ReStructure Mix Update (6/12/26): ”Superstar” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Rollergirl

Rollergirl is Nicole Safft a German Euro-house artist who along with her husband producer, Alex Christensen created the act that would release the single “Superstar” in 2000. The track is a bubbly and sexy number for the dance floor and makes the electronic production blush a few times. It is one of the fun-filled dance numbers of the time period and has a slight essence of “Barbie Girl” yet stands on its own merit. The trickling keyboards make an exciting and groovy rhythm which allows this dance number to take flight and also give Rollergirl a few moments of light hearted dedication. One of the millennium moments which mark another shift in dance floor music history.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Superstar” and combined several parts of each mix for this ReStructure Mix and disco roller fun. The emphasis on the cute and sexy vocal riffs are given their spot along with a few new decorations.

ReStructure Mix Update (6/7/26): ”Move Your Body (Elevation)” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Xpansions

Xpansions is a house music project from Martin Spreckley, Phil Drummond, Richie Malone and Sally Anne Marsh. Their 1990 release titled “Move Your Body (Elevation)” is one of the most identifiable underground club tracks of its time. Produced by Richie Malone this number utilizes the street and club riffs of the time and creates a luminous aura in its wake. A fierce drum beat and several samples from Rose Royce and The Amazing Bongo Band bring this intense track to the floor. With the samples of the lead vocal repeating the chorus riff in segments are one of the moments which bring house dance music to its feet. A song which outlines the early 90s club direction and dedication to bringing the light to its brightest beam.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Move Your Body (Elevation)” to a new outline in this ReStructure Mix. I have paced the synthetic strings into a new intro where they bring the song into a new state of mind and dance.

ReStructure Mix Update (6/5/26): ”Call Me Tonight” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Destiny Love

Destiny Love is an Almighty Records production from Graham Willcocks, Mark Spencer and Martyn Norris and features Earnestine Pearce (The Flirtations) on lead vocals. Their 1991 release is a high energy cover of Cerrone’s classic “Call Me Tonight” and displays the song with a 90’s house edge - including the diva-fused vocals expressing the anticipation of a lovers late night visit. The original disco version from Cerrone features Michelle Aller who also wrote “Love Fire” by Syreeta and “Take Me Home” along with the fabulous Bob Esty. This 90’s emulation brings the song into a hard beat kicking style with the rendition more soulful and defined. It is another one of the great Almighty disco classic covers which rings out new excitement. Although Cerrone’s beautiful piano and synth-key parts are missing, the electronic arrangement carries the track to a new satisfaction.

I have taken the 12” Mighty Mix vocal and pieces of the remix of Destiny Love’s cover of “Call Me Tonight” and reapplied a new feel for this ReStructure Mix. I have given the chorus its own breakdown as well as a few segments of the pumping mix into the house. Cerrone himself makes a cameo in the new instrumental layout.

New Paradise is a disco ensemble with Carol B., Carol Hadden, Catherine Russell, Kazuko, Kelly , Nikko, Radiah Frye and Tiffanie. This sexy act was created by singer/producer Leo Carrier and brought the European flair of pop-disco into the 80s. “I Love Video” is from the 1981 self-titled project which brought the electronic edge of the new dance sound which this new period of dance music was in demand on dance floors. The bubbly keyboards are a riff right out of “Funkytown” and make the piece fun and noteworthy. This subject was fresh during the early 80s when video cams and players began to change the way we viewed movies and television all together. The alluring vocals confess how the medium has affected their desire to use video in this exciting time.

I have taken the 12” version of “I Love Video” and reconnected the track again for a new ReStructure Mix. There are many new turns including a new drum track and percussion to make this simple yet enticing number more fun and moving.

Midnight Passion is an Italian disco from Crusin’ Records who also produced Crusin’ Gang. Their first single titled “I Need Your Love” was released in 1986 and is an arrangement in the genre of Italian dance music from the mid-80’s fused from the early productions creating a solid path to follow. This track utilizes the formula with the electronic percussion setting the canvas for the dramatic flare similar to the classic disco formula. “I Need Your Love” has vocals that are 80s pensive style along with the colorful and abstract edge. One of the Italo-disco pieces which celebrates the genre in full force and energy.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “I Need Your Love” and taken pieces into a new ReStructure Mix. More of a fade in on the excitement and a fade out to the unique riffs which decor this creative number.

Hananas is an Italo-disco project from Mauro Farina, Pierre Feroldi and Roberto Arduini. This electronic ensemble released a cover of Giorgio Moroder’s classic “From Here To Eternity” on Zanza Records. A synth-trip from the early 80s where the simplistic arrangement was to emulate the Moroder genius note per note. This cover takes a nice edge and yet relays less of a sweet resonance as the original and more of a robotic impression. The programming of sequencers were the factor in attempting to bring this classic in the Italo-disco arena and is given the accolades for the moment and savvy for the good taste of disco classics.

I have taken the 12” vocal and dub of Hananas’ cover of “From Here To Eternity” and reworked the elements of both into a new ReStructure Mix. I have used the segment of “Utopia-Me Giorgio” (which seems to have been used in most covers of this track) and used it more of the preface of the remix.

ReStructure Mix Update (5/28/26): ”Saved” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Grace Jones

Grace Jones is one of unique acts to have captured the stage in music history. During the formulation of disco music in the mid and late 70s her presence has always drawn curious and surprised responses. Her music during the disco years was a flavor of symphonic disco arrangements along with her daring flare and overpowering stance. “Muse” is the title of her 1979 project and was produced by Tom Moulton. This wicked disco features a medley with a tale of shifts in attitude during a dark side and eventually ending with “Saved”. This gospel fused piece is Grace’s most exuberant tracks from her disco albums giving her the freedom to relay uplifting excitement yet the somewhat reluctance of her personality. This number closes out the segued side one medley in an appropriate manner and gives us another side of Jones.

I have taken the album version of “Saved” and reworked the church organs and backing vocals from The Brotherhood into a new ReStructure Mix. The building verses are distributed in a new way and also given more space for breaks and loop-effects.

ReStructure Mix Update (5/25/26): ”Put Yourself In My Place” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – TJM

TJM is a disco project from legendary disco remix engineer and music producer, Thomas Jerome Moulton. This 1979 album was released on Casablanca Records and features a four track disco/soul production with a full orchestration and arrangement with Arthur Baker. Vocals are provided by the ensemble The Brotherhood - who were also featured on Grace Jones’ “Muse” project also produced by Tom Moulton. “Put Yourself In My Place” has a heavy dose of soul music and its wear on heartache and pain. It is not surprising for Moulton to deliver a soulful edge with the disco flare included. The breaks are the disco stamps on these heavily percussion sprinkled over the groove which gives off a more eminent purpose for dance floors in the late 70s. The arrangement of “Put Yourself In My Place” is a Moulton masterpiece as the main riffs become the focal point of the song itself. TJM is a must for any disco audiophile who is desirous of the dance floor experience of the 70s.

I placed the album version of “Put Yourself In My Place” onto the ReStructure Mix cutting block to give the piece another round. I have used parts of the original outline and completed my remix in new segments and purpose.
