ReStructure Mix Update (5/4/26): ”Roll” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Macho

Macho is a disco project from producer Jacques Fred Petrus - who also gave us Change, Rudy, Peter Jacques Band, Hi-Gloss, Revanche, Midnight Gang and Caprice. Along with arrangers Mauro Malavasi and Celso Valli, they brought disco music to its destination with the many dance floor hits and impressions left. Macho is one of their early projects from 1978 where a disco-fied version of Steve Winwood’s “I’m A Man” was taken into an electronic fantasy disco style. From there on the creativity was endless for their projects. “Roll” is from the second Macho project from 1980 and builds as the palate for their music always has. A fierce heavy guitar strom builds into a revelation of adventure and staking claim in constant roaming. It is a great follow up for those who are fans of Petrus and Malavasi along with their choice of chorus vocalist including Luther Vandross and Arthur Simms.

I have taken the album version of “Roll” and re-initiated another trip for this ReStructure Mix. Stretching out the intro for the new direction and also providing more space for this infectious track to make it mark.

ReStructure Mix Update (5/3/26): ”I Fear The Night” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tyree

Tyree is a rap artist who released a 1987 house track titled “I Fear The Night” - also featuring his sister on lead vocal under the name of Chic. A fusion of early 80s street-beat and underground house music are blended here in a dub-like arrangement. Electronic syn-drums pound out the robotic feel of this cautionary tale of a woman who finds a reluctance to head out for a night of partying due to her paranoid placement. The vocal is more of a documentary of our heroine's terror of a force which she knows will meet her if she were to venture into the night up to a vibrato of operatic tones. The drums provide the narrative groove in that 80s genre and breaks are as generous as the instrumental.

I have taken the 12” version and dub of “I Fear The Night” and re-administered a new place for this ReStructure Mix. Using the existing drums to recreate the arena in which this innovative piece helped to shape the style of house music during the 80s.

ReStructure Mix Update (5/1/26): ”Kid Get Hyped” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Deskee

Deskee (Derrick Crumpley) is a house artist who brought the recipe for dance floors of the early 90s. Throughout the mid-80s house music began as an alternative mix for pop-dance tracks which began a formula for the clubs to dance into another layer of music. This was created as a response to dance floors and club patrons so its message was easily felt and understood. “Kid Get Hyped” is an anthem for house music not only does our main man pay tribute to the genre - our producer and conductor is Westbam who began in the electronic alternative dance genre and is one of the creators who helped bring the music to its popularity. The pumping energy is what house music was all about - rejoice! A nice blend of house, new beat and alternative dance that is evident from each layer.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Kid Get Hyped” and applied more of the means for this ReStructure Mix. The guest spot by 80’s rap group Planet Patrol is given more of the energy and diverse sound it created for history.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/26/26): ”Love Can Do”” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Blue Tattoo

Blue Tattoo is an Italo-house project from Stefano Secchi - who is also known for his track “I Say Yeah” and “Keep On Jammin’”. Italo-house music was ignited with tracks like “Ride On Time” by Black Box and the sampling sensation which began to write a whole new fusion of arrangements. “Love Can Do” is one of the followers which takes samples of Whitney Houston’s “So Emotional” and translates the phrases into a new abstract dance number. The rhythm of this combination works with the similar arrangement in piano and percussion track outlining the song. It is one of the Italo-disco moments which helped to catapult similar bands and tracks as this in the early 90’s creating the Euro-house movement.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Love Can Do” and some new pieces of Whitney’s “So Emotional” and reworked it for this new ReStructure Mix. I have given the remix a new twist using the original acapella and laid out a new foundation for it.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/25/26): ”Get Up” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mr. Peach

Mr. Peach is a house music project featuring Deryck Venables, James Ryan and Matthew Roberts. Their 1992 single “Get Up” is one of the underground pieces which tied together a kickin’ house program for the dance floors during the period. “Get Up” has many riffs and solid rhythmic qualities - all that center around the chorus “get up”! It is one of the singles released with several alternative dub mixes which make it a contender for those sets which include killer rhythm pieces. The house music movement relied heavily on the dub context of a track and this one fulfills all of these outlines. The four kick ass mixes relay a variation of energy and the time of the night which helps in making programming choices.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Get Up” and reworked the entirety of remixes into one ReStructure Mix. There are drop in- and outs which feed the energy itself along with layering which makes the track even more intense.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/24/26): ”Black Jack” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The ‘V’ Project

The ‘V’ Project is a high energy project from producer Vincent Degiorgio who also gave us Tapps, Crystal In The Pink, Shezoray, Eria Fachin and Barbara Doust. A well and knowledgeable producer who took the mid-80s for an opportunity to keep the dance floors hot in the disco tradition. “Black Jack” is his 1985 cover of the Baciotti song originally released in 1977. Degiorgio takes advantage of each of the rhythmic outlines of the song and gives it a more lustful and enticing edge. The vocals flow nicely with the arrangement and as intended relay a touch of mystique to the song. High energy music is an electronic form of the disco arrangement from the late 70s and in this venture The ‘V” Project (obviously ‘Vince’ Project) takes this classic disco song right back where it left off only in a new technical stage of musical production.

I have taken the 12” vocal and dub versions of The ‘V’ Projects “Black Jack” and rewound the energy into a new ReStructure Mix. Laying out the mysterious keyboards into a new arrangement which places the song again in a new environment.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/23/26): ”Party Song” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sticky Fingers

Sticky Fingers is a disco project from veteran disco producer Ian Guenther and Willi Morrison - who also gave us The Grand Tour, THP Orchestra, Southern Exposure, Ramming Speed and The Duncan Sisters. “Party Song” is the last track on the Sticky Fingers project which also features Phyllis and Helen Duncan on lead vocals. Released on the disco label Prelude Records in 1978 and became a dance floor must for the time period. This low BPM disco/funk number gives a jam session for the musicians to play out the never ending house party occurring in our song. The fantastic vocals of Helen and Phyllis are one of the big spectacles of this production which captures their diversity in delivery and excitement. Each project from Morrison and Guenther pushes the electronic fusion in their arrangement and this one pours it on thick successfully. A must for the Prelude Records disco album collector who knows the true direction of where disco music was headed in the late seventies in appeal.

I have taken the album version of “Party Song” and have spaced the original into new segments for this ReStructure Mix. I have placed a new beat and kick to the funky arrangement to give it a new resonance as well as a new direction.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/22/26): ”Matter Of Time” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Ooscha

Ooscha is a garage/house project from Eric Miller (E-Smooth) and Joey Carvello with remix production by Maurice Joshua. “Matter Of Time” is beautifully sung in an illusive yet distinctive style and gives off the essence of tracks by synth-pop trio Expose. Keyboards lead the way with several riffs which are in the Chicago house feel using chords repeated to give the rhythmic sound. The nice drops within the arrangement are a nice temporary drop in energy and disguising the emotion of the song where our heroine is so in love it is driving her out of her mind. It has a sweet quality which pounds out the house elements in a lovely way.

I have taken the 12” version, dub and a segment of “Mo’s Mix” of “Matter Of Time” to redirect the track in a new ReStructure Mix. More of the key elements which make up the song's strength are used more as an outline in this remix.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/21/26): ”Eighth Of Your Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Gregg Diamond’s Hardware

Hardware is one of the studio projects from Gregg Diamond who made the disco world stand still with his 1977 project Bionic Boogie which featured Gwen Guthrie and Yolanda McCullough in the chorus section. The big hit “Risky Changes” created a new blend of soul/funk and the new sound of disco music during its release and was highly respected by music audiophiles and reviewers. It became the starting point for disco releases to be compared to. Of course we also know that Gregg Diamond also produced “More, More, More” by The Andrea True Connection. Hardware is a Bionic Boogie project he created for Mercury Records as he did for Marlin with his group Starcruisin’. “Eighth Of Your Love” is played out in Diamond’s fabulous method where phrases are turned inside out and then used to reference a chorus tie-line. This uplifting number has the horns that we know Diamond for and a sweet chorus introducing a hard delivery for the initial chant eventually becoming a beautiful disco crescendo. A nice closing for Diamond’s work during the disco era and a much anticipated album for myself being a big fan of his projects.

I have taken the album version of “Eighth Of Your Love” and brought it into a ReStructure Mix with what was originally laid down. A new rhythm track is laid on the foundation to grab the percussion and new segments of the chants are pieced among the new arrangement.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/19/26): ”Droid” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mito

Mito is an Italo-disco project from Italo Portesani and Stefano Secchi (later became Secchi “I Say Yeah”. Their single “Droid” was released in 1982 on Italian dance label Zanza Records and is the cover version which was originally released in 1978 under the name Automat. This full electronic production is the first element of Italian disco music which was making quite a stir in clubs around the world and was the third layer of the return of disco music since the end of the 70s. Even though many producers and groups from Italy were a large part of the disco sound during the disco era. This new sound was electronic and innovative for a time where breaks and long intros were being called “synth-pop” on the American market even though the formula remained “disco”. “Droid” has a simple arrangement which outlines a heavy keyboard sound which could be mistaken for a “Phantom Of The Opera” with the ominous feel. Italo-disco in the dance market during the early 80s was fresh and exciting and this number found its way onto many medleys and mixes in this genre.

I have taken the 12” version of “Droid” and reapplied a new edit and arrangement for this ReStructure Mix intended to pay homage to the 80s Italo-disco sound. I have given the remix more space to venture into the areas which it does and also a breakdown for the finish.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/18/26): ”Song For Denise” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Piano Fantasia

Piano Fantasia is a Italo-disco project from Thierry Durbet - who also produced “Shake It Up (Do The Boogaloo)” by Rod in 1988. “Song For Denise” is his 1985 release which is an instrumental with many elements which Italo-disco displayed during the early and mid-80s. The electronic production gives us a simple groove which a piano melody joins in throughout the piece along with a few synthesized strings and breakdown keyboard parts. It is one of the airy numbers which feels like a summer drive on a road leading to an endless destination. An arrangement which gives us more of the melody when we need the warmth of the piano and the groove to keep our bodies swaying.

I have taken the 12” version and the dub of “Song For Denise” and reworked it for this ReStructure Mix to pay homage to this lovely number. The electronic breaks and percussion are more outlined in this new arrangement and a cold fade made evident for the closing.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/17/26): ”Love Rollercoaster” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Ohio Players

Ohio Players are one of the seventies layers of funk music which left an indelible mark in history. Included in the original line up are Leroy Bonner, Billy Beck, Clarence Satchell, Ralf Middlebrooks, Marshall Jones and Jimmy Williams. “Love Rollercoaster” is from their 1975 album titled “Honey” - produced by Ohio Players. Their provocative covers were the talk of the town and their music was the move on the floor. “Love Rollercoaster” is one of their classics which in current times screams layers of working riffs which outline the band’s talent. Guitar leads take over from the get-go and create a ride itself which makes this number stand out as one of the groups best. Funk music was in its embryonic stages during the early 70s and the key to the door was held by Ohio Players.

I have taken the album version of “Love Rollercoaster” and an instrumental to revisit this exciting amusement in a new ReStructure Mix. Adding a heavy new bass beat to kick out the groove along with new percussion to make the ride feel like a new experience.
