"Take My Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Nancy Wilson

"Take My Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Nancy Wilson

Nancy Wilson is the jazz singer who recorded more than 70 albums and holds three Grammy Awards to her success. In 1980 Nancy recorded her album "Take My Love" - produced by Larry Farrow and Carolyn Johns. The project gave Nancy an opportunity to grace a wonderful disco track - "Take My Love".

This album contains Nancy's style in her jazz style and also soul/disco genre. It was quite exciting to hear this iconic voice again to a beautiful and lyrical dance number.

I have taken the album version of "Take My Love" and have given it a ReStructure Mix to strike up that Nancy feeling again with that touch of soul. It is a sound that began to emerge at the end of the disco boom as tracks like "Sweet Talk" by Robin Beck began to make club charts.

"I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross -- Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross -- Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Diana Ross took the 80s as the top "disco treat" in 1980 with her album titled "Diana" -- with a production by disco duo, Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers of Chic. The surpr

ise was that the transformation from disco to a funky-"Chic" sound was quite effective and lasting.

"I'm Coming Out" is the second hit from the project and is not only a marker for the Diva of Motown to announce her stance as a lasting performer and artist but also a personal anthem for many gay and lesbian pride celebrations for years following its club success.

I have taken the 1997 comedy titled "In & Out" starring Kevin Kline, Tom Selleck and Debbie Reynolds. The film was inspired by Tom Hank's speech during a 1994 Oscar win for his performance in "Philadelphia". Both move together with the celebratory mood and also the wacky scenes of our main character's struggle to accept himself, as is.

The film was directed by Frank Oz

"Hot For You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Brainstorm

"Hot For You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Brainstorm

Brainstorm is Belita Woods, Charles Overton, Deon Estus, Gerald Kent, Jeryl Bright, Lamont Johnson, Larry Sims, Renell Gonsalves, Robert Ross, Trenita Womack, andWilliam L. Wooten, III - a 70s funk/disco band who brought to the disco round a classic titled "Lovin' Is Really My Game" in 1977 - a classic with the lead vocal by Benita Woods!

"Hot For You" is from their 1979 album "Funky Entertainment" and pulls another big punch with a fast paced funky disco piece. It is one of my favorite high energy disco numbers of that year.

I have taken the original 12" extended mix by Mr. Rick Gianatos and ReStructured the song to pull a few more punches, add a familiar classic disco riff and give Benita another chance to make your feet and hips work!

Dedicated to the wonderful memory of Ms. Benita Woods who passed this year - her energy is still here - feel it!

“Lady Marmalade” by Labelle – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Lady Marmalade” by Labelle – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Labelle is Patti Labelle, Sarah Dash and Non Hendryx – a funk/soul female trio who began recording in the early 70s. Their 1974 album “Nightbirds” made history with the single “Lady Marmalade” which became a soul/pop hit and an everlasting echo of the funk in disco music’s early stages. Produced by Allen Toussaint.

I have taken the song and blended it in a Disco Video Mix with the 1963 romantic comedy, “Irma la Deuce” starring Shirley McLaine and Jack Lemmon. The setting of Hotel Casanova and the lane of working girls in France lift the song for a stage for pieces of light drama and a few dances scenes!

"Radio Action" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Claudja Barry

"Radio Action" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Claudja Barry

Claudja Barry is a performer who began her career in Munich, Germany and eventually became one of disco music most celebrated artists.l He early hits "Sweet Dynamite", "Dancin' Fever" and the big "Boogie Woogie Dancin' Shoes" are track which expose the disco beat properly.

"Radio Action" is from Claudja's 1981 album "Made In Hong King" - produced by her husband Jurgen Koduletch (Disco Circus, Ronnie Jones, Lipstique). This track is in the uplifting disco genre with a high chorus which makes any dancer feel higher than the mirror ball.

I have taken the 12" version and have given it a ReStructure Mix to pull that classic sequencer layer out and play a bit with the vocals and verses. It is a whole new track now with some of the new beats guiding the promise of success as the lyrics say.

"Bad Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cher

"Bad Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cher

Cher has taken over the dance floor again! "Take Me Home" is a classic disco track created by Bob Esty and the fabulous essence of Cher. It was not long until a follow-up and more, were demanded.

"Bad Love" is a track written by Cher and produced by Giorgio Moroder from the soundtrack of the motion picture "Foxes" from 1980. This electronic whirl into the sound that Moroder created and perfected is a risque and tantalizing piece of disco work.

I have taken the soundtrack version and created a ReStructure Mix - making the synthesizers work for Cher in a new way. It is a whole new ball-game so get your mitts and head to the dance floor - ala Cher!

"What About Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - France Joli

"What About Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - France Joli

How can you say France Joli without saying "Come To Me"? The biggest dance floor painted "disco" in the late 70s. France has come a long way back claim her fame as it always should have been.

"What About Me" is a track from her 1985 album "Witch Of Love" - which also featured her song, "Does He Dance" featured in the film "Perfect". The song "What About Me" is a 3:45 minute track that I always had a heck of time trying to extend when the album was new. Thanks to a request by friends, Nick and Lindsay (from Australia) I have taken on a ReStructure Mix for the dance number.

New intro - added effects and a familiar chorus to give France more to think about as a love ends and leaves someone lonely...as love always does when it ends.

For Nick and Lindsay! Thank you boys - here is the longue version!

"How High The Moon" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Gloria Gaynor

"How High The Moon" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Gloria Gaynor

Gloria Gaynor is the voice which brought disco music to a frantic celebration. Her first LP "Never Say Goodbye" produced by Jay Ellis, Meco Monardo and Tony Bongiovi seemed to capture a sound which discotheques where searching for. Along with the help of Tom Mouton and the disco mix the rest was made by dancers and history.

"How How The Moon" is a cover of the Benny Goodman & His Orchestra recording done with disco flare and excitement. Complete with vocals by the queen of dance! This is truly a blockbuster moment!

I have taken the album version which holds true to the first Gaynor album in the antidote for disco's sheer way of symphony and funky grooves. A new ReStructure Mix gives the bass line a front and of course the swooning strings a chance to tell their story.

Nick and Lindsay - Once again, for you both. Thank you for requesting the hidden giants and helping me to keep the sound of disco in it's great shell alive!

"Green Light" by Cory Daye -- Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Green Light" by Cory Daye -- Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Cory Daye is known for her classic performances with Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band -- "Cherchez La Femme" and "I'll Play The Fool" from 1976 -- during the creative growth of disco music. Along with producers Sandy Linzer and August Darnell (Machine) the stage was set for Cory to record her own solo album in 1979 -- " Cory and Me".

The first big disco hit "Pow Wow" was followed appropriately by the flip side of the big 12" single, "Green Light". It is the sound of a lighter edge of big-band along with the familiar theme of making the man come to momma.

I have taken "Green Light" and blended it with the 1984 film, "Swing Shift" with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell -- and although the theme of the film is much different from the disco hit -- I used parts of the big-band era and the heroine's dilemma to match the disco beats and drama

"Don't Worry Baby" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Good Vibrations

"Don't Worry Baby" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Good Vibrations

The Good Vibrations is a disco project from producer Stewart Levine - known for productions with Hugh Masekela, The Crusaders, Minnie Riperton and Rare Earth. His project "I Get Around" is a disco-fied production of songs by The Beach Boys.

This is one of the early disco projects which fit into the complete arrangement and orchestration of an ensemble. Very well placed and also features the late, great Luther Vandross on vocals and also David Lasley and Arnold McCuller - crooning a new sound for the pop-beach sound of the 60s translated to the disco dance floor.

I have taken the album version of "Don't Worry Baby" and have given it a new ReStructure Mix adding a few pieces from another disco cover of the Beach Boys tunes by Sea Cruise. The drum beats of the original are the foundation again and the sweet ballad feel of the song.

"Happily Ever After" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer

"Happily Ever After" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer

Donna Summer took discotheques on a magical journey with her 1977 double-album "Once Upon A Time". And with musical arrangement in the hands of disco producer, composer and conductor Bob Esty the story was complete. Each track in this package is a golden moment filling in the make-believe fairy tale of a modern day Cinderella.

I have taken the finale closing dance track from side 4, "Happily Ever After" and decided to play with the rejoice in the closing of our tale. It is a ReStructure Mix which extends the original album version and gently takes segments into a deep-breakdown. It is a playful remix which only lends my play in one of my favorite musical productions ever!

"I Can See Him Makin' Love To You, Baby" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ray Dahrouge

"I Can See Him Makin' Love To You, Baby" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ray Dahrouge

Ray Dahrouge is a singer, producer, writer and arranger who has worked on many projects in the recording industry since the late 60s. His 1976 production of Street People and his genius of blending a Philly sound along with the sound of the growing disco trends is one of his talents I have been moved by.

"Rendezvous With Destiny" is 1979 album with the hit "I Can See Him Makin' Love To You, Baby" which helped the big year of disco sound complete. The track is a catchy post-love song with the pain and regrets. The emotion that flow along with the dramatic strings and funky guitars pulls it all together in the production. Disco producer John Davis assists here on the arranging and conducting along with Billy Terrell co-producing.

I have taken the 12" version of "I Can See Him Making Love To You, Baby" and rerouted the mix with the emphasis on those infectious wah-wah guitars to give this new ReStructure Mix a new feeling.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to the man himself, Mr. Ray Dahrouge who has given a new shade of sound to disco music with his talent and love. Thank you, Ray!

You can find Ray on Facebook along with more of his recent music at: https://www.facebook.com/ray.dahrouge

"J'ai Deux Amours (Two Loves Have I)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Phylicia Allen

"J'ai Deux Amours (Two Loves Have I)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Phylicia Allen

Phylicia Allen is a singer/actress who had a brief moment of disco stardom with her LP "Josephine Superstar" from 1978 - a tribute to dancer/singer and actress, Josephine Baker. The project was produced by Jacques Morali - who is also very well known for his disco work from Village People and Ritchie Family.

"Two Loves Have I (J'ai Deux Amours)" is the hit from the album and does well in creating a new stage for transforming the Baker 1931 hit into a swirling disco number. I have taken the album version and have staged a ReStructure Mix to give the song a new arrangement and length - also removing the tail end of the duo track, "Josephine Superstar" to enable the song to stand alone.

"Gloria" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Laura Branigan

"Gloria" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Laura Branigan

Laura Branigan is pop-disco recording artist who was heavily influenced by Donna Summer, Gladys Knight and Stevie Nicks. Her big break came with a cover of Italian singer, Umberto Tozzi's "Gloria" in 1982. The song took off instantly in clubs and radio making Laura and instant star.

I have taken the 12" version of "Gloria" and worked a new ReStructure Mix to give the song a new reason to feel the power of the song itself - as Branigan seems to speak of a fast-track woman who should catch herself before everything collides. A great track!

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Miss Laura Branigan who sadly left us in 2004 - her voice and music continue to bring out the drama of dance music and the beauty of this lady.

"Street Life" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Crusaders

"Street Life" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Crusaders

The Crusaders are a jazz-dance group with members Wilton Felder, Nesbert "Stix" Hooper, Joseph Sample and Larry Carlton. Founded in 1956 and began recording albums in 1961.

"Street Life" is their 1979 project and features jazz vocalist Randy Crawford on the title track. A nice jazz-disco number with the vocal topping the shine of the production.

I have taken the album version of "Street Life" and have given it a new ReStructure Mix with a new arrangement and some sprinkles of disco-dub throughout. It is one of my favorite tracks from The Crusaders and with Randy on vocals it has always been in the back of my mind - along with the memory of a crowded dance floor when I programmed the song.
