ReStructure Mix Update (9/2/26): “Supermodel (You Better Work)" – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – RuPaul

RuPaul is an entertainer/singer who took the 90s and turned the house music scene into a runway. “Supermodel (You Better Work)” is his 1992 single - produced by Jimmy Harry. This extravaganza piece is one of the parodies which outline itself as genius. RuPaul’s stage presence as a cross-fashion goddess takes this theme and transforms it into a lifestyle for many during its release. The immediate attitude is laid out in the appropriate manner using every “new” phrase in this fabulous profession called “super modeling”. More of RuPaul was placed in television appearances in full drag and being warmly accepted by the public as they are swept into this musical fantasy. His vocals fit into this mold as the notes themselves are placed. It is pure dance floor magic and also a note of house music and its own success in the late 80s and 90s.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Supermodel (You Better Work)” and placed pieces and bits into a new interpretation for this ReStructure Mix. I have created more of a dub-like flavor and worked to make the best survive another dance floor era.

ReStructure Mix Update (8/30/26): “World In Fascination" – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Machine In Motion

Machine In Motion is a synth-pop band from 1995 who featured members Machine X, Robert Powers and Robin Stefan. This ensemble was a follow up of the 60s love generation feel created by the band DeeLite in the early 90s. There were many other groups and bands who offered their own take on the peace and love theme and applied their own rhythms and magic to some phenomenal and anthem-like songs. “World In Fascination” is one of those positive outlooks on how our planet is a part of a system which will bring whatever it sows and “everything will be allright”. The edge used here is more of a house predominant sound with deep bass outlining the foundation for these dreamy boys to point to the positive direction of global growth as we all watch in awe of its power. The production has plenty of techno and rave elements which are a part of the early and mid-90s dance sound. A nice lyrical track with a harmonious message.

I have taken the 12” versions of “World In Fascination” and replenished the upbeat mood into a new ReStructure Mix. More of the keyboard arpeggios spread across the mix and a breakdown is offered throughout the new arrangement over and over.

ReStructure Mix Update (8/27/26): “‘Scandalous” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – 2 Puerto Ricans, A Blackman And A Dominican

2 Puerto Ricans, A Blackman And A Dominican are David Cole and Robert Clivilles of C & C Music Factory along with David Morales and Chep Nuñez. This ensemble was responsible for bringing the underground house and techno sound to pop music. “Scandalous” is their second single from 1989 and contains the utmost leading pieces of house music and acid-house during the period. The mechanical pieces of Chicago house music where the piano is the domineering rhythm is pounding out the groove throughout this number. A simple outline using the dance floor as the weapon itself as the infectious sound takes over. The fusion of players here gives off the authenticity of the project and the dedication to create a moving dance song which plays out as an anthem.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Scandalous” and rewired the parts with the house maneuvers for this ReStructure Mix. Much of the audio effects are used again in a new arrangement and approach for this remix.

ReStructure Mix Update (8/26/26): “Frantic Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Eastbound Expressway

Eastbound Expressway is a disco project from producers Ian Levine and Fiachra Trench - whose talents has given us numerous disco classics and also the realization of “high energy” music during the early 80s. “Frantic Love” is a  single released in 1984 and features vocals by Bonnie Anderson, Joycelyn Phillips and Karen Freeman. This fast moving number is a close reminder of the big Broadway dance numbers done in Busby Berkeley 1930s films. It builds and builds over a maximum level of excitement which gives this girl group the ammunition needed for the 80s shift in dance music. It is a love song that dedicates a crazy affection for one and guarantees that it will live on forever. Beautiful keyboard arrangements pound out the melody here with the ladies mastering their delivery throughout the song.

I have taken the 12” version of “Frantic Love” and worked the original energy into a new ReStructure Mix. More of the vocal pieces are added to give it a stage appeal and a few new dropout-breaks to create new energy.

ReStructure Mix Update (8/25/26): “Dream Baby” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Anti-Time

Anti-Time is a house music project from Gabi Delgado and Saba Komossa whose first release in 1990 is the 12” single titled “Dream Baby”. The track is a hardcore underground ritual that sounds like an upbeat version of Madonna’s “Justify My Love”. It is a German production and is showcased in a secretive fashion which gives off a whispery layer of background moans and noises. Very reminiscent of the 90’s house label Tribal America where a fusion of moods and themes take over the rhythm are always guaranteed. An exchange of Spanish phrases creates a sexual push into a riff which over powers this track throughout.

I have taken the 12” version of “Dream Baby” and played out the formula with more attention at the play in this ReStructure Mix. A new down beat is added to the foundation and parts of the effective electronic riffs are placed center stage.

ReStructure Mix Update (8/22/26): “Baja” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mascara

Mascara is a disco project from producer, Jürgen S. Korduletsch who also gave us Claudja Barry, Disco Circus, Gaz and Lipstique. This 1984 single features the studio ensemble of Chris Hill, David Lasley, Luther Vandross and Ula Hedwig. A full electronic arrangement with the layers of a night in Baja and its lure within the meeting herein. Keyboards display several movements for the energy build in this project and the touch of Korduletsch’s vibes color up parts of each breakdown. Featured on the Personal Records label which was founded and started by Bobby Orlando and many of his studio bands.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Baja” and rediscovered the song with a new outline for this ReStructure Mix. I have used pieces of Santana’s 1971 track “Batuka” and used its moving percussion and hard wire guitar work in parts of this arrangement. This plays out with a bit more of the weekend taking its place from start to finish.

ReStructure Mix Update (8/21/26): “Walking On Music” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Coo Coo

Coo Coo is Giancarlo Pasquini, Gianni Coraini and Mauro Farina - an Italian disco project from the late 80s who captured the uplifting dance edge of high energy and house music. “Walking On Music”
is their cover 1993 of the Peter Jacques Band hit single from 1979 on disco label Prelude Records. This lightly produced cover has some interesting pieces and although the arrangement is simple and less approachable on the sequencer layers it is still great to hear this classic brought back in any form. Vocals are provided by less soulful and more celebratory. You may find yourself waiting for the power to hit and realize it all began when it started.

I have taken Coo Coo’s cover of “Walking On Music” and guided the remake to where it came from. I have beefed up the arrangement with a new drum track and also borrowed a break from the original.

ReStructure Mix Update (8/20/26): “Make That Feeling Come Again!” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Beautiful Bend

Beautiful Bend is the second production from Boris Midney - who made 1978 an aural experience with his U.S.A. European Connection (“Come Into My Heart/Good Loving”) project. Midney approached disco music as a professor of science taking elements which became the outline and piecing them in a new formation. His orchestrations were subtle yet unforgettable as they accented breakdowns and at times breaks of his arrangements. It was close to a disc jockey taking the working elements of songs and piecing them in new ways. “Make That Feeling Come Again!” is released under Beautiful Bend and is the cornucopia of disco of the time period. Each side in the new disco tradition of segued songs forming a message or a non-stop dancing experience. Beautiful piano and strings in this number give us another taste of Midney’s direction where the symphony is there to entertain dancers for a time period before congas and bongos take over for a few seconds. He became well known and later labeled “Art Disco” where the expectations were high and outcome from fans and followers were always underground and non-commercial.

I have taken the fabulous disco masterpiece “Make That Feeling Come Again!” from the album version and reworked it for a new ReStructure Mix. The opening is a new experience as a new defiant beat pounds the intro into the majestic bass and piano segment. This remix takes the best of the rhythmic pieces and sweet disco strings into a new candy bar.

ReStructure Mix Update (8/18/26): “Disco Blood” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Vamps

The Vamps are a Brazilian disco band from 1977 featuring Santiago "Sam" Malnati and Sarah Regina. This album is one of the first albums I ever bought which had a sticker stating “IMPORT”. A parody of the horror genre relating to vampires as each song takes us on a documentary on a creature of the night looking for comfort on the dance floor. The production is a band environment with a disco mastering leveling out the Latin percussion breaks. There are echoes of Silver Convention and The Ritchie Family in parts of the main theme and it may sound familiar yet it was only a reflection on pop-music making underground disco songs now radio classics. “Disco Blood” sounds like a soundtrack to a 70s action television show with Halloween elements thrown in for identity. However, this one is a fun track when taken as intended. A lot of camp and the boogie period before the word “disco” took over.

I have taken the LP version of “Disco Blood” and revived the original with a new ReStructure Mix. A new drum track opens this upbeat haunting refrain to allow some pitching and more strange elements.

ReStructure Mix Update (8/16/26): “7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (Blow Your Whistle)” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Surprise

Surprise is a Italo-house project from producer Julio Ferrarin and a cover of Rimshots 1975 disco song, “7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (Blow Your Whistle)” is the single released in 1988 on X-Energy Records. This electronic update of a disco number in the house genre which many Italian dance producers made a more upbeat sound with the same energy displayed in the original with sequencers and house bass accompanyment. “7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (Blow Your Whistle)” is a party song there is no doubt about it - and even the female chorus in this update are very much presented similarly. It is more of an example of the wide history of disco music which these producers chose to bring one of the disco anthems back in  a new way.

I have taken the 12” version of Surprise’s “7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (Blow Your Whistle)” and used another wet whistle for this ReStructure Mix. I have centered around using segments of this new version to create a looping rhythmic experience.
