer Trevor Horn – and features Alma Thibou, Anne Dudley, Geoff Downes, Linda Allen, and Vikki Spence. Their 1979 album “Star To Star” is one of the centerpiece productions of the disco era which explores the space theme with the singles “Fly On U.F.O.” and “Caribbean Air Control”. A galactic adventure with the uplifting disco edge which came along with many bands like The Rockets, Mc Lane Explosion and Space. Even though this project makes a few detours into themes outside of the 70’s space episodes it does create the mood with the imagery and keyboards utilized throughout the production. I have taken the 12” version of “Fly On U.F.O.” and used bass segments from several breaks to recreate a new blend for this ReStructure Mix. The disco track always reminded me of the closing titles to a space adventure film. It plays out with more of the chorus through filters and broken into several instrumental additions here.

REISSUE: "Trippin' On The Moon" by Cerrone -- Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: "Trippin' On The Moon" by Cerrone -- Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Cerrone's transition from 70s disco to 80s high energy was flawless. The movement into electronic music which became the dance floor medium for the time was displayed in Cerrone's style and flavor. From his 1982 LP "Back Track 8", the single "Trippin' On The Moon" became one of the icon disco tracks of the 80s. It featured the vocals of Kay Garner -- who also recorded vocals with Love and Kisses and the group The Ladybirds. I have taken the sci-fi film from 1953 "Cat Women of The Moon" starring Sonny Tufts, Victor Jory and Marie Windsor and placed scenes along with Cerrone's classic to create a cheesy adventure into the world of human-like felines on the moon. It is quite a campy chapter in 50s adventure flicks. The film was directed by Arthur Hilton Featuring scenes from "Cat Women of The Moon" -- RENT THE DVD! REISSUE: "Instant Love" by Sylvia Love - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: "Instant Love" by Sylvia Love - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Sylvia Love released her disco track, "Instant Love" in 1979 - produced by Trevor Vallis. Formulated in the D.D. Jackson "Automatic Lover" vein and using similar sequencers to Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" the track became more of an underground sensation. In the early 80's many of after-hours dance clubs with jocks assembling music that was fitting for dancing before the sun came up were placing this one on rotation. As the years have passed and much of the electronic influence in dance music has and continues to progress it is always interesting to look back at the pioneers who steered us in this direction. "Queen Of Outer Space" is one of the campiest science fiction takes in 1958 - starring Zsa Zsa Gabor and Eric Fleming leading the adventure. The story line is simple - the planet "Venus" (the planet of love) has kept men away until this a spaceship of 3 eligible bachelors convinces then that a waste of beauty is no good. This video mix salutes the "Cult Camp Classic" films and also the same sound in disco music, which follows along the outlines. Featuring scenes from "Queen Of Outer Space" -- RENT THE DVD! REISSUE: “Planet Of Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Stephanie Wells

REISSUE: “Planet Of Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Stephanie Wells Stephanie Wells is a Canadian disco project from producers Gino D’ Orazio and Tony Bentivegna. The early 80s was an experimental period for the use of electronics in dance music since productions were scaled down from the disco recording sessions of the late seventies. Stephanie’s “Planet Of Love” from the album “Fools In Love” from 1983 was a welcome sound on dance floors yearning for more of the pulsating sound of disco. It has a chorus which makes the climb worth it. Much of the arrangement is based on bass sequencers and keyboards which fit in well with the 80s dance era and its transitioning path. I have taken the 12” single version of “Planet Of Love” and lifted some of the pieces of the pulsating bass to loop and rework the song. Along with some new drops in edits and new breaks. This is a longer voyage into a disco fantasy and another moment to understand this period of dance music at its best.

REISSUE: “Born To Be Alive” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Kelly Marie

REISSUE: “Born To Be Alive” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Kelly Marie Kelly Marie is one of the voices of dance/disco music whose power is always felt. Her achievements have been her versatile approach to each song. Her big hit “Feels Like I’m In Love” from 1979 is one of the tracks which became not only a landmark on the dance floor but also helped to give the end of the disco era a great send off. Kelly released a tribute to one of the great disco tracks from the golden age of disco – 1978 and the classic, “Born To Be Alice” by Patrick Hernandez. This cover is exciting as Kelly’s enticing vocals create the sensation of freedom all over again. Produced by John Davies and Nigel Stock of the Passion Records high energy machine. This rolling version is a great vehicle for Ms. Marie and she surely takes advantage of the stage once again. I have taken the 12” vocal of “Born To Be Alive” and transformed the key elements into a new ReStructure Mix which beefs up the energy like a hoe-down at the disco corral. I have reworked the original with the emphasis of an all-night party breaking loose and Kelly is right there…once again!

REISSUE: "Too Hot To Handle" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Giorgio

REISSUE: "Too Hot To Handle" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Giorgio Giorgio Moroder's classic electronic recording, "From Here To Eternity" is a project referred to by progressive techno and electronic dance composers and dancers alike. It is one of the most intriguing at a time where sequencers and computer recording at all levels of the artist - perhaps this is the perfection achieved by Mordoer in this recording. "Too Hot To Handle" comes from the LP and has one of the meanest synthetic bass lines - which invoked a ReStructure Mix of this fascinating song. it is reworked with a few new elements and Moroder's phasing "re phased"!
