ReStructure Mix Update (4/11/26): ”Do It” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Celena Duncan

Celena Duncan is a disco artist from the early 80s and produced by Sandy Linzer ("Native New Yorker", "Use It Up and Wear It Out" by Odyssey). “”Do It” is her single from 1982 which combines Linzer’s big band feel in a moderate and rhythmic arrangement. This piece is one of the rare disco pieces of the time and gives off the feel of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band from the late 70s. Exciting chorus segments give us a celebratory feel in a mild dose with the vocals of Celena outlining that torch diva feel. For a period where disco music became somewhat rare this one was welcomed into the 80s for many reasons not only to preserve the feel of disco music but also remind everyone how it painted the dance its true colors.

I have taken the 12” version of “Do It” and transformed the song into a new dub-like intro and extension for this ReStructure Mix. New percussion and breaks are added to give this new version a space between the wonderful vocals.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/10/26): ”Ass Up” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Baracuda

Baracuda is a German dance group featuring Axel Konrad, Ole Wierk and Tobias Lammer. Their 2005 single “Ass Up” is a techno/Euro-dance piece which lays out the delivery of this trio very well. A light hearted approach at this bawdy title plays out in a humorous and somewhat celebratory delivery. The track has a moderate techno edge which helps along the breaks where keyboards take on a segment of hard keyboard riffs and then gently guide us back into the laughable chorus. It is one of the early millennial pieces which worked well for me during private parties and those Euro-dance mixes which defy a description. All in all the tune is great fun and marks that period where Euro-dance was king.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Ass Up” and recreated a new ReStructure Mix for this novelty piece. The arrangement is laid out for the uplifting chorus to take on its strength and frivolity.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/7/26): ”Got A Love For You” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jomanda

Jomanda is Cheri Williams, Joanne Thomas, Renee Washington and Yavahn. One of the early garage/house groups of the late 80’s with the exploration of deep bass and rhythms igniting a chunk of the period as the experimental and fusion of alternative dance floor sounds.”Got A Love For You” is their single from 1991 - produced by Cassio Ware. A definitive moment for these ladies as this track gives us all of what they have been storing up from the inception of their presence. House music is the focus of the 12” single with additional production by Steve "Silk" Hurley and in his hard hitting style with plenty of bass, percussion and pulling out more than originally existed. The vocals are also a leading edge of this song as they give us a sample of the pulversizing strength that Jomanda can deliver as a team. One the peak songs for myself and my club as it always gave the floor the heat it needed for those weekend nights where everyone did what they came for.

I have taken the 12” version of the original and also a few pieces of a special 12” remixed 4 EQ (Produced by Backroom Productions) of “Got A Love For You’ to invigorate this new ReStructure Mix. Using the heavy bass of the Hurley mixes as the outline and the techno and hard house segments of the additional 12” remixes which always made it onto my turntable during those very sweaty nights.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/5/26): ”Anymore” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Brenda

Brenda is a Italo-house project from Alessandro Gilardi, Claudio Varola, DJ Silvio Perrone, Elisa Spreafichi, Michele Comis and Walter Cremonini. Released in 1991 this outlines the formula created from Black Box’s “Ride On Time” where sampled acapella phrases create the environment for the pumping bass and Chicago style piano riffs. With pieces from the 1989 house single “Not Gonna Do It” by Vicky Martin this track emphasizes where this girl will no longer do in an insatiable and vicious relationship. The execution is clever and makes a similar impact as the Black Box iconic track with plenty of diva calls to wake up any crowd. In the Italo-house genre this one is a stamp of excellence since it covers ground already passed yet it does so with its own.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Anymore” and dissected the original into segments for this ReStructure Mix. The mapping plays out with more inserts of Vicky Martin’s classic placed here and there for a new remix.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/4/26): ”Give Into Our Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Trip

Trip is a techno project from Nicole May and Sebastian Rayas. Their EP single “Fallen” was released on Sheik Records in 1990 during a transition from house music to techno and rave. The four cut EP also contained the single “Give Into Our Love” which caught my attention thanks to the vocal riff and the exuberant arrangement. Electronic music became a fusion throughout the 80’s and independent productions as these were an addition to the growth on dance floors and DJ playlists. “Give Into Our Love” is a simple track which relies on the arrangement which drops in beat and phasing for the rhythmic enhancements. One of the independent releases of the time which stand on a fusion of dance music during a transition on the dance floors.

I have taken the 12” version of “Give Into Our Love” and rewired the electronic number for a new ReStructure Mix. I have added new drum fills and percussion to pump the original method into a new experience.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/3/26): ”My Bed Is Too Big” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Blue System

Blue System is a Euro-dance project from Dieter Bohlen (Modern Talking, Lift  Up) and features a sound which dance floors clamored for in the 80s. “My Bed Is Too Big” is from their 1988 project titled “Body Heat” and plays out as a lover yearns for more intimate moments and how the nights are too long without it. The project was produced by Dieter Bohlen and Luis Rodriguez. The arrangement hits hard with the deep beats and rolling bass which takes on a sensual feel with the theme projected here. It is one which helped me get the night started early on those weekend dance meets at the club and continues to be a favorite of mine.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “My Bed Is Too Big” and relayed a new message in this ReStructure Mix. Giving the new arrangement some new breaks and also a new dub feel.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/2/26): ”B-Bass” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Bass Bumpers

Bass Bumpers are a Euro-house project from Henning Reith and Caba Kroll - founded in 1990 and taking over where Technotronic and projects in the house genre began in the late 80s. “B-Bass” is a flip side to their single “Can’t Stop Dancing” with the structure of where this style of dance music had progressed from the mid-80s to the 90s. A heavy bassline structured with the patterns of recurring chords along with a Chicago-house piano where chords strike from one end of track to guide the bass. The formula is complete on “B-Bass” with the deep mysterious energy aiming at a rhythmic integration of soulful directions taking the dance floor back to the focus. The track utilizes all of the basic and best pieces to make a standard with more the outline which dancers move to best at the time. Bass Bumpers bring the samples out to where they fit into the arrangement accordingly and leave more lasting impressions to influence future productions and arrangements.

I have taken the 12” version of “B-Bass” and used the parts of the song that move the track best for this ReStructure Mix. The foundation is lifted with pieces of the recent pop-hit by Bruno Mars to accent and flavor this groove.

ReStructure Mix Update (3/30/26): ”Fashion” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – New York Models

New York Models is a high energy project from Bobby Orlando - a vintage disco producer who also created The Flirts, Waterfront Home, Hotline, Gina Desire and Hippies With Haircuts. Orlando’s approach being a heavy percussion layer with light and simple melodies keeping the rhythm connected. “Fashion” is a 1984 release with many pieces of past productions in his arsenal with its rolling bass lines and similar chorus of his track “Passion” by The Flirts. It still cooks on the dance floor with the energy and boldness in Orlando’s single remixes. The female vocalist here explains why her lover is more than just a lover - there is a connection to the latest needed to be in style. It is another one of his sprinkled pieces in his releases and kept his name and sound out the during the 80’s and its many dance floor.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Fashion” into the ReStructure Mix realm in homage to the Orlando sound. The original elements are taken apart and reassembled to give another session of the “fashion” for more than just adorning.

ReStructure Mix Update (3/29/26): ”Rockin’ For Myself” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Motiv 8 featuring Angie Brown

Motiv 8 is a Euro-house project from Steve Rodway who also released several synth-pop tracks under Rodway including “Don’t Stop Trying” in 1983. “Rockin’ For Myself” is a track released in 1993 during the techno, house and rave segments of club dance music. It features Angie Brown on vocals and delivers a strong rippling bass number that aims to make the feet move. Rodway creates a style which incorporates the rhythms of house and high energy pulled into a Euro-styled finished product. Many of the Motiv 8 singles follow along the same arrangement with the keyboard wizardry of a number of peaks that are delivered with impact. Angie’s vocals here are limited to a few verses yet they pack the song with enough to make one remember it well.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Rockin’ For Myself” and reignited the energy here for a new ReStructure Mix. Taking parts of the 4 original remixes into a new arrangement and giving this one more space to control the oncoming energy. A salute to Rodway and his contributions to dance music and its changing formats.

ReStructure Mix Update (3/27/26): ”Disco Monster” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Hope

Hope is a progressive house project from David C. Hope. His 1993 single “Disco Monster” follows a percolating instrumental dub which follows the Donna Summer classic “I Feel Love” - using Giorgio Moroder’s sequencer
patterns as a guide for this dance trip with a few new twists and turns. Singles as this number is produced were used as mix-out segments to bring the dance crowd back down for a bit and this one truly follows this method. It is one of the early 90s experimental tracks. The male voice in the blend repeats “hot stuff” over the twisting patterns and gives  a bit of a clue to the title, “Disco Monster”.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Disco Monster” and readministered a touch more of the influence for this ReStructure Mix. Using more  of Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff” for the obvious direction along with more ways to pound out the classic sound.
