ReStructure Mix Update (7/30/20) “Y.M.C.A.” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Glamorama

Glamorama is a project on Almighty Records from 1993 produced by Graham Wilcocks and Richard Cottie. This project featured a cover of the Village People classic “Y.M.C.A.” – done in complete camp featuring the vocals of high energy diva Ms. Earlene Bentley. It is a wonderful twist with a whole lot of essence on the disco diva stance and of course the disco era itself. The production is laid out in the 1993 fashion with the Euro-disco flair utilizing heavy bass (house) and plenty of interjected pieces of orchestrations. It is much more uplifting with Ms. Bentley at the helm and the play on words during this arrangement is simply magnificent. This one always reminds me of a great dear music friend (who left us) Mr. Marty Parriott who always referred to this version as the Kate Smith version – as if were here following the “Star Spangled Banner” salute.

I have taken the 12” version of Glamorama’s “Y.M.C.A.” and dressed it up for this ReStructure Mix. There are pieces of the Village People original scattered around this edit and more dub effects to  give the length of the mix more opportunities to get lost in.

REISSUE: “Living In Japan” by Fun Fun – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Living In Japan” by Fun Fun – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Fun Fun is Spagna, Antonella Pepe, and Angela Parisio on vocals. An Italian disco project from Alvaro Ugolini and Dario Rainmondi and a non-stop dance floor hit machine from 1982 – 1987. “Living In Japan” is their single from the album “Have Fun!” – an electronic trip with romance in the land of the rising sun. One of the big hits for me during its release since the sound of Fun Fun is so recognizable and ‘fun’ to move with. This is also one of the sweetest of their vocal recordings and great kickin’ mid-tempo rhythms. I have taken scenes from the 1961 Toho Studios fantasy film, “Mothra” – centering in on the “Shobijin” twins who entertain us in this mild and short tribute to Fun Fun and also segments of the ritual for their god, Mothra. The film was directed by Ishiro Honda Featuring scenes from "Mothra" - RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: Ultra Warp (Final Conflict)' by Laser-Cowboys - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: Ultra Warp (Final Conflict)' by Laser-Cowboys - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Taking the 1984 Italian dance track, "Ultra Warp (Final Conflict)" into a Video Mix with the 1973 MGM science-fiction film, "Westworld" was a thought I had. The concept of a playground where robots fulfill our every need is a great one - until something goes wrong. This film was frightening for it's time and I would not doubt that a remake would be haunting us soon with an advanced digital production. The original was cast with Yul Brenner as "The Gunslinger", Richard Benjamin and James Brolin. The Laser-Cowboys are a fantastic electronic studio band produced by Mach II - this was their first release from 1984 and reminds me of Ennio Morricone's theme from "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" - very haunting. REISSUE: "Japanese Boy" by Aneka - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: "Japanese Boy" by Aneka - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Aneka hit the disco scene in 1981 with her big hit, "Japanese Boy". A Scottish traditional folk singer began a disco career - her real name Mary Sandeman. This track had the mechanics of early high-energy music at a lower BPM - sharp keyboards and a pulsating bass synthesizer. And along with Aneka's unique style and delivery on the theme it was an inevitable hit! I have taken the 1971 adventure film "Godzilla's Revenge" and placed scenes from the film to outline the story, which gives a brief tale of a young Japanese boy's lesson on how to stand up against bullies. It features Godzilla's own son, Minya. The film was directed by IshirĂ´ Honda Featuring scenes from "Godzilla's Revenge" - RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: Underwater" by Harry Thumann - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: Underwater" by Harry Thumann - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera At the peak of the disco era many artists were focusing their energy on the technological aspects of dance music. Some of the more refined projects were a combination of techno-keyboards and sequencers along with strings and manual instrumentation. Harry Thumann's "Underwater" released in 1979 was apart of this sound. My first experience at hearing "Underwater" brought to mind Meco's production of "Star Wars" in 1977, but with a touch more of keyboard and sequencer technology. This video is a combination of images from "Star Wars" and Thumann's classic track. Scenes from "Star Wars" - RENT THE VIDEO! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: “(Theme from) The Lord Of The Rings” by Aragorn Ballroom Orchestra – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “(Theme from) The Lord Of The Rings” by Aragorn Ballroom Orchestra – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Aragorn Ballroom Orchestra is a project from producers Hank Crosby and Phil Jones. This disco-fied version from Leonard Rosenman’s movie score was released during a period of disco music where movie scores were being recreated in a disco arrangement thanks to work by Barry White and Meco. The arrangement here is mastered by Herb Jimmerson who produced his own group Paradise Express along with his wife Vi Ann on vocals. The 12” version provided a drum version of this piece which is titled “Helm’s Deep” and plays out in this video mix version as the overall sound for the Viking dance celebration. The mix on this disco single was done by San Francisco’s Marty Blechman and John Hedges. The visuals are provided by the 1961action film “Erik the Conqueror” starring Giorgio Ardissdon and Cameron Mitchell. This concept was introduced by Jussi Kantonen who this Disco Video Mix is dedicated to. The film was directed by Mario Bava Featuring scenes from “Erik the Conqueror” – RENT THE DVD! ReStructure Mix Update (7/29/20) “What You Won’t Do For Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Denie Corbett

ReStructure Mix Update (7/29/20) “What You Won’t Do For Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Denie Corbett

Denie Corbett is a vocalist from the disco era whose first single from 1979 titled “Be What You Are” was produced by Joe Bataan. Her second 12” single released that same year is “What You Won’t Do For Love” which is one of the last driving disco tracks at the end of the era. This one has an ominous energy and drive and powerful disco-diva performance from Denie. It was always one of those big gay male discotheque anthems for me with its strong and powerful female vocal and the underground rhythm tracks along with soaring strings. This was return to the independent sound of pure disco –perhaps the first time Grace Jones’ “Do Or Die” affected the dance floor!

I have taken the 12” version of “What You Won’t Do For Love” and revisited this energy to create a new ReStructure Mix. There are more breaks and a play with the chorus inside the mix. It is a tribute to the finale days of pure disco.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Nick Bunning – thank you for your friendship and inspiration!

REISSUE: “My Man” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Cruisin’ Gang

REISSUE: “My Man” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Cruisin’ Gang Cruisin’ Gang is an Italo-disco project from Cruisin' Records and are one of the unique sounds of the Italo-disco period of the early 80’s. “My Man” is their single from 1983 from the project titled “Chinatown” and is one of the loveliest dance tracks set to a pumping beat. The synthetic mandolin strings are a romantic interlude and along with the dreamy vocals of Laura Fadinger, Sabrina Morroya and Ombretta Marsigli this piece is a beautiful sensation. A great early evening or after hours number it always seems to create its own ambiance. I have taken the 12” version of “My Man” and reweaved a ReStructure Mix using the pumping beats and bass with some new arrangement and breaks. There is some percussion fills added to fade out with more of a dance legato.

REISSUE: “Everybody Is Dancing” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Ken Laslo

REISSUE: “Everybody Is Dancing” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Ken Laslo Ken Laslo is one of the Italo-disco artists who made the 80’s mysterious and exciting. His first single “Hey Hey Guy” from 1984 was one of the tracks that helped to recreate a flowing energy on dance floors and more points in the Italo-disco music arena. “Everybody Is Dancing” is his 1989 single that was one of my all-time favorites from that year. An uplifting and energetic piece that roars quietly but effectively. Another big dance floor generator for me and a reason to place Ken Laslo once again in the realm of the true Italo-disco sound. I have taken the vocal and instrumental from the 12” of “Everybody Is Dancing” and used the recognizable riffs and hooks to make this ReStructure Mix pull some new tricks to the surface. The uplifting keyboards are extended and played into a new arrangement.

REISSUE: "Lover To Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Joe Yellow

REISSUE: "Lover To Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Joe Yellow
Joe Yellow (Domenico Ricchini) is an Italian disco singer who released a big Italo-disco hit in 1983 titled “Lover To Lover” – produced by Roberto Turatti and Mikki Chieregato. The track laid out a powerful and pulsating dance beat and sweeping keyboards which created a sound completing the early 80s dance experience. The track played out as a formula for high energy music which was being produced out of the UK during the same time. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental from the US release and recreated a new ReStructure Mix keeping the pleading and loving question upfront and only adding some new playful elements to make the return of this powerful piece fun and infectious again. Dedicated to all of the hard-core Italo-disco fans and dancers!

REISSUE: “Take Me To The Top” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Advance

REISSUE: “Take Me To The Top” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Advance Advance is an Italo-disco funk project from Italian producers Alvaro Ugolini and Dario Raimondi – who also gave us Fun Fun and Monkey Business. This piece is one of the New York funk crossover productions closely immolating the edge that Jacques Fred Petrus brought with Mauro Malavasi with the band Change. The extraordinary and melodic feel of the song is captured by vocalist Tracy Ackerman of studio high energy groups Astaire, Mirage and Massivo. The keyboards are a longing for the crisp and emotional effect where dance becomes more of a ritual. “Take Me To The Top” is one of the hidden gems of Italo-disco in a shift from the traditional 80’s high energy into an arena of emotions and funk. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Take Me To The Top” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix from the favorite pieces of this great recording. I have rearranged the wonderful vocal into a new layout where the love song becomes the anthem.

REISSUE: “Summing Up” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Electric Mind

REISSUE: “Summing Up” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Electric Mind Luciana Cirrillo and Michele Violante are the Italian group Electric Mind. Along with producer Andrea Candelora a venture to bring a New York funk edge to Italo-disco began its ringing throughout clubs. Inspired by bands like Change and Chic there is an electronic take on the funky guitars and electro vibe here. “Summing Up” from 1982 is their first release and a big long time floor packer in my club. This one has the smooth piano riffs that many tracks were incorporating and Electric Mind placed them to complete a jazz air. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental to recreate a ReStructure Mix with more play and extended portions of the great streamline production. A catchy riff in the chorus and plenty of beat and groove to move onto a new era of dance without the need for change.

REISSUE: “Ride Like The Wind” by Taka Boom – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Ride Like The Wind” by Taka Boom – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Taka Boom (Yvonne Stevens) is one of the recognizable voices in soul/funk/disco music immediately with her power and ability to seal lyrics as her sister Chaka Khan. Taka is a star in the disco museum thanks to her vocal on classics like “Mr. D.J. You Know How To Make Me Dance” by The Glass Family, “You + Me” by The Undisputed Truth, and her own hits, “Night Dancing” and “Red Hot”. Her 1983 album “Boomerang” is one of the early 80s projects moving into the electronic dance floor sound – successfully produced by Bob Esty. “To Hell With Him:” was the first single from the album which made me, as a club jock at the time jump with excitement to hear Taka again working that disco rhythm and dancers all over again. “Ride Like The Wind” takes Christopher Cross’ 1979 pop-rock anthem into a new arrangement that gives off a haunting feel and soulful appeasement with Taka’s vocal. I have taken visuals from the 1994 crime thriller, “The Getaway” – a remake of the 1972 film – this time around starring Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger. The two are fugitives in love and turning every corner to run, duck and cover and share a romantic kiss. It is more of a visual sweetener for the disco track to give it a play at danger and romance. The film was directed by Ronald Donaldson Featuring scenes from “The Getaway” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: Pretty Baby" by Sister Sledge - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: Pretty Baby" by Sister Sledge - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Sister Sledge are four sisters who delivered two of the iconic disco songs of 1979 -- "We Are Family" and "He's The Greatest Dancer". It was also an accomplishment for producers/musicians Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers who also formed the disco group Chic a year earlier. The album "We Are Family" created a new makeover for the girls since they began recording in 1975. The follow-up project in 1980 was another Edwards and Rodgers gem. "Pretty Baby" is a single from the album which features the funky bass and lead guitars formulating the groove for the ladies to tell their story. I have taken the 1978 drama, "Pretty Baby" starring Brooke Shields, Susan Sarandon and Keith Carradine -- in the Louis Malle historical fiction story of a 12 year-old prostitute in the red-light district at the turn of the century. The titles are shared here and yet the mood of the disco piece fits the stony film images. The film was directed by Louis Malle Featuring scenes from "Pretty Baby" -- RENT THE DVD! REISSUE: “Airport Of Love” by Love International – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Airport Of Love” by Love
International – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Love International is Philippe Chany and Philippe Krootchey – a synth-pop experimental dance group from 1981. Their single "Dance On The Groove (And Do The Funk)” was a surprise piece that brought the Italo-disco and funk scene to life in a new way. The single was accompanied by the flip-side track “Airport Of Love” which is another synth-pop track which was a nice piece of early morning sleaze for those jocks and listeners who were wise enough to give it a play. It was one of the elements of the early 80s which played out well during an experimental period. I have created a short “playful” Disco Video Mix using scenes from the 1970 drama “Airport” starring Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, Jacqueline Bisset and Jean Seberg. The production was the start of the 70s disaster film lineup and has the original elements which consisted of an all-star cast of big names and the focus of danger in many packages. This Disco Video Mix uses most of the love and romance for this disco track and plays out evenly like a trailer for the film. The film was directed by George Seaton Featuring scenes from “Airport” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: “Once Upon A Time" by Donna Summer - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Once Upon A Time" by Donna Summer - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
From the 1978 Donna Summer double LP "Once Upon A Time" comes this monumental disco track. It marks not only a period where Donna is recognized as an artist as well as a vocalist. The production by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte assisted by the arrangements by Bob Esty, make this project one that is well lasting in the disco realm. I have taken the 1950 Walt Disney classic, "Cinderella", which "Once Upon A Time" is a disco opera based on the outline and created a small tale using the outline of Donna's magical dance number. Featuring scenes from Walt Disney's "Cinderella" - RENT THE DVD! Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE:“Boogie Talk” by Madleen Kane – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE:“Boogie Talk” by Madleen Kane – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Madleen Kane is the Swedish model who became one of the most adored disco singers since her 1978 album “Rough Diamond”. She became a sound and brand which completed the mirror balls and dancing lovers. Her third album “Sounds Of Love” was released in 1980 during the shift from disco to funk on many DJ playlists; however this production maintained the sexy feel and disco arrangements. “Boogie Talk” is one of the second releases which were a pick for many dancers and disc jockeys. I have taken the 1978 film “The Stud” which outlines the life of wealthy club owner Joan Collins who plays with many of the hot male employees. Much drama ensues over her latest “men-toys” in the film, but this Disco Video Mix takes the club scenes and images of Ms. Collins working her magic. It plays out where she waves her wand allowing the crowd to make her nights wonderful as they “body talk” and “boogie talk”. The film was directed by Quentin Masters Featuring scenes from “The Stud” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: “Sessomatto” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sesso Matto

REISSUE: “Sessomatto” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sesso Matto Sesso Matto is Armando Trovaioli – an Italian film composer whose 1976 track titled “Sessomatto” is one of the classic disco pieces for West End Records. The song was a part of the soundtrack for “How Funny Sex Can Be”. The jazzy and sexy song also gives credit to early disco pioneers Barry Lederer and David Mancuso (The Loft). As one of the early releases as a disco singles and the European flavor and att8itude of chic disco music. It was this unation of funky elements which made disco music as sexy as it was. “Sessomatto” is a formula which brings together a funky groove and a few riffs that echo over and over. As this one plays out you can feel the early 70’s funk influencing a new genre of dance music that would become disco. I have taken the 12” version of “Sassomatto” and reworked the sensual elements into a new ReStructure Mix. There is more foreplay with drums and percussion along with a few classic samples of what really made disco feel sexy.

REISSUE: “Cocomotion" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - El Coco

REISSUE: “Cocomotion" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - El Coco At the age of 16 and hearing this song for the first time in a discotheque I believed I was listening to one of the most incredible songs ever! The breaks keyboards I always believed were being blended in the disc jockey and they were from a "Close Encounters" soundtrack! That bass - all I could say is that I was lucky that it was being hear at a club called Lombard's here is San Diego - the sound system was fierce! W. Michael Lewis and his production partner Laurin Rinder were the writers and musicians on most of their great early disco music. It was the way it was suppose to sound - raw and ready. Untouched by the big record labels - like a live jam sessions directly to the dance floor. Even after this many years is "Cocomotion" still thumping under it's own unique sound. My ReStructure is a varied break adjustment - try to guess where it starts and ends.

REISSUE: "Deshabille Moi (Undress Me)” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Louis Lesther

REISSUE: "Deshabille Moi (Undress Me)” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Louis Lesther Louis Lesther is a disco artist from 1979 produced by Dutch drummer/producer Shell Schellekens (Brainbox, Rainbow Train). The tantalizing single “Deshabille Moi” (meaning “Undress Me”) is one of the rare tracks that play out like a fabulous drag show perhaps in “The Bird Cage”. It is a fierce production that outlines the play on words and also a synthesizer with old-school power. The 12” was released in Germany on the Hansa International label and then picked up by Shadybrook Records in the US and was always one of those pieces that if caught on the dance floor at the right time you may have been lost in a fantasy of ‘Rocky Horror’-like adventure. One of my favorites from the end of the disco era and always believed this were the caliber of Grace Jones’ aura. I have taken the US 12”vocal and instrumental and recreated a whole new show for the curious taking the synthesizer exit into the front layer. The vocal remains the lure and feel of the track as the original and is played with in a few new breaks. This is like the dub and stage version shot into a short glass after being shaken fiercely for minutes.

REISSUE: "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Chic

REISSUE: "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Chic It was 1977 and "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" was released - disco seemed to take off from this period. Dance floors came alive in a new way when this monster hit was brought into clubs. There was a new form and structure to the sound of disco music. Again, Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards along with Kenny Lehman (Lemon) and producers, Marc Kreiner and Tom Cossie laid out this experimental LP which began the sound of CHIC. My ReStructure is a homage to these talented men and a new structure!

REISSUE: “You’re All I Have” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – POUSSEZ!

REISSUE: “You’re All I Have” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – POUSSEZ! POUSSEZ! Is a disco project from musician/producer Alphonse Mouzon from 1979. During the peak of disco music it was the formula which completed the journey of dance music from the early 70’s through this time where the synthesizers and keyboards began to work in coordination with string and horn ensembles. POUSSEZ! Is a perfect example of this combination. Christine Wiltshire who is known for her vocal work with Musique, Phreek, Revanche and Aural Exciters creates a beautifully sensual aura which this project from cover to finale rhythm works at. “You’re All I Have” is one of the four tracks from the project which pound out the beat with more than disco vibrancy. This is the sound that made clubs realize that the disco sound was in perfect harmony with dancers. A favorite project of mine and many who know and understand what disco music is all about. I have taken the album version of “You're All I Have” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix with Christine’s lovely serenade in clear focus. The ensemble riffs are reworked and the strings are given more of a stage. A dedication to Mr. Alphonse Mouzon and also the wonderful, Christine Wiltshire.

ReStructure Mix Update (7/26/20) “It’s A Love Thing” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Whispers

The Whispers are a soul group that was formed in 1964 and recorded up to 2000. Their harmonies and soulful vocal arrangements are the real advantage of the ensemble and although time has moved and given their music a new sound the essence are The Whispers themselves. “Imagination” is their album from 1980 produced by Dick Griffey and The Whispers. “It’s A Love Thing” is the funk touch of tight early 80’s dance grooves. It is the old school that stands out among the class as most of the music from Solar Records has. It is a love song that brings out the men in a wonderful serenade that reaches peak after peak and even throughout the verses gives them an opportunity to prove why their lasting is evident.

I have taken the 12” version of “It’s A Love Thing” and reworked an edit for this ReStructure Mix which moves the original vocal into a dub mix. Pieces of the electronic groove are dissected and rearranged to bring new life into this old school classic.

REISSUE: “I Can Dream About You” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Dan Hartman Dan Hartman brought a new magic to disco music in 1978 with his big hit “Instant Replay” and following many memorable dance classics including “Relight My Fire” with Loleatta Holloway. His venture from the 70’s to the 80’s was successful with his 1984 album “I Can Dream About You” with the title track being featured in the film “Streets Of Fire”. This love groove is one of the best 80’s dance numbers with the right amount of heart and soul to haunt your feet. It was a huge track for me as I reverted to playing it during peak hours with many dancers lost in its hypnotic groove. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “I Can Dream About You” and moved the song into a ReStructure Mix mood. More of the dream feels with some extensive looping to emphasize the yearning. It is a fade out which I can only want more of this one.

REISSUE: "Light Up My Heart” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Angie St. Phillip

REISSUE: "Light Up My Heart” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Angie St. Phillip Angie St. Phillip is an Italo-disco artist who worked with Theo Spagna on backup vocals for several projects including Fun Fun and Hold Cold. Her 2 singles “Light Up My Heart” and “Physical” were produced by Theo and Ivanna Spagna and is in the tradition of Ivanna’s own Fun Fun sound. This uplifting and embracing edge brought the high energy sound to the forefront in the mid-80s. “Light Up My Life” was released in 1985 and gave the dance floor another return to “Colour My Love” and “Happy Station”. Angie has a soft and gentle vocal and brings each chorus to a sweet serenade. I have taken the 12” vocal and dub to recreate a ReStructure Mix paying tribute to Italo-disco and this melodic style of disco which always makes a heart warm. There is a new arrangement which more breakdowns and some play edits with the synthesizer tracks. Allot of great 80s memories are bound to be awaken.

REISSUE: “Nothing Compares 2 U” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Chyp-Notic

REISSUE: “Nothing Compares 2 U” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Chyp-Notic Chyp-Notic is Euro-dance group from Germany whose 1990 cover of Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” brought a new energy and groove to the moody heartbreak song. The band is Vlad Mint, Jan Erik and Walter Bee. The 90’s swing beat takes the energy into a melodic phase which was appropriate for the track and time period. The song did very well in clubs and received some radio play as well as set the group up for a readying follow up for dancers. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of Chyp-Notic’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” and reworked the drums and airy keyboards into this new ReStructure Mix. It pulls more of the beats with a few edits and makes way to a touch of the original.

REISSUE: “For Your Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Klaudia Klaudia is an Italo-disco project from masters of Italo-disco Peter Micioni and Paul Micioni. The track titled “For Your Love” is a haunting love song that rings mysteriously and emotionally with a strong yearning. The production team gives this one a similar flavor as their work with Gary Low (“I Want You”) with some great riffs. The vocal is written in several places that may be Dora Carofiglio – where many of these Italo-disco projects were studio projects with artist creation aimed at the songs mood itself. In any wonder, this one is a beauty. One of my favorite Italo-disco numbers and performances. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental to recreate a lengthier and airy-like environment for this ReStructure Mix. The difference in the instrumental EQ is worked to preserve the weight of the moody feeling brought on by the vocals and keyboards which tend to be a bit more emotional on both ends. It is slim re-edit with some of the loops and effects to bring on a new trip.

REISSUE: "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Modern Talking

REISSUE: "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Modern Talking Modern Talking is Dieter Bohlen and Thomas Anders - their trademark sound is close to the Italo-disco feel of the early 80s - with a bit more. The rolling bass lines and symphonic-like keyboards are the addition to the style. Their success thanks to the simple and warming vocals that accentuate each production are dreamy and bring a reflective state. It is a match made on dance floors and pop-music from Berlin. "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" is their first single which was #1 for 6 weeks on German pop-charts - and also caused some movement on dance floors here in the US - as well as a faithful following. I have ReStructured the domestic 12" single mix and have given it a new lay-in and lay-out. Mixing much of the basics with some new arrangements and phrasing. Dedicated to Rick and Dean from Australia, Loulou from The Netherlands and Joey Luciano from New York

ReStructure Mix Update (7/25/20) “Welcome Aboard” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mother F

ReStructure Mix Update (7/25/20) “Welcome Aboard” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mother F

Mother F is Denis LePage from Lime and many dance projects including Diva, Kat Mandu, Voggue, Carol Jiani, Chris Mills and Blush. His work as an arranger and producer are the pinnacle pieces of the dance movement throughout the late 70’s through the late 90’s. Mother F is his project which initially compiled instrumental versions of his big dance floor hits of the early 80’s. “Welcome Aboard” is a single from this project and is a wonderful cover of The Love Unlimited Orchestra and Webster Lewis’ 1981 masterpiece. The electronic take and execution are wonderfully created here and give the track more of an underground feel. It is one of the great directions which inform us of where LePage’s inspirations are generated – and this is a wonderful place.

I have taken the 12” version of “Welcome Aboard” from Mother F and recreated a new ReStructure Mix for prosperity of the movement itself and Mr. Lepage. The expression here is to spotlight the rhythmic pieces of the song and give it more of a fantasy club feel.
