"From Now On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Linda Clifford

"From Now On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Linda Clifford
Linda Clifford is one of disco music's divas with a well-built reputation of always meeting expectations of her fans. Linda began as a jazz singer and soon recorded her solo album in 1977 - produced by Gil Askey and Leroy Hudson. The single "From Now On" from the album became one of the clubs favorites for a touch of the sweeping disco arrangements with echos of soul and funk.

I have taken the fabulous 12" remix and have given it a ReStructure Mix working - and extended the track with more of the percussion drop outs and a looping of the beautiful strings. Linda's vocals are intact, as they should be with a bit of play with some phrases.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Nick and Lindsay - thank you for always educating me and reminding me of just how wonderful disco music really is. You boys are treasures in my collection of musical loves!

“Got To Find A Disco” by Love Exchange – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Got To Find A Disco” by Love Exchange – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Love Exchange is a disco group from Greg Carmichael – the single “Got To Find A Disco” was released in 1978 on Dance Disk Records. It is a fast-funky track with the uplifting and underground feel of high energy disco music.

I have taken the 1978 disco-comedy “Record City” and blended it with the Love Exchange single. The film’s stars Ed. Begley, Jr., Rick Dees and Sorrell Booke. It is a silly camp film using a disco soundtrack to cash in on the disco boom. It does however provide a nice disco scenic realm for the disco single.

The film was directed by Dennis Steinmetz

"Jive Talkin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bee Gees

"Jive Talkin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bee Gees
Bee Gees topped the charts in 1977 with the soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever" - the single "Jive Talkin'" was featured on the soundtrack - however it was released in 1975 on the album "Main Course". It was produced and arranged by Arif Mardin.

I have taken the album version of "Jive Talkin'" and have given it the ReStructure Mix treatment - extending those funky guitars, bass tracks and the kickin' percussion. It is a dub-extended mix that takes the soulful-pop track to another dance experience.

Dedicated to the Bee Gees and their marvelous talent and contribution to disco music!

"Just Let Me Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Scandal

"Just Let Me Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Scandal
Scandal is a disco band produced by Paul Freitas and Richard Freitas - they released two singles in the early 80s. "Just Let Me Dance" being the first - and the biggest. A disco anthem from 1980 with the funk and soul of disco music which displays a wonderful flow of energy and rhythm.

I have taken the original 12" version with the mix by Mr. Jim Burgess and have given the track a ReStructure Mix - taking parts and pieces of the irresistible song and rearranging it for another chance to celebrate it's power!

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Kimberly Kohler on Facebook - and her fabulous flavor of disco music - keep on dancin' Kimberly!

"Don't Let Go" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tasha

"Don't Let Go" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tasha
Tasha (Tasha Joan Paul) is a European disco artist who released a pumping electronic dance single. "Don't Let Go" in 1986 - produced by Fred Bekky (also produced Trillion). The frantic energy in the song always reminded me of a more tame "Maniac"-esque feel. Tasha's vocals are the 80s high-energy style and are at times quite irresistible.

This ReStructure Mix was requested by "nep30" - so I have taken the "U.S. Remix" and the "U.S. Dub" which was released on RJM Records and recreated a new sweaty routine with a few new surprises to heat up the track.

"Thief Of Hearts" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Melissa Manchester

"Thief Of Hearts" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Melissa Manchester
Melissa Manchester recorded "Thief Of Hearts" in 1984 for the soundtrack of the film by the same name. It was produced by Giorgio Moroder and Harold Faltermeyer and reflect the hard hitting electronic dance edge of the 80s.

I have take the 12" version and created ReStructure Mix adding a bit more instrumental elements to establish an more eerie introduction to the mysterious feel of the song. It was a popular pop-dance track and many hear it as a outline for the 80s dance mix.

"Keep It Confidential" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Nona Hendryx

"Keep It Confidential" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Nona Hendryx
Nona Hendryx began her recording career with Pattie LaBelle (LaBelle). Her career path was always destined as a source of soul and energy giving life to many projects. Her solo album "Nona" from 1983 was quite a welcome project during a transition period for dance music.

"Keep It Confidential" is the first single from the album and was a huge favorite among dance floors and club addicts. It is one of the most beautiful dance songs with a mixture of soul, rock and dance rolled into one incredible performance by Ms. Hendryx.

I have taken the 12" version and created a new ReStructure Mix extended much of the rolling piano tracks and Nona's wonderful vocal. It has a few new breaks and drop outs that only bring on another build.

"Stand Back" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Stevie Nicks

"Stand Back" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Stevie Nicks
Stevie Nicks former member of Fleetwood Mac released her first solo album, "Bella Donna" in 1981. During the big pop-dance 80s era many artists were releasing songs that were formulated as a new style of pop-dance. Many of them actually released as 12" single with remixes for extended club play - just as the 70s 12" disco single.

"Stand Back" is from Stevie Nicks' 1983 follow-up LP titled "The Wild Heart" - the song became an instant favorite among her fans and also 80s dance floors. Produced by Jimmy Iovine, the song uses a heavy synthesizer base, which I always associated with a mild Patrick Cowley - and a clever rock edge to bring the song a pop-rock feel for Stevie and a place in clubs.

I have taken the 12" single and did a few chops and edits to create a new ReStructure Mix - focusing on the roaring synthesizer, of course and also bringing some of the hidden elements out. It pulls the original mix to a little over 9 minutes.

“Baby Face” by Wing and A Prayer Fife and Drum Corps. – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Baby Face” by Wing and A Prayer Fife and Drum Corps. – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Wing and A Prayer and Drum Corps are a disco project from 1976 which disco-fies big band and swing favorites with the sweeping disco production. Produced by Harold Wheeler and Stephen Y. Scheaffer and features a full orchestra and the funky disco guitars and beat to work these songs on a 70s dance floor.

I have taken the single “Baby Face” from the album and combined it with the 1967 musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie” starring Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore. It is the roaring twenties and plenty of flappers work their feet and arms to this disco extravaganza.

The film was directed by George Roy Hill

"Fire" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Linda Imperial

"Fire" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Linda Imperial
Linda Imperial is a club diva who began recording with the disco group Loverde in 1980 - featured in the big disco hit, "Die Hard Lover". Following this induction to the dance floor, Linda has since released her singles, "Stranger", her own cover of "Die Hard Lover", "Killing Me Softly", a fabulous high energy version of Brenda Russell's "Get Here", and a high energy take on "Where The Boys Are".

Linda makes the dance seem like a disco lounge at times with her beautiful vocals - and in her 1987 track "Fire" (produced by Leo Frappier) she sets the dance floor into flame over this fantastic 80s production encompassing all of the energy into one single.

I have taken the original 12" single version and created a new ReStructure Mix dividing the arrangement into a whole new "4 alarm" mix. I have also added some new surprises and extended this hot number into a 9 minute version.

Dedicated to Ms. Linda Imperial - with thanks to her diva "fabulous-ness"! And also Mr. Leo Frappier for taking the reins of high energy music in the 80s - making the fantasy last!

"Say Something Nice" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer

"Say Something Nice" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer
Donna Summer's "Once Upon A Time" is the disco message from 1977 which made critics and the music industry take notice. A double album set with a production along the lines of a non-stop disco opera. Produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte and arrangements, keyboards, percussion and also backing vocals from Bob Esty.

"Say Something Nice" is the closing track from side A - which fits in this Cinderella-like take of a siblings and a evil step-mother who can never give credit to a princess in waiting. It is one of the most incredibly layered from the album and blends the funky-disco flavor with an orchestral accompaniment that lifts the message and Donna's vocals higher and higher. You may find your hips moving again!

I have taken the album version and mixed up an new ReStructure Mix to bring the song out again - with an intro using a few words from gossip shows that never seem..."to say something nice!"

Dedicated to Mr. Bob Esty! Music is a better world with your baton leading this disco symphony - thank you.

“On The Run” by Colleen Heather – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Colleen Heather is a disco vocalist who started recording with The New York Rubber Rock in 1977 with “Put Your Love In My Hands” – her solo LP released in 1979 had several hits, “Heartbreaker”, “Magic” and “On The Run” – the project produced by Bob Motta.

I have taken “On The Run” and blended it in this Disco Video Mix with the 1959 Alfred Hitchcock film, “North By Northwest” starring Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint. The chase leads to a romantic end which our disco chanteuse is phrasing.

"In The Middle Of The Knight" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Giorgio

"In The Middle Of The Knight" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Giorgio
Giorgio Moroder's "Knights In White Satin" (cover of the Moody Blues classic) is one of his earl experimental disco albums. Released on Casablanca's subsidary, Oasis Records in 1976 it is one of Moroder's early signs of genius. His use of moog synthesizers, percussion, guitars, disco strings and phasing are explored here.

"In The Middle Of The Knight" comes from the A-side "Knights In White Satin" medley - dividing the side long performance for a break into a mysteriously phased message that we can only guess pertains to a missed loved and a lonely night staring at the ceiling.

I have taken the album version and trimmed off the "Knights..." elements creating a lone remix for "In The Middle Of The Knight". It is one of the early sleaze pieces in disco music - and I have worked to create the same mode with touch of new drums and effects.

Dedicated to Mr. Giorgio Moroder and his hard-core fans everywhere!

“Once Bitten Twice Shy” by Vesta – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Once Bitten Twice Shy” by Vesta – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Vesta (Mary Vesta Williams) is an R&B singer who recorded a few dance single in the mid-to-late 80s and immediately became one of the top female vocals in the soul/r&b circuit. Her 1986 album “Vesta” contained two of the big r&b singles in the club circuit: “Something About You” and “Once Bitten Twice Shy”. The single “Once Bitten Twice Shy” is the focus of this Disco Video Mix. The song was produced by David Crawford – who also produced Chuck Cissel’s “Cisslin’ Hot”.

I have taken scenes from the 1979 comedy-romance film, “Love At First Bite” starring George Hamilton and Susan Saint James. It is a light Dracula spoof with the Count searching New York for his bride and eventually finds her in a discothèque. But not without difficulty and laughter.

The film was directed by Stan Dragoti

"Soul" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Frankie Valli

"Soul" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Frankie Valli
Frankie Valli began a recording career 1967 and became an American icon in pop music. His move into the disco arena came in 1976 with his album, "Fallen Angel" - it was the luck of the dance floor to have a voice as Valli's to grace the rhythmic beats of disco. His 1980 LP "Heaven Above Me" featured two disco hits, "Soul" and "Heaven Above Me" - it was time when disco music in the US was changing and yet this production brought it back to life once again.

I have taken the album version of "Soul" produced by by Bob Gaudio and featuring Gene Page on horns and strings and the incredible Greg Mathieson on rhythm arrangement. I have created a new ReStructure Mix which extends the conga and percussion elements and also the beautiful lush strings segments.

A big disco hit during the early 80s can be remembered again!

"Let Them Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - D.C. La Rue

"Let Them Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - D.C. La Rue
D.C. La Rue released his third album, "Confessions" in 1978 - along with magnificent disco producer, Bob Esty they managed to create a stamp in disco history outlining the talent of create true disco music. The album features the dance single, "Let Them Dance" which during it's release became one of the dance anthems for hardcore dance palaces.

I have taken the fantastic 12" version on Casablanca Records recreated a new ReStructure Mix - which faces the original mix mildly and only as an alternative "trip" for D.C.'s classic. The strings, horns, synthesizers and hand claps are the dose of disco energy and dance perfection that are the leader on 1978 dance music.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated with much respect to D.C. La Rue and Bob Esty who have made my life a fantasy of music and aural ecstasy - and it doesn't come in a pill! Thank you, boys!

"Come Fly With Me/Let's Do It Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pattie Brooks

"Come Fly With Me/Let's Do It Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pattie Brooks
Pattie Brooks is the disco diva who made people fall in love while dancing in discotheques during the 70s. Her sensual voice fit the groove of disco music and ignited many fires on Saturday nights. Her classic "After Dark" is considered one of the best recordings in disco music history.

From her "Our Miss Brooks" album I have taken "Come Fly With Me/Let's Do It Again" - produced by Simon Soussan - and have given it a new ReStructure Mix working with the bass and string elements to create a new experience along with Pattie's beautiful vocals. It has always been one of my favorite Pattie Brooks tracks -with it lush strings and die-hard percussion.

"Steppin' Out" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ray Dahrouge

"Steppin' Out" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ray Dahrouge
Ray Anthony Dahrouge is a producer/vocalist with many projects produced under his belt - including Street People and "Mon Amour" by Gary Criss. His solo album "Rendezvous With Destiny" from 1979 was a fantastic recording which gave the disco scene a wonderful soundtrack. The album was co-produced by Bill Terrell and featured John Davis as arranger and conductor.

I have taken his disco hit "Steppin' Out" - the original 12" version - and have given it a ReStructure Mix work over using those classic Davis bongos and working the track with more of the strings and vocals pieces. Some surprise breaks and a fade out.

Dedicated to Mr. Ray Dahrouge and Mr. John Davis

"Magic Man" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Broadway

"Magic Man" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Broadway
Broadway is disco project lead by producer and arranger, Willie Henderson and features a dreamy vocal by Patti Williams. This album was one of the disco gems which remained underground - for the hardcore discotheques and dancers to appreciate.

"Magic Man" is the title cut and one of the most soaring love songs with a disco beat - complete with a soulful disco backing that brings a memory of great Supremes songs. This number is a little anthem in it's own right.

I have taken the album version and have reworked it into a new ReStructure Mix trading off the intro for the fade out and playing with some of the words and breaks. It is my own little tribute to one of those great disco songs that make the dance floor an escape for lovers and dancers who love to embrace the floor.

"From Now On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Caren Armstrong

"From Now On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Caren Armstrong
Caren Armstrong is a vocalist who wrote along with Herb Jimmerson of Paradise Express on their second album, "Let's Fly". "From Now On" is a single produced by Herb Jimmerson and featured on the Fantasy Record label in 1980.

The aura of "From Now On" is similar to the sound which Jimmerson created with Paradise Express along with his lead vocalist and wife, Vi Ann. It is an electronic fantasy vibe with inserts of synergy.

I have taken the 12" of "From Now On" and have given it a longer intro which it lacked - and also extended parts and pieces of the song which I have always dreamed of hearing in a club or spinning myself. It is a dreamy and at the same time bouncy track that I have always loved and felt expresses the transition of electro disco to 80s dance.

Dedicated to the memory of Herb Jimmerson of Paradise Express.

"Disco Queen" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paul Jabara

"Disco Queen" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paul Jabara
Paul Jabara is an actor, singer and songwriter best know for penning "Last Dance" for Donna Summer and also being a big influence on the Casablanca disco wave during 1977 for his album "Shut Out".

In 1978 Paul starred in "Thank God It's Friday" and also was featured with two songs in the double album soundtrack. "Disco Queen" is his funky-camp outline following closely the films mood. It was produced by Paul along with the master of disco arrangements, Bob Esty.

I have taken the special 12" version from the soundtrack and have given it a new ReStructure Mix - taking the funky bass and long piano and string breaks to extend and give the arrangement a more dub-like feel - without losing the lighter disco feel.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Mr. Bob Esty and also the memory and talent of Mr. Paul Jabara.

“She Has A Way” by Bobby ‘O – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“She Has A Way” by Bobby ‘O – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Bobby ‘O is a disco/high-energy producer from the late 70s and on to the 80s. His work includes Roni Griffith, The Flirts, Oh Romeo, Waterfront Home, Divine, One-Two-Three and many other studio projects. His work is heavy on the disco synthesizer and deep-sometimes tribal percussion.

His 1982 solo track “She Has A Way” is one of the better known sounds and songs of that year. His work was a definite move for disco back to the underground stage.

I have taken the 1950 drama “Harriet Craig” into this Disco Video Mix – combining the play on the disco song title and Joan Crawford’s domineering character. It works great fun and a new way to dance to both Joan and Bobby ‘O on one floor!

"Can He Find Another One?" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Double Discovery

"Can He Find Another One?" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Double Discovery
Double Discovery is Boris Midney and his magic touch with disco music. A full orchestration along with the funky guitars leading this track from 1982. One of the big disco-retro pieces with a touch of Midney's studio magic.

"Can He Find Another One" is a sign of a confused lover wondering if love can be returned from a distant lover - the pain and bewilderment is felt with the lovely keyboards and strings creating a bit of a strange platform which works.

I have taken the 12" "West Side" and "Instrumental West" versions and recreated the take with a whole new intro and arrangement - extending the melodic instrumental parts - which always stole my heart.

Dedicated to Mr. Boris Midney in thanks for his gifts to the dance floor which resonate the beauty of disco music.

"I Heard It Through The Grapevine" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - P'zzazz

"I Heard It Through The Grapevine" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - P'zzazz
P'zzazz is disco group produced by Frank Pezzola and Lowell Mark from 1980- one of the high energy disco tracks that helped to save dance floors in the early 80s. This cover of the Marvin Gaye/Motown soul classic is a fast and rolling disco version that makes it seem easy to move to the disco beat.

Lots of great guitar tracks and bass on percussion - a nice slick production which is the one and only from this studio group.

I have ReStructured the original 12" mix by Mike Pace and Ray Velazquez to recreate a new chop-and-go feel. I have used much of nice rhythm guitars and of course that jungle percussion to move this mix along!

“Don’t Stop The Classics” by Tempo Rubato – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Tempo Rubato is a Dutch production team: G. Hessing, A. Mol, E. van Prehn, C. Bergman and E. Veerhoff also known as Cat Music. They have produced and created many disco projects in the early and mid-80s as well as a series of disc jockey break and effects compilations.

“Don’t Stop The Classics” is their 1985 project which follows along the “Stars of 45” genre and style – this time around the use various ABBA tunes and some classical symphony excerpts. It is one of the big floor packers for me of the time and one of my favorite melodic disco tracks.

I have taken the 1940 animated Walt Disney classic, “Fantasia” and synced the disco song and the animated segments together to create a fun and silly montage to flow with this Dutch disco number.

"When You Wake Up Tomorrow" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Candi Staton
Candi Staton began recording in 1970 with her first album "I'm Just A Prisoner" and her warm and soulful voice lead her into the disco era which gave her a few classics's including "Young Hearts Run Free", "Run To Me", :Victim" and "When You Wake Up Tomorrow".

Her eighth album "Chance" contained her single, "When You Wake Up Tomorrow" - with Patrick Adams co-writing, playing and arranging. The project was produced by Jimmy Simpson and Candi Staton. The classic 12" single mix contains the Simpson magic.

I have taken the 12" version of "When You Wake Up Tomorrow" and have given it the ReStructure Mix treatment to recap this fantastic song for Candi and the last of the disco era mood and nightlife affair theme. I have given the song a lengthier mix with a few new breaks and turns.

Dedicated to Candi Staton and Mr. Patrick Adams!

"Shake It Up Tonight" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cheryl Lynn
Cheryl Lynn is one of disco musics classic discoveries and most recognizable voices. Her first album "Cheryl Lynn" - contained the disco hits "Got To Be Real" and "Star Love" - two of the most incredible recordings in dance music.

"Shake It Up Tonight" comes from Cheryl's 1981 album "In The Night" - produced by Ray Parker Jr.. One of the early 80s funk/dance hits which outline the nightlife scene once again by telling the story of itself.

I have ReStructured the 12" version of "Shake It Up Tonight" and have given it a new face-lift with some deep-dub effects and once again gave Cheryl the time to get us up on the floor for hardcore satisfaction!

"In The Pocket" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - African Suite

"In The Pocket" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - African Suite
African Suite is a disco project from Richie Rome (of The Ritchie Family fame) - a project centered around a raw African rhythm concept. Much like the disco projects that focus on a theme and dig deep to create a fantasy edge for the dance floor.

The album "African Suite" was cutting edge for the time and fit the deep bass rhythms with the track "In The Pocket" - which leads a side long adventure into odd-like chants, whisper vocals and heavy percussion.

I have taken the album version of "In The Pocket" and recreated a ReStructure Mix with more fantasy and mystery to go around. This is a track to merely get lost in the rhythm and feel deep inside your mind for that escape. Go there!

Rockwell (Kennedy William Gordy) is a 80s artists who had a big radio/dance hit with “Somebody’s Watching Me” in 1983. His LP by the same name contained his follow up single, “Obscene Phone Caller” – another 80s dance single in his campy funk-punk style.

I have taken the 12” version of the song and paired it with the 1965 William Castle thriller, “I Saw What You Did” starring Joan Crawford and John Ireland. A sometimes silly thriller shows what innocent pranks can lead to when you prank call a psychotic killer.

"Love Machine" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tempest Trio

"Love Machine" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tempest Trio
Tempest Trio is Mike Theodore and Dennis Coffey - a studio disco band with a funky edge which makes the end of the 70s era tasty and satisfying.

"Love Machine" is the first single from the project which features one of Dennis Coffey's fantastic guitar riffs which make the song a classic from the first beats! The vocal is Theodore's studio ensembles and make this song a resonance of disco energy and intrigue. Plenty of great parts to make one feel the power of disco music all over again.

This ReStructure Mix take my favorite pieces and creates a new experience with that classic vocal build! It is intended to bring back the disco era with all of it's glory and magic.

Dedicated to Mr. Mike Theodore and Dennis Coffey - two of disco music's "greatest" talents!
