ReStructure Mix Update (4/24/24):”Tina Cherry” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Georgio

Georgio (Georgio Allentini) is musician/artist who released three projects starting in the late 80’s. His first success was a single titled “Tina Cherry” from 1987 and was formulated in the deep house sound which was a popular mix during this period. The heavy bass sequencers are the power behind this slick track which caught on fast in clubs. It was the smooth variations of the segments of keyboard riffs which made this number a dance floor hit. 

I have taken the 12” vocal, dub and bonus beats of “Tina Cherry” to recreate a new deeper ReStructure Mix for this homage. The bass keyboards are slip in pieces and reused and many of the bonus beats are used to tear down this groove again.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/23/24):”Take Me To The Sun” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Paradise Orchestra

Paradise Orchestra is Corrado Rizza, Domenico Scuteri and Igino Bianchi – an Italo-house session who released their third single titled “Take Me To The Sun” in 1992. This uplifting ditty is a touch of jazzy vocal deliveries and a thumpin’ Euro-house beat. The essence of house music is here in this production and pours every piano groove into the rumbling basslines. It has a wonderful chorus which sounds quite like an anthem from the period and yet the finale experience is more like an inner peace. Great house music always steered towards the basics and here they are in one package. Vocal are provided by Karen Jones.

I have taken the 12” vocal and dub version of “Take Me To The Sun” and lifted the message once again for this ReStructure Mix. There is a new down beat pounding out segments of the new mix and more breakdowns to initiate that epic dance feel.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/21/24):”Hot Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Big Ben Tribe

Big Ben Tribe is an Italian disco group featuring Renato Posani, Riccardo Persi and Stefano Previsti. Their single titled “Hot Love” was released in 1983 and features Giulia Crocini on lead vocals. The track has a bouncy feel with plenty of jungle percussion (as the group title outlines) tinkering throughout the background. It is melodic and builds with the chorus riff echoing out into an anthem-like feel. It is one of the Italian groups from the early 80’s who produced some nice dance material.

I have taken the 12” version of “Hot Love” and reapplied a longer into for this ReStructure Mix for a predominant introduction. The arrangement uses more of the percussion and vocal pieces to create a new sound.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/20/24):”Pipeline” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Bruce Johnston

Bruce Johnston is a vocalist, keyboardist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, composer and producer who joined The Beach Boys in 1964. His disco track “Pipeline” from 1977as produced by Gary Usher and is one of the innovative instrumentals of the time. He uses drums and percussion in heavy layers to create a piece which also includes a vocal which resembles a Beach Boys number. This one has the elements of the disco era which the full on string elements and breakdowns. The drum tracks and breaks are interesting and hold a rhythmic edge that is powerful and memorable.

I have taken the 12” single of “Pipeline” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix to give this number another spotlight. The kickin’ drums are used throughout the new arrangement along with those bongo riffs.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/18/24):”Bitter Moon” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Candyland

Candyland is Colin Payne, David Ayers, Derrick McKenzie, Diid Osman and Kenediid Osman – a 90’s psychedelic rock/synth band. Their 1992 project titled “Suck It And See” contained the single “Bitter Moon” which follows in their deep edge of moody esthetics and in the heartbreak mode here. The song has an eerie feel and somewhat mysterious and tense energy. It follows the early morning formula which takes the extreme left field and shifts it into full gear. Vocals work as the tremble throughout the song in a careless sound. The track was produced by Chris Parry.

I have taken the 4 various versions from the 12” of “Bitter Moon” and used each one for a new ReStructure Mix. I have kept the eeriness intact with a touch more of the tribal drums.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/16/24):”The Sun Always Shines On T.V.” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – a-ha

a-ha is a Norwegian band consisting of Magne Furuholmen, Morten Harket and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy. This band became an instant 80’s staple following their 1984 single “Take On Me”. Their project titled “Hunting High and Low” – produced by Tony Mansfield contained their follow up single from 1985 titled “The Sun Always Shines On T.V.”. This track is an anthem in a synth-pop arrangement and a melody that touches the soul. It faired very well on dance floors and within the 80’s realm is a classic.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “The Sun Always Shines On T.V.” and reworked the magic for this ReStructure Mix. A more predominant down beat is placed below this number to pound out the reality of the title chorus and a new wind down for the exit is added.

Cleo is an Italian disco project from Fabrizio Segalini and features Angela Parisi on vocals. This 1988 release has a nice production with some keyboards riffs which play into the groove nicely. “Say!” is more of a rhythmic piece and fares some nice lines which are performed in an uplifting fashion with the lower bpm energy. This one is a nice production which plays out more against the rattling percussion which supplies a foundation for our diva giving her despair in a romantic situation.

I have taken the 12” vocal and dub version of “Say!” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix in a piece by piece manner. A new heavy drum beat is added to funk up parts of the song which ring out most.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/12/24):”C’mon And Dance” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Liquid Gold

Liquid Gold is a disco band featuring Ellie Hope, Franco Morruzzi, Ray Knott and Wally Rothe – produced by Adrian Baker. The group had a huge disco hit with “My Baby’s Baby” from their self-titled 1979 project. It was the perfect mixture of pop and disco for the period. With the lead vocals of Ellie Hope the band had an unforgettable impact and eventually in the 80’s she pursed a solo career with several dance tracks which did very well. “C’mon And Dance” is another track from their album with more of a laid back and jam-session feel. It uses the group as an ad-lib to the musical interludes which call into the arena the dancers – a formula which was very much what disco music was about.

I have taken the album version of “C’mon And Dance” to recreate this all-at-once party and ReStructure Mix. I have focused more on the high peaks of the song and worked them into a new arrangement using the percussion riffs as a foundation.

Glamorama is a high-energy/techno project from UK producers Graham Willcocks, Martyn Norris and Richard Cottle – also responsible for bringing us Obsession, Royal T, Rapport, Abracadabra and Shaft. Featured on the legendary Almighty Record label and making a mark in the early 90’s shift from high energy to techno and eventually rave. The three ingredients are blended well with “Stop That Man!” from 1993 –and along with high energy diva Earlene Bentley this one has an aura of attitude and sophistication. The rolling bass lines are the main aspect of this number and work well with the rave and exotic keyboard riffs which plant themselves firmly into this great number.

I have taken the 12” vocal of “Stop That Man!” and read ministered a new angle for introducing this ReStructure Mix. A new percussion track and some sampled pieces from the song add to a few new breaks and build ups for our clever take on infidelity.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/9/24):”Woman Ad Lib” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – L.A.X.

L.A.X. is a disco/funk band lead by producer Ralph Benatar and members are Galen Senogles, Geoffrey Leib, Kenny Lee Lewis, Larry Lingle, Mike Lingle and Roy Galloway. Their 1979 self-titled project contains their first dance floor hit “Dancing At The Disco” which was welcome for their funk style. “Woman Ad Lib” is another cut from album which received play and is a more disco driven piece in a more club outline. The play is dedicated to the female vocal provided by Laura Lucerno and Roy Galloway in a phrase feeding play. The track is much like a Euro-disco track through the feel of this one and also contains the groups classic funk edge.

I have taken the album version of “Woman Ad Lib” and revisited it for a new take with this ReStructure Mix. The beat thumping intro with the mellow rhythm guitar plays a brighter spot and a new beat added for traction.
