"Don't Push It, Don't Force It" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Leon Haywood

"Don't Push It, Don't Force It" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Leon Haywood

Leon Haywood (Otha Leon Haywood) is a singer, songwriter and producer - recording since the 60's his soulful voice and delivery were easy to detect. His career spanned through the 80's. One of his most memorable tracks from the post disco era in 1980 is from his LP "Naturally" - "Don't Push It, Don't Force It".

It is a track that worked well in a time when BPM's were dropping and funk was infused in many club tracks. Most high energy material was coming from Canada or the UK.

I have taken "Don't Push It, Don't Force It" and given it a complete overhaul leaving the chorus as a statement. There are some new breaks and beats added for funky measure.

"You Got What It Takes" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bobby Thurston

"You Got What It Takes" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bobby Thurston

Bobby Thurston hit the disco scene during the late 70's - his LP "You Got What It Takes" featured the title track and a few other disc jockey favorites. The project was produced by Willie Lester and Rodney Brown and features their funk and disco flavor blended like rich "disco brew".

I have taken "You Got What It Takes" into a ReStructure phase and paved a whole new intro with a few loop and definitive effects. The song definitely has the power of funk and the slick sound that disco music is all about. Perhaps one of the best Prelude Records has to offer!

"Outa-Space" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Billy Preston

Billy Preston (William Everett Preston) is a soul musician who had a successful career - Grammy Award-winner and collaborated with such artists as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Nat King Cole, Sly Stone. Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more.

His 1972 hit instrumental "Outa-Space" is a soul dance classic and is one of the funkiest pieces of guitar and keyboard numbers from the period. Surely influencing many musicians and artists in the years ahead.

I have taken this soul classic and given it a ReStructure Mix with a new edit adding a new mix-in drum arrangement with a whole new feel to emphasize take off to "outa-space' - and of course the Starship E. to guide you through this trip!

"Knockout" by Margie Joseph - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Knockout" by Margie Joseph - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Margie Joseph has been recording since 1969 - her first single "One More Chance". She made her way to the 80's with a solo LP titled "Knockout" - a big funk/dance hit in clubs the song is still alive in the minds and feet of many dance music connoisseurs.

I have take her 1982 dance track and paired it up with Barbra Streisand and Ryan O' Neil (together again - since "What's Up Doc") in "The Main Event" - the story of a perfume magnate who loses her company and success finding all that is let is a contract for a boxer - which she purchased as a tax write off. Thus, Ryan O' Neil enters.

The film had it's own disco soundtrack - but I have added a twist with Margie Joseph's dance number - a few "punches" and connections.

The film was directed by Howard Zieff

"Eat You Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Angie Gold

"Eat You Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Angie Gold

Angie Gold (Angelina Fiorina Kyte) released her first self titled LP in 1982 - there was a great career awaiting her in the dance arena. Her 1985 single "East You Up" is now a high energy classic. Absorbing the sound which made the early 80's a rejuvenated disco period with new rules.

Angie voices immediately captures your attention in her recordings. In "Eat You Up" her power over comes you and rolls along with the crashes and impact of the incredible production by Les Hunt (Simone, Linda Lewis).

I have taken the awesome song onto my ReStructure cutting board and had breathed a few new methods of "getting even" with Angie. There are lots of surprises and new breaks.

Dedicated to the lovely and very talented, Ms. Angie Gold

"Paradise Island" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Wonderland Band

"Paradise Island" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Wonderland Band

One of the last big disco productions - The Wonderland Band is a campy studio session with the theme of super-heroes. With Wonder Woman and Superman included. But, the production gives off the serious end of the full and satisfying disco sound.

"Paradise Island" is another track from the album that explores a make-believe place where love and happiness grown and mystery and intrigue are alive. This is the perfect disco fantasy and rightfully so. The flashing lights and and freedom on the floor are endless if you understand and let yourself go.

I have ReStructured the 12" remix into a new atmosphere keeping in mind that this song soars several times into a place where the dance floor can take advantage of. It has a bit more breakdowns and slices the long drum break into segments.

This production was by Morrie Brown and features lead vocals by Deedee Dennard and backing by Clydene Jackson, Julia Waters and Maxine Waters.

"Reverend Lee" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paradise Express

"Reverend Lee" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paradise Express

Paradise Express is one of the pinnacle disco bands of the late 70's - along with producer/musician Herb Jimmerson (who left us in 1998) and his then wife, Vi Ann the disco scene was elated. Their first single "Dance" (a cover of Paul Jabara's hit) was released in 1978 on their initial album. The excitement started, but did not end there.

"Reverend Lee" is a track from the LP which was featured as a B-side to "Star In My Life". It is a cover of Roberta Flack's recording from 1972 (the flip side to "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face".

ViAnn is living and enjoying her beautiful horses - but unfortunately, no longer singing. I had communicated with her last year and she asked about a remix for this track - so it is dedicated to ViAnn of Paradise Express and for what she has given to her disco music fans - it will last forever.

Thank you, ViAnn - peace and love.

"Come And Get Your Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Redbone

"Come And Get Your Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Redbone

Redbone is Pete de Poe, Anthony Bellamy, Lolly Vegas and Pat Vegas - a band former in 1968 from Fresno, California.

Their big 1973 boogie hit was "Come And Get Your Love" - a funky laid back groove with tempting vocals to fit the 70's dance field and a growing need for more. Redbone had a another hit in 1971 titled "The Witch Queen of New Orleans" - a pop-rock track. Staying power and catchy groove of "Come And Get Your Love" have made it a favorite among soul and disco audiophiles.

I have take the album version along with the accapella intro and created an extended ReStructure Mix to keep dance floors swaying their hips left and right for a while longer. New beats, claps and mild effects are added for giving it a new feel.

"Agent 406" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lime

"Agent 406" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lime

Another big instrumental piece from the fingers of Denis LePage of Lime. This comes from the first album titled "Your Love". The track is similar to much of the keyboard work of LePage in the early 80's working with talented artists such as Carol Jiani, Chris Mills and much of his solo work ("Hot Wax"). However, the classic cowbell percussion track always provided a great foundation for his free will.

"Agent 406" wraps a layer of dynamic strings and the model keyboard that worked for Lime during the early years.

I have ReStructured the track giving it longer intro to the orchestral pieces and added few effects to give more excitement to the story occurring on the dance floor.

Dedicated to Lime ans everywhere!

"They Only Come Out At Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Peter Brown

"They Only Come Out At Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Peter Brown

Peter Brown is a musical genius. His work in the late 70's helped disco music to become funky and creative. His tracks "Do You Wanna Get Funky With Me", "Dance With Me" and "Crank It Up (Funk Town)" are disco classics. What many are not aware of is that he also wrote Madonna's big hit, "Material Girl".

"They Only Come Out At Night" is from Brown's LP "Snap" from 1984 - a sensitive time for dance musicians and artists from the 70's - it was a time to see who could stay a float with the slight changes in music and demands. Brown pulls it off very well his with his electronic orchestra and style.

I have ReStructured the track with a new meaning in mind for both dance floor and those creatures of the night - both past and present.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Armando A. from Mexico for his continuing support and love for dance music.

"Fly With The Wind" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Peter Jacques Band

Jacques Fred Petrus produced many disco sessions in Italy during the late 70's - some of his best know are Macho ("I'm A Man") and Peter Jacques Band ("Fire Night Dance" - with the help of arranger Mauro Malavasi there was distinctive sound that displayed how disco music was growing and adapting with time.

"Fly With The Wind" is the finale track on this album and always amazed me (as the entire session has) on how beautifully produced and arranged it was. My only attempt at this ReStructure Mix was to expose the song to new listeners and create a new version to become hypnotized to.

"Dance Yourself Dizzy" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Liquid Gold

Liquid Gold is Ellie Hope, Ray Knott, Syd Twynham, Wally Rothe and Tom Marshall - a disco group from Brackley in Northamptonshore, UK

Their 1979 disco hit, "Dance Yourself Dizzy" is one of big sounds of the disco era which has the uplifting feel that made this music a household name. It was released in the US as a single following the success of "My Baby's Baby" which was remixed by Ritchie Rivera.

The group was produced by Adrian Baker

I have ReStructured "Dance Yourself Dizzy" by scrambling the original 12" version into a few more breaks and a longer intro and fade out.

"Let's Start The Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bohannon

Hamilton Bohannon began his career in the early 70's. Many of his early projects were centered on soulful dance tracks that eventually lead to the Bohannon sound of disco music.

"Let's Start The Dance" is from his 1978 LP "Summertime Groove" - it is one Bohannon's best known pieces and was re-released in 1981 as "Let's Start The Dance Again" with an added rap to the formula.

“Let The Good Times Roll” by Fern Kinney - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Let The Good Times Roll” by Fern Kinney - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Fern Kinney made a bit break in discotheques with her 1979 hit, “Groove Me” - an electronic cover of King Floyd’s classic track. In 1981 Fern released her second album titled “Fern” - a track that was a b-side to her single “Love Me Tonight” was another cover - this time Shirley and Lee’s rock ‘n’ roll hit “Let The Good Times Roll” - the arrangement was a bouncy spaced-out feel complete with lunar lading effects.

I have taken the 1973 film by George Lucas “American Graffiti starring Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Paul LeMat, Cindy Williams and Harrison Ford and matched the nostalgia to a different beat. The film is a classic among rock ‘n’ roll fans and now a new outline gives it a new life.

"Discotque" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lipstique

"Discotque" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lipstique

Disco producer Jurgen S. Korduletsch brought to dance floors some of the most disco glittery tracks and artists. His 1977 studio production of Lipstique was recorded in Munich, Germany and was a wall of disco sound. From the fabulous cover of Chubby Checker's "At The Discotheque" to the pieces mixed within.

"Discotique" is a piece of music from the side one medley which always caught my attention - some may know it as the theme o the "American Bandstand" Disco Dance Contest. It is a disco fantasy complete with hand claps, stomping beat, percussion on swirling disco strings. A great piece of disco music which expresses the excitement of the period.

I have ReStructured the piece and extended it with a new intro, new beats and a few surprises. It had always been one of my favorite tracks and once again reminds us of the moment disco music took off into the pop world.

"Ooh, La La" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Suzi Lane

"Ooh, La La" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Suzi Lane

Suzi Lane was one of 1979's big surprises in discotheques - not only had Suzi's sensual and captivating vocals captured hearts on the dance floor. It was also a production from Giorgio Moroder that returned to the Munich formula which captured the magic and mystique of disco music.

The title track "Ooh, La, La" was penned by Chris Bennett (Munich Machine) and featured a synth-funk feel along with the pulse of Moroder and Harold Faltermeyer's winding music. It was a release that also encapsulated the eel of the disco night life.

I have taken Suzi's incredible vocals and created a whole new arrangement in this ReStructure Mix - allot of teasing a sample-loops to pull a more mystic-like feel with the song.

Dedicated to Suzi (Lane) Brooks and Chris Bennett for their talent and beauty as women of disco music

“Love Attack” by Ferrara - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Love Attack” by Ferrara - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

John Ferrara produced “Wuthering Heights” in 1979 - a modern day soundtrack to the Emily Bronte novel of unfortunate love. The disco tale is expressed through synthesizers and an operatic-like chorus which features Irene Datcher and Angie Bofill.

Side B of this project features a disco classic titled “Love Attack” which outlines a flurry of flute interludes into disco breaks and bass tracks. The song did quite well at the close of the disco era and was also featured on Disconet where a special remix was done by DJ Vallapucci - this mix was created using looping and a few sound effects from “Halloween sound effects albums.

“Love Attack” and pieces of the Vallapucci Mix are featured in this Disco Video Mix with the gruesome horror film “Friday the 13th” from 1980 and starring Kevin Bacon, Betsy Palmer and Adrienne King. The film depicts Camp Crystal Lake where a camp counselors are doomed thanks to the mishap of a small boy drowning while the two on duty were off making love.

It is a heinous and crazy ride in the Disco Video Mix and you will find that the Vallapucci Mix was definitely my motivation! Have fun.

"Eloise" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paris Connection

"Eloise" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paris Connection

Alec R. Costandinos brought Euro-disco to America along with artists like Cerrone, Alan Hawkshaw and Don Ray during the mid 70's - a sound which bridged a gap between disco and rock as the Philadelphia sound joined soul and disco.

Paris Connection is a project from 1978 arranged by Raymond Tarras Knehnetsky which covered the 1968 song "Eloise" recorded by Barry Ryan an English pop singer. Also brought the disco symphonia was the Righteous Brothers classic, "You've Lost That Loving Feeling".

I have taken the magical feel of "Eloise" and have given it a slight re-edit with a new intro and keeping in mind the sweetness expressed in the lyrics and disco symphony which Costandino's favored so well.
