ReStructure Mix Update (9/30/19) “Uptown Festival” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Shalamar

Shalamar is one of disco music’s majestic pinnacles of sound. From their first album titled “Uptown Festival” produced by Simon Soussan (Arpeggio, French Kiss, Romance, Pattie Brooks) to their disco/funk recordings of the 80s and of course the solo careers of Jody Watley and Howard Hewitt. This pure disco medley with the title “Uptown Festival” features a Motown-classic packed disco gem. It features the lead vocals of Gary Mumford and lots of that Soussan-treatment meaning lots of disco-power. It is one of the great disco classics and should always be addressed so.

I have taken the album version of “Uptown Festival” and have given it a few new twists and turns in this ReStructure Mix. Only a few of the Motown hits are a part of this new mix but the resonance of the great toppers are evident and still create a stir.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/29/19) “Red Light Lover” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Gwen Jonae

ReStructure Mix Update (9/29/19) “Red Light Lover” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Gwen Jonae

Gwen Jonae is a high energy artist produced by Paul Sabu (Debbie Jacobs, Sabu, Sister Power, Ann Margret) during the early 80’s. Her big club hit titled “Destiny” from 1983 is also one of her well-known tracks as well as her work with Sister Power and the big disco hit “Gimme Back My Love Affair” from 1979. Her powerful vocals were the incantation of a pure disco diva of her time. Many club performances proved that live and along with Paul Sabu’s rockin’ disco production her work was a much welcomed talent to dance floors.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Red Light Lover” and recreated a new ReStructure Mix with a new intro for the blaring high- energy track. It is a more powerful take on the “Lady Marmalade” fix and works like a slick dance piece that keeps pumping and pumping.

REISSUE: "Take Me Home" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cher

Bob Esty created a playground for Cher's sensual vocals in this disco classic. It was played many times during the peak of disco and perhaps known for a return for one of the industry's most celebrated artists. This ReStructure creates a more eventful arena for Cher to play in.

REISSUE: “That Old Black Magic” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jeanne Shy

REISSUE: “That Old Black Magic” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jeanne Shy

Jeanne Shy and Bob Esty together are sheer disco ecstasy! The 1979 release of “Night Dancer” and a cover of the lounge classic “That Old Black Magic” are the excitement which disco reached during a year of many productions and the complete sound which the dance floors and clubs influenced. Jeanne Shy brings a whole new feel to the Bob Esty production that is full of emotion and jazz/soul feel which rings like magic dust sprinkled over a lush and beautiful disco orchestration. This one was always on my turntable and continues to haunt my memory of nights where the mood was captivating and oh so exciting.

I have taken the 12” version of “That Old Black Magic” and reworked Bob Esty’s flawless production in that ReStructure Mix angle. It gives more play for a long intro to Jeanne’s statement and more breaks to give your heart and feet a break.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Ms. Jeanne Shy and Mr. Bob Esty

REISSUE: "Once Upon A Time" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer

Donna Summer's "Once Upon A Time" disco operetta is one of the monumental times for dance floors. The power of Giorgio Moroder, Pete Bellotte and the magic of Donna Summer are truly an event here. The album is referred by many discophiles as unsurpassed in creativity and execution.

I have taken the title track into a ReStructure Mix fantasy and enhanced the horns and strings with a few new beats and bass additions. The flow of the track is still pounding and dramatic - just extended and given a longer exit.

Dedicated to Donna Summer fans everywhere! Once upon a dream...it can happen again!

REISSUE: “Love Fire” by Syreeta – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Love Fire” by Syreeta – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Syreeta is a soul vocalist known throughout the 70s for wonderful ballads and also as former wife to Stevie Wonder. Her voice has always brought to music a lovely instrumental of classical soul. “Love Fire” is a track written by Bob Esty and Michelle Aller – and from her 1980 album “Syreeta”. This beautiful piece of dance music is produced, arranged and conducted by Bob Esty. It has always been one of my favorite songs and has an incredible lasting melody.

I have created a Disco Video Mix along with “Love Fire” and an appropriate 1978 romantic drama, “Ice Castles” starring Lynn-Holly Johnson and Robby Benson – the story of a figure skater whose rise and fall to stardom is saved by the love of her boyfriend after an accident leaves her blind. The finale leaves us feeling hope and love as she is taken again to her dreams with both her talent and love.

This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to the master of disco production and his amazing talent – Mr. Bob Esty

REISSUE: "Let Them Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - D.C. La Rue

D.C. La Rue released his third album, "Confessions" in 1978 - along with magnificent disco producer, Bob Esty they managed to create a stamp in disco history outlining the talent of create true disco music. The album features the dance single, "Let Them Dance" which during it's release became one of the dance anthems for hardcore dance palaces.

I have taken the fantastic 12" version on Casablanca Records recreated a new ReStructure Mix - which faces the original mix mildly and only as an alternative "trip" for D.C.'s classic. The strings, horns, synthesizers and hand claps are the dose of disco energy and dance perfection that are the leader on 1978 dance music.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated with much respect to D.C. La Rue and Bob Esty who have made my life a fantasy of music and aural ecstasy - and it doesn't come in a pill! Thank you, boys!

REISSUE: "Shut Out/Heaven Is A Disco" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paul Jabara

REISSUE: "Shut Out/Heaven Is A Disco" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paul Jabara

Paul Jabara is one of disco music's early risers - and created a world of upbeat and disco-beat driven music which would change the 70s. His first album titled, "Shut Out" from 1977 is a project which featured the title track written by Mr. Bob Esty and produced by Arthur G. Wright and Marc Paul Simon.

The medley features 4 tracks - where I have extracted the first two parts: "Shut Out" and "Heaven In A Disco" - combining them in a new ReStructured medley. This piece from the album features guest vocals from the upcoming-Disco Queen, Donna Summer - with her incredible range and effect.

I have re-arranged the tracks to create a new blended mix with the ReStructure touch. This new version is dedicated to a man and his talent who changed my world - Mr. Bob Esty! Thank you, Bob And also, Mr. Paul Jabara.

John Ferrara created a disco-fied outline for the classic novel, "Wuthering Heights" in 1979. The LP consisted of a full sided production of the novel by Emily Bronte as well as 3 additional dance cuts segued on side B - "Love Attack" being the finale. This power house tune with plenty of synthesizers and guitars twangs made quite an impact on dance floors from '79 through the mid-80's. My ReStructure adds an extended feel with the main guitar and flute tracks. One very interesting fact on the LP is that jazz artist, Angie Bofill appears as a back-up vocalist.

REISSUE: "What A Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Giorgio

Giorgio Moroder is the Father Of Electronic Disco Music.

Many of his projects are referred to as masterpieces of electronic wizardry and genius. His 1979 project on Casablanca Records titled “E=Mc2” is one of his finest recordings. From the side A medley comes, “What A Night” – a frenetic paced dance music that flows beautifully.

I have taken Moroder’s masterpiece and extended the track as well as give it more breaks and a lengthier movement. This ReStructure is dedicated to all Moroder fans everywhere – the magic continues to flow.

REISSUE: "Menergy" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Patrick Cowley

REISSUE: "Menergy" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Patrick Cowley

It was 1981 when Patrick Cowley released his ominous keyboards in "Menergy" - produced by Cowley and Marty Blecman.

Cowley had created a fusion of innovative disco productions at the end of the late 70's along with Sylvester ("Dance (Disco Heat)" and "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)") it was just a matter of time until he unleashed his magic and power on his solo projects.

During the early 80's when San Francisco was the spot for the re-birth of disco and dance music thanks to labels like Megatone and Moby Dick Records. This was Cowley's focus: to bring back the energy of disco music to the dance floor. With "Menergy" he hit the spot - it is a tour de force of electronic magic.

Dedicated to Dominique from France and his undying love for the disco sound and respect for it.

REISSUE: “Living On Video” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Trans-X

Trans-X is a disco/techno band which began as a single “Living On Video” from 1983. The recordings original vocalist is Laurie Gill and Pascal Languirand – who paint a message of alternative dance electronic music. The track was a huge dance floor hit and shared some success on alternative dance radio stations – it stands an icon for 80s disco and synth-pop dance music. A favorite of mine with lots of the gadgetry which makes the dance floor feel like a factory of wires and funk.

I have taken the original 12” version to recreate new ReStructure Mix looping parts to give a new feel and message to this awesome piece. A touch of 60s sci-fi is added from the classic show, “Lost In Space” to give a new computer generated edge. It is a fantastic adventure so take it again!

REISSUE: “Dancing In A Disco" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ganymed

Ganymed is an Austrian space-disco group consisting of Rudolf Mille, Gerhard Messinger, Ernst Nekola, Daniele Prencipe, Yvonne Dory and Gerry Edmond

"Dancing In A Disco" is from their 1979 album "Future World" - it is the electronic 70s blending to a disco format. A simple yet contagious song with lots of galactic effects.

I have taken the 12" single version and ReStructured this cool-cosmic number - extending and adding few new elements. It was great fun to play back in the day and a nice little planetary homage to the band.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/27/19) “Club Tropicana” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – WHAM!

WHAM! are George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley who made a big splash in the early 80’s with their blend of pop-dance tracks and stage performances. “Club Tropicana” comes from their 1983 project “Fantastic” – produced by George Michael and Steve Brown. This Calypso-feel dance number blares out like a Carnival celebration with its percussion driven rhythms and hot vocal stimulation. It is one of their memorable numbers and keeps the magic of WHAM! alive today.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Club Tropicana” and re-assembled a ReStructure Mix which not only extends parts of the dreamy melodies but also adds a couple of new breaks to give the party a lasting feel.

REISSUE: "Give Me Tonight" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Shannon

Shannon (Brenda Shannon Greene) set the 80s on fire with "Let The Music Play" a brand of New York electro-funk which is know as "The Shannon Sound". This beat-and-kick formula utilizes the scratch mix in more ways than one.

"Give Me Tonight" is the second single from Shannon's debut album and as big - if not bigger - than "Let The Music Play". The sound of the 80s is all hear and may bring back more than you can handle.

I have taken the 12" vocal and dub version to give this song a ReStructure Mix and re-funk the mix with some new elements and emphasizing the work of the original.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Mr. Bob Tiedemann - who I thank for his support and for this request! Go get it, Bob - tonight!

REISSUE: "My Hearts Divided” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Shannon

REISSUE:  "My Hearts Divided” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Shannon

Shannon (Brenda Shannon Greene) is a name that was embedded into disco history in 1983 when her hit, “Let The Music Play” introduced a new sound for dance floors. It was a funk drizzled with pulsating electro-vibes along with the sweet sound of Shannon. Producers Mark Liggett and Chris Barbosa were capturing the new street sound with a coat of electronic magic. “My Hearts Divided” is from the album “Let The Music Play” and echoes the infectious sound that is known as “The Shannon Sound”. This tug a war love song is a powerful moment in a relationship where the decision to stay or leave is given a funky alternative. One of the great follow up tracks by Shannon and a definite classic.

I have taken the original 12” version and created a ReStructure Mix using parts and pieces of genius from Barbosa and Liggett to outline an extended version with more emphasize on words and sounds. It is truly a wonderland for anyone who may desire this 80s street sound or those who may wonder what was going on at the time.

REISSUE: "This Is Hot" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pamala Stanley

REISSUE: "This Is Hot" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pamala Stanley

In 1979 Pamala Stanley was on top of the disco ball with "This Is Hot" - not only did the song display a polished arrangement, a fantastic Disco Mix by Rick Gianatos, and outstanding production by Joachim Heider but it also contained Pamala's wonderful vocals.

The LP "This Is Hot" was a playground for Pamala and her induction into the discotheques all over the world. Her success during the 80's with her own releases of hits like "I Don't Want To Talk About It" and "Coming Out Of Hiding" are tracks that most can identify with.

I have taken "This Is Hot" extended pieces of the track to create a ReStructure Mix for a return of this magical dance number.

REISSUE: "I Don't Want To Talk About It" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pamala Stanley

REISSUE: "I Don't Want To Talk About It" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pamala Stanley

Pamala Stanley is a singer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who hit the disco scene in 1979 with her huge hit, "This Is Hot". It was not long after that her career exploded into a ball of disco fire when her single (released and distributed on her own label) "I Don't Wanna Talk About It" marked her return.

Pamala always had the talent and voice to carry her music to both stage, recordings and diverse audiences. It was 1983 with the success of "I Don't Want To Talk..." which made dance floors anticipate her next move.

I have taken the original 12" version of "I Don't Want To Talk About It" - both vocal and instrumental and had a bit of fun with both lyrics, mood and instrumental. It is a whole new arrangement intended to make the song as fun as it was when released.

This ReStructure Mix was requested by Nick and Lindsay - and is dedicated to their love for the divas and dance music. Thank you again, boys!

REISSUE: “If My Friends Could See Me” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Linda Clifford

REISSUE:  “If My Friends Could See Me” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Linda Clifford

Linda Clifford is one diva who was on top of the world in 1978. Her big disco hit, “If My Friends Could See Me Now” is one of the songs that made nightlife in the late 70s worth living for. This cover of the Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields song from the Broadway musical, “Sweet Charity” was given a second life with this flawless disco cover and production. Linda set a precedence for disco music with this recording with her sophisticated soulful interpretation which reflects the late 70s female persona. Above and beyond the pop music sound this disco performance still represents a stylish and slick edge. Produced by Gil Askey and features The Jones Girls on backup.

I have taken the album version of “If My Friends Can See Me Now” and restaged a 3 act ReStructure Mix taking the energy from rhythm guitar to the full on orchestrated sections with those sweet disco strings. Along with Linda’s fabulous vocal this re-edit makes was for a new arrangement and fade out to the monstrous sound of this great disco number.

REISSUE: "Don't Come Crying To Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Linda Clifford

Linda Clifford is one of the disco stars that you can’t help but have grown excited waiting for the next release. After dance hits like “If My Friends Could See Me Now”, “Red Light”, “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Runaway Love” you had to have been warmed up by then. “I’ll Keep On Loving You” is Linda’s seventh album from 1982 and hits the target again with the single “Don’t Come Crying To Me” produced by Michael Gore.

I have taken the fantastic 12” single of “Don’t Come Crying To Me” – mixed by Rusty Gardner and engineered by Paul Sabu and had a little ReStructure Mix fun. Adding a bit of drum mayhem to the finger-poppin’ groove this “no-other-than”-Linda track. It has the woman laying it out – now it is your turn to move or get out!

Dedicated to the lady herself, Ms. Linda Clifford – who helped me believe not only in disco music – but also that disco divas are graceful, lovely and forever lasting!

ReStructure Mix Update (9/26/19) “Together We Are Beautiful” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Fern Kinney

Fern Kinney is a disco artist with a big disco cover of King Floyd’s “Groove Me” from 1979 – produced by Carson Whitsett, Tommy Couch and Wolf Stephenson. The single on Henry Stone’s label T.K. Records is a classic. From the same project titled “Groove Me” is a second single titled “Together We Are Beautiful” which is an elegant sounding love song with a lilting melody and haunting vocal from Fern Kinney. This one is an early evening and after-hours must with the swirling disco strings and lovely production. A favorite of mine and one which stands alone when it comes to beautiful disco music.

I have taken the album version and used snippets of the single-like version of “Together We Are Beautiful” to create a looping and more dub-like ReStructure Mix. The beauty is still intact within the lovely strings and that sensual vocal.

REISSUE: "I'm Alive (Let's Move On)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - American Fade

Early 80's was a transition of disco to high energy opening a whole new arena for producers and artists. America Fade is a studio band produced by Willi Morrison and Ian Guenther - THP Productions ("Too Hot For Love") and Southern Exposure. Their knowledge of disco arrangements and electronics gave them the upper hand on dance floor know how.

"I'm Alive (Let's Move On)" is a tale of a girl who falls in love and finally realizes what she has been missing - an uplifting track with allot of effects and drums pounding throughout the dance mix. I have taken pieces of the original mix and re-edited a new outline and added a new drum intro. It is a bit extreme but intends to give the track a "tweaked" new feel.

REISSUE: "I Believe In Dreams" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Jackie Rawe

REISSUE: "I Believe In Dreams" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Jackie Rawe

Jackie Rawe's "I Believe In Dreams" is the high energy answer to "The Morning After" - disco style. A beautiful anthem that peaks over and over with every chorus. Released in 1985 on Fanfare Records out of the UK and produced by Marvin Howell-Kashi and Tony Atkins.

This song rings out the excitement of love and the energy of the dance floor. It was one track during its release that had me excited and running to the dance floor each time it played in a club - and on the other end was my favorite to play with two vinyl pieces: both peak and after-hours.

My ReStructure Mix takes a whole new intro and a different spin on the arrangement with a few drop outs and new breaks. High energy with a new twist.

Dedicated with respect to Mr. Marvin Howell and thanks for his friendship and dedication to the dance arena.

REISSUE: “Sweet Conversation" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Charity

Charity is a project from Fonny De Wulf (Rofo) featuring a lovely vocal by Karie Hillery. This high energy track from 1985 is a standard for the time period of heavy percussion and simple, yet intricate keyboards.

A very "sweet" love song which featured a version in Spanish on the B-side (sung by Carlos Perez) - I have ReStructured the track using the B-side as a dreamy residue to the original. This remix features allot of new pieces added and placed among the song for a fresh feeling.

REISSUE: “I Want You” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Rofo

REISSUE:  “I Want You” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix –  Rofo

Rofo is an electronic dance project from producer Fonny De Wulf whose work in the early 80s brought on a whole new message and sound to dance music. In 1982 their work began utilizing their talents on electronic savvy with singles for clubs. “I Want You” is a single from 1984 which blends a dream-like essence for this love stomper. The team of Ronny Verrept and Fonny De Wulf are played out with the power of what Rofo is all encompasses. One of the big tracks for me to bring high energy to dance floors and environments in the 80s in a manner I admired.

I have taken the 12” of “I Want You” and using both the vocal and instrumental reform a ReStructure Mix in this formula. It retains the outline of the keyboards play on the dreamlike state and adds a few pieces of drum patterns to pound out more of its energy.

REISSUE: "I Cry For You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Shy Rose

REISSUE: "I Cry For You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Shy Rose

Shy Rose is an Italo-disco artist produced by Antonio d'Addezio in the mid-80s - her first single "I Cry For You" - which is basically a new disco track utilizing The Twins' "Face To Face (Heart To Heart)" riff and flowing melody as the basis for new lyrics and meaning.

I have taken the original 12" version and have given it a new high energy - ReStructure Mix update using the fabulous percussion fills and synthesizer pieces. It is fast moving love song and may give many an opportunity to discover the high energy era of the 80s, if missed.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/25/19) “A Few Good Men” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tara Jans

Tara Jans is a high-energy artist whose single “A Few Good Men” from 1985 fits the mold of the-“So Many Men, So Little Time” genre of the 80’s. Produced by Daniel Japlin, Fred Munao and Gary Posner and released on Select Records during the peak of high energy music. This one shoots off a barrage of synthetic horns with a kicking groove that plays out well with Tara’s defined vocal. A nice underground hit for me and one that made the floor see hands raised after a few choruses.

I have taken the 12” of “A Few Good Men” and used all three version to recreate and recruit a new ReStructure Mix with a few new surprises and extended use of that kickin’ guitar track.

France Joli is the one of the biggest gifts to disco lovers. She is the disco candy any dancer or beat-lover could ever ask for. Her 1979 album "France Joli" is one of the classic New York disco sounds to this day. Combined talents of Canada on this project include, Peter Dowse, Denis LePage, Miguel Fuentes, The Sweethearts of Sigma, and Mr. Tony Green.

"Playboy" is from the "fourgy" of dance-delights on this project and is the sound of disco music in it's changing of club sounds and execution. I have taken the album version and have given the track a ReStructure Mix - looping, chopping and sprinkling some new beats, effects and vocal effects to bring this diva back to front of the stage where she belongs!

REISSUE: “Girl In The 80s” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – France Joli

REISSUE:  “Girl In The 80s” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – France Joli

France Joli released her fourth album in 1983 “Attitude” – produced by Pete Bellotte and Giorgio Moroder. It was a new transition from the disco of the late 70s and the funk feel of her “Now!” of the previous year. A new pop age of dance music was taking Moroder’s keyboards and sequencers into a pulsating aerobics sound. “Girl In The 80’s” is the first single which follows the formula of many of the 80’s anthem like dance songs. France plays well in the song with her yearning vocals and ability to make her tracks sweet and alluring. The production plays out Moroder’s 80s sound and gives a simple display of the time period.

I have taken the 12” remixed by Brian Reeves and reworked a lengthier version of “Girl In The 80’s” and segued more of the intro effects throughout the ReStructure Mix. A simple reworking of the energy and theme. France completes more of her verses here in a new way.

REISSUE:  “Your Good Lovin’” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – France Joli

France Joli is the one disco music’s most exciting voices. Her big dance hit “Come To Me” from 1979 gave the closing of the disco era a crescendo. Her 1980 album “Now!” and her third was a turn for France to the sound which her label, Prelude Records was creating for the 80s – New York Funk. The production by Ray Reid and William Anderson (Crown Heights Affair) gave us an opportunity to hear France and her lovely vocals in a funky setting. “Your Good Lovin’” is the second single from the project following “Gonna Get Over You”. It is another great love song which gives us some slick keyboards and funk beats and was produced by Darryl Payne and Eric Matthew (Sharon Redd. Gary’s Gang) and features an arrangement by Giuliano Salerni (Ultimate, Strange Affair, Bonnie Boyer).

I have taken the original album version and recreated a ReStructure Mix using the loop edits for a new approach. I have extended it for more of France’s outstanding performance and of course the backing vocals of Fonzi Thornton and Dolette McDonald. A funk fest made in New York and branded the same!

The monster club hit! Tony Green (Caroline Bernier, Freddie James, U.N., Norma Lewis) produced this classic back when the formula for disco was definite and refined. This project consisted of many musicians, studio mixers and brains that brought much of the Canadian disco music which topped the charts in the late 70's and throughout the early 80's. This is proof positive that the fire was till raging long after top 10 dropped disco formats. And after listening to this cut you can figure how it will never go away.

My ReStructure pulls this melodic love ballad into a new energy structure.

Another great Prelude classic from France Joli and Tony Green. This funky little number was a CO-play with "The Heart To Break The Heart" and is remembered well by many. Great classic disco percussion lingers below this track. I have pulled a lot of it to the surface and extended the song a bit.

This ReStructure is dedicated to VJC of Disco935 - Rhythm and Soul of New York for keeping the heart of disco music pumping!

ReStructure Mix Update (9/24/19) “Where Did Our Love Go” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Amii Stewart

ReStructure Mix Update (9/24/19) “Where Did Our Love Go” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Amii Stewart

Amii Stewart is one of disco music’s premier performers and with her big disco hit “Knock On Wood” from 1978 she is an elite part of music history. Her 1981 album “I’m Gonna Get Your Love” features a cover of The Supremes classic “Where Did Our Love Go” – produced by Narada Michael Walden. This piece was featured on the first 12” single from the project and has the edge which we remember best as Amii steers her way through a mass of disco electronics weaving in and out. It is also a nice slick cover of the Motown classic and nice sensual vocal approach for Amii. Always a nice blend for me during afterhour’s moments where a nice reminder of disco ingenuity works.

I have taken the 12” version and recreated a new ReStructure Mix working those drum tracks and the jittery synthesizers into a new question for Amii. This one also contains a rolling fade for perhaps more energy.

The Salsoul Orchestra is the disco band from the mid-70s which fused Philly-soul, funk and Latin music to create a whole new chapter in dance music. The 1978 album “How High” is the album which gives off the mature sound of disco music of the time. “Resorts International” is a track from the project produced and co-written by Bunny Sigler and features The Sweethearts of Sigma serenading a locale where all is possible for relaxation and entertainment.

I have created a Disco Video Mix for “Resorts International” using the 1967-Technicolor film, “Hotel” starring Rod Taylor as the hotel manager. The drama occurring as they check in and out and the owner himself realizes that the future of his financially troubled hotel. Visuals of the building and some of the outside businesses are used to enhance the exciting sound of the disco track.

The film was directed by Richard Quine
