REISSUE: “That Old Black Magic” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jeanne Shy

REISSUE: “That Old Black Magic” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jeanne Shy

Jeanne Shy and Bob Esty together are sheer disco ecstasy! The 1979 release of “Night Dancer” and a cover of the lounge classic “That Old Black Magic” are the excitement which disco reached during a year of many productions and the complete sound which the dance floors and clubs influenced. Jeanne Shy brings a whole new feel to the Bob Esty production that is full of emotion and jazz/soul feel which rings like magic dust sprinkled over a lush and beautiful disco orchestration. This one was always on my turntable and continues to haunt my memory of nights where the mood was captivating and oh so exciting.

I have taken the 12” version of “That Old Black Magic” and reworked Bob Esty’s flawless production in that ReStructure Mix angle. It gives more play for a long intro to Jeanne’s statement and more breaks to give your heart and feet a break.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Ms. Jeanne Shy and Mr. Bob Esty
