ReStructure Mix Update (9/20/26): “Wildfire" – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Time Bandits

Time Bandits are a synth-pop band from The Netherlands - with Alides Hidding on lead vocals and author of most of their music. “Wildfire” is from their 1987 album “Can’t Wait For Another World” - produced by Dan Hartman (“Instant Replay”, “Relight My Fire”). This is a powerhouse number with all the ammunition the dance floor could stand. It begins as a simple love song and then builds into one of the rhythms which are reminiscent of a Motown era song. There are moments in this piece where the layout becomes a lure for the heart and feet. The group has always proven they could do more and more with dance floor hits “Live It Up”, “I’m Only Shooting Love” and “I’m Specialized In You” - their formula never lets up. “Wildfire” is the crossroads for this band as it brings the best of their talents to the core.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Wildfire” and reworked these flames into a new ReStructure Mix. I have taken the intro into a new early morning feel with more mystery on what we are about to experience next.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/17/26): “Piraña" – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Adal-Scandy Super Band

Adal-Scandy Super Band is an Italian disco project from producer Stefano Scandolara. “Piraña" is their 1979 release and the song was written by Celso Valli (Tantra, Nuggets, V.I.S.A., Azoto) who worked with Scandolara on several projects during the late 70s. “Piraña" is a high-energy disco number with the European flavor crossing into the electronic arrangements which began emerging in the last part of the 7os. This whirling number features a female chorus singing about the power of the night in the disco era. It has several breakdowns which make it another one of the great Italian dance numbers of the disco era.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Piraña" and reapplied some new re-piecing of the song into a new ReStructure Mix. There is a tribute to Celso Valli using one of his classics in the closing fade.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/15/26): “Sixty-Nine" – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Brooklyn Express

Brooklyn Express is a disco group from Began Cekic along with Eric Durham and formulated an outline for medleys and covers of dance classics from the early and mid-70s. “Sixty-Nine” is their 1981 single which became one of the most notable for clubs at the time. This medley uses pieces of Jimmy “Bo” Horne’s “Spank” and a few other recognizable riffs from tracks that shared the hot moments on dance floors. The approach is an early dub-like version focusing on the rhythmic and percussive parts of the song. The raw feel is the magic which works here along with the great musicians recreating a foundation for the pieces of existing recordings. This group was also co-produced by Fred Zarr who worked with Jacques Morali (Village People, The Ritchie Family).

I have taken the 12” versions of “Sixty-Nine” and have used the concept for a deeper dive in this ReStructure Mix. Taking a few more Jimmy “Bo’ Horne classics and placing them alongside this remix take the dance experience into another realm of disco fantasy.

Future State is an Italian disco project from Celso Valli (Passengers, Tantra, V.I.S.A., Macho, Azoto, Laser, Nuggets) who has always left a production with his incredible mark of filling in rhythm with unforgettable instrumentation. “Future State” is a project from 1983 which has another unique sound and his ability to make a moment of dancing seem like a ritual. The technical reverberations of this piece are a mystical experience as Valli creates in a mild yet intense measure. The vocals have a touch of the 80s nu-wave edge with keyboards piercing as though they were an AI release on a vengeance. The track is one of his underground productions which immediately brings the 80’s synth-pop feel with more of his own magic.

I have taken the 12” version of “Future State” and reapplied the energy for this ReStructure Mix with a new layout. Using pieces of classic Kratwerk innovative riffs to fill in the direction of the futuristic edge.

Masquerade is Boris Midney's fourth project - who took the disco sound and created a sound all his making. With music elements arranged in an artistic and raw manner. When a beautiful string and piano interlude could suddenly open a wall of bongos and percussion. His work was magic at a time when disco music was at its creative peak. “Open The Secret Door” comes from his project titled Masquerade - a discofied interpretation of the tale, Pinocchio. This version with a disco edge outlining the funkiness of the puppet as he is carved by his master and eventually discovers his way to becoming a real human boy throughout his disco adventure. “Open The Secret Door” is the finale where Midney takes the tale and puts an ending where it is all art becoming life. His orchestrations here are a bit subtle and less symphonic as it outlines the story in a raw but creative manner.

I have taken the album version of “Open The Secret Door” and placed it with care as it is from one of my favorite producers, arrangers and groups of the disco era and played it out in a new ReStructure Mix. There is a new rhythm track assisting the groove and a few new segments added for the retelling of this great disco track.

Klein and M.B.O. is an Italo-disco project from the early 80s led by Mario Boncaldo and Tony Carrasco. The presence of their dance floor hit “Dirty Talk” from 1982 is a point of direction on where innovative dance was headed. This piece created a percolating rhythmic outline with elements influenced by bands like Kraftwerk smoked out of the concoction. “Dirty Talk” became a fascination more than anything and helped shift the influence of house music to a spark. “Dirty Talk ‘92” is a more hard-beat cover of the song in a fierce drum foundation to rock the energy in a new way. It is in some ways a techno approach with a Belgium Beat influence. The new production from Anthony Mannino and Ralphie Dee is a fantastic new application which makes a new stance for the song itself.

I have taken the 12” remix of “Dirty Talk ‘92” using both the “‘92 version " and " to work out a new take for this ReStructure Mix. I have forever pounded those drums again for a new outline and also added more of the original pieces from the original to give it a new resonance.

Chapter One is Danny Rodriguez, Steve Muñoz, Martin Rodriguez and Dana Laguna - formerly titled Stop with the big high-energy single “Wake Up” from 1985. “Playing With Love” is a single released in 1987 and produced by Martin Rodriguez. This track has a Latin edge which makes it pump along with its house bass track and segments emulating an electric Flamenco sound. Dana Laguna leads it on vocals and is a playful dance number which gives off a touch of Miami-freestyle in a delicate way. It is one of the singles from an independent dance label which made playlists with Miami dance in focus. The rolling bass and Latin style keyboards give this one an instant rush for the 80s and also makes waves for the boys who brought us the classic “Wake Up”.

I have taken the 12” vocal and dub of “Playing With Love” and laid out pieces and parts for a new ReStructure Mix. I have added more of the percussion riffs over places where another riff was needed and also extended their verses.

Madonna built a stage for herself during the early 80s and a career which lasts to the day. Her second project titled “Like A Virgin” from 1984 was another big surprise album full of singles which sparked her fame even further. The production by Nile Rogers (Chic, Sister Sledge, Diana Ross) is a synth-pop layout which gives a complete sound working alongside Madonna’s enthusiastic vocal treatment. “Dress You Up” is one of Madonna’s big pop-hits and was another double play for her playful manner. This number is clever in lyrics and also the fast moving arrangement where each verse and chorus is closer to a home stretch. It builds like a new sound for the 80s time period and is one of her most memorable moments once again.

I have taken the 12” single remixes of “Dress You Up” and realigned the powerful outline for a new ReStructure Mix. I have used more of the lyrics in place for new breaks and worked to make this another sensual approach for Madonna.

N-Trance is a British techno/Euro-dance band featuring Dale Longworth, Kevin O'Toole and Rachel McFarlane. The single titled “Turn Up The Power” is their 1994 release and is a cross between techno and rave elements over a house bass beat. It is one of the pieces which pair out the distance of genres of dance music during the 90s. This fast moving number gives off the rolling bass which keeps the energy piercing onto the dance floor in a mild and ambient delivery. I have always placed this one in the peak sets where the techno pulsating rhythm needs a slight relaxing moment where dancers can find their energy to release again.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Turn Up The Power” and reworked the striking keyboards and bass into a new ReStructure Mix. I have added portions of “Pulstar” by Mc Lane Explosion into the mix to give a new direction for the energy and theme here.
