REISSUE: “Rumor Has It/Happily Ever After” by Donna Summer – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Rumor Has It/Happily Ever After” by Donna Summer – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Donna Summer’s 1977 double record package “Once Upon A Time” is one of the perfect disco themed projects ever. The beat driven tale of a Cinderella-like wish and romance comes to life in this perfectly arranged recording by Bob Esty and production from Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte – and again the incredible pen of Donna Summer giving life to a night of dancing. Leaving a trail of “fairy-tale” dust in discotheques around the world. I have created a short medley of the turning points of this disco-epic: “Rumor Has It” during the wishes and hopes of our princess and the big finale filled with love and promise. The images are provided from a 1977 adult adaption of this glittery story from “Cinderella 2000” – the film is a low-budget and kooky flipside to the original but still holds the dream come true ending which is the focus here. I have clipped out the skin for the fairy tale dust. This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to the master, Mr. Bob Esty! The film was directed by Al Adamson Featuring scenes from “Cinderella 2000” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: “Call Me Tonight” by Cerrone – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Call Me Tonight” by Cerrone – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Cerrone’s 1979 project “Angelina” is a continuance of his genius in both composition and execution of dance floor fantasy. The classic track “Call Me Tonight” features Michelle Aller on lead vocals and a sensual yearning that has made followers of both new and old Cerrone fans. One of my all-time favorites of the time and also for years following as I have experienced the track during early morning dance programs and watched dancers reach a new level of excitement with its musical flow and the fantastic trip is creates. I have taken scenes from the 1984 suspense drama “Mike’s Murder” starring Debra Winger – minus the drug references and crime scenes – I have lit a new flame for the love story between Debra and Mark Keyloun. It plays our as sensual as the disco track and also gives a nice interpretation of what Cerrone’s music spells out. REISSUE: "Tender Is The Night" by THP Orchestra - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera The 1949 Samuel Goldwyn Classic, "Our Very Own" with Ann Blyth and Farley Granger is blended with disco classic, "Tender Is The Night" by THP Orchestra to create a romantic interlude in this video mix. The track from the 1978 LP by the same name is given life by producers Ian Guenther & Willi Morrison -- a beautiful dance ballad with The Duncan Sisters (Phyllis and Helen Duncan) weaving magic with their alluring vocals. I have always held both this song and the film close to my heart. This being the perfect time to bring the two together -- and dedicate to my partner, Ken. Featuring scenes from "Our Very Own" -- available on VHS only -- RENT IT NOW! Video Edit by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE:“Bewitched” by Polly Brown – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE:“Bewitched” by Polly Brown – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Polly Brown is a singer from Birmingham, England who began recording in 1975 with her first LP “Special Delivery” – produced by Gerry Shury and Phillip Swern. Her single, “Up In A Puff Of Smoke” made it to #16 in the US charts. Her 1980 single “Bewitched” – which is a cover of a show tune from the 1940 Rogers and Hart musical, Pal Joey was a minor disco hit. At the time, I admired the return a pure disco arrangement – it is still one of my favorites! I have taken the 12” of the track and blended it appropriately with the 2005 film “Bewitched” starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell – the film is a comedy-romance story based on the 60s television show, “Bewitched” – with some reality adjusting. It flows along with Polly’s sultry and lovely vocal which always reminded me of a Diana Ross-esque sound. The film was directed by Nora Ephron Featuring scenes from “Bewitched” – RENT THE DVD! REISSUE: “On The Run” by Colleen Heather – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “On The Run” by Colleen Heather – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Colleen Heather is a disco vocalist who started recording with The New York Rubber Rock in 1977 with “Put Your Love In My Hands” – her solo LP released in 1979 had several hits, “Heartbreaker”, “Magic” and “On The Run” – the project produced by Bob Motta. I have taken “On The Run” and blended it in this Disco Video Mix with the 1959 Alfred Hitchcock film, “North By Northwest” starring Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint. The chase leads to a romantic end which our disco chanteuse is phrasing. The film was directed by Alfred Hitchcock Featuring scenes from “North By Northwest” – RENT THE DVD! ReStructure Mix Update (8/29/20) “Looking Out” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Oh Romeo

Oh Romeo is a studio group from high-energy/disco producer Bobby Orlando. The sessions produced several singles on Orlando’s Bobcat Records label including “Looking Out” from 1983. This one is a roundup of the elements that Orlando created in the early 80’s using heavy percussion and rolling synthesizers to pull off the task. It was this sound that helped the mid and late 80’s to continue the dancers to serenade all over again and again. It was definitely a fusion of what producers like Giorgio Moroder were bringing forth in the mid and late 70’s.

I have taken the 12” version of “Looking Out” and recreated a new energy for the outline of this ReStructure Mix. There is a play on the verses of this daring woman who spend her nights searching for that perfect love and also a bit of tribute to Moroder himself by using one of his finest riffs.

REISSUE: "Dance It's My Life" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Midnight Powers

REISSUE: "Dance It's My Life" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Midnight Powers Midnight Powers was a big surprise for 1981 - a high energy disco track in the tradition of great Philly sounding strings and 80's percussion tracks. The song became quite a sensation following it's release on a compilation titled, "Prime Cuts 1" on Importe 12 Records. The original label Overseas Records from Japan lists the producer as Mark G. Hill - and the domestic release as Masaharu Yoshioka. It is quite strange that the instrumental track became the most played and popular verses the vocal track which sound something like a Tavares vocal. Either way, the track is still an underground classic. I have ReStructured the instrumental version and gave it a new intro and complete arrangement moving the mix towards the downbeat sections of the invigorating party track.

REISSUE: "Jump Shout" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lisa

REISSUE: "Jump Shout" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lisa Big high energy track produced by the legendary, John Hedges and Barry Blum - this one is the big floor packer of 1982. Lisa took discotheques and feet hostage with this powerhouse number released on San Francisco's Moby Dick Record's. I have taken the Remix Version by Bill Motley and Craig Morley and given it a ReStructure Mix uplift for a faster and higher jumpin' mix. Dedicated to Mr. John Hedges - The Man!

REISSUE: "Space Bass" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Slick

REISSUE: "Space Bass" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Slick Just as their name states, this one is "slick"! A classic disco cut which seems to age well. With the bass line that rolls and jumps like electricity this dance track is eclectic. Slick was actually Barbara Ingram, Carla Benson and Evette Benton (Sweethearts Of Sigma, Metropolis, backing vocals for Grace Jones, Freddie James, France Joli, Nightlife Unlimited, etc.) so how could this band go wrong. I have taken the track and "spaced" out breaks and some new effects to elongate this incredible song.

REISSUE: "Bamalama" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Belle Epoque

REISSUE: "Bamalama" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Belle Epoque Belle Epoque is Evekyn Verrecchia, Giusy Fortes and Marzia Thear - "Bamalama" is the mystical track with the bumping disco bass and the electric wizardry that makes Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" work double time. "Bamalama" is a reference to cocaine - obviously some heavy stuff with the deep pounding sound of this number. The whole emphasize is that it "blows the mind"! I have taken "Bamalama" and added a few pieces of beats and looping the intriguing mass of synthesizers and keyboards. I have intended to keep the deep rooted sound intact and add a few more layers of intensity.

REISSUE: "Bang A Gong" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Witch Queen

REISSUE: "Bang A Gong" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Witch Queen Gino Soccio and Peter Alves created studio band, Witch Queen in 1978 at The Muscle Shoals Sound Studio - along with Denis LePage on synthesizers and his back-up vocal ensemble including Heather Gauthier, John Oriettas, Mario Cadotte and Paul Chacra. The project included two disco covers of two rock classics: "All Right Now" by Free from 1970 and "Bang A Gong" by T. Rex from 1971. Soccio and Alves take the rock classic "Bang A Gong" into an electronic feel with a hard hitting and hand-smacking disco arrangement. I have ReStructured the track and added a few beat percussion elements and effects to give the mix a bit more freedom. It is fare to the original with the ReStructure flavor of not falling too close!

ReStructure Mix Update (8/28/20) “Undercover Girl” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sharon Redd

ReStructure Mix Update (8/28/20) “Undercover Girl” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sharon Redd

Sharon Redd is the diva of the funk with a disco groove following it. Her introduction onto the dance floor was beautifully timed with a studio group called Front Page and their huge single “Love Insurance” from 1979. Her solo recording career began in 1980 with her big Prelude Records single “Can You Handle It” – and following were big dance palace hits including “In The Name of Love” and “Beat The Street”. “Undercover Girl” is a single released in 1985 – produced by Michael Stokes. It was close to the 80’s pop-funk sound that groups like Apollonia 6 and Midnight Star were weaving. It is the Sharon Redd who plays it street like a lady. One of the funk-fests for Redd and in her own way she conquers this piece.

I have taken the 12’ vocal and instrumental of “Undercover Girl” and re-jammed a ReStructure Mix for this beat-crisp number. The beats are reworked into a new outline and Sharon’s confession is portrayed in a new way. This mix is dedicated to the lady herself, Sharon Redd and also, Lona Warden – who still teaches me how love is so strong and lasting.

REISSUE: “Object Of My Desire” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Starpoint

REISSUE: “Object Of My Desire” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Starpoint Starpoint is a soul/funk/disco band from Annapolis, Maryland whose influence on the dance floor made the funk end of a dance program complete. Their big hit from 1985, “Object Of My Desire” produced by Keith Diamond and Lionel Job helped to place them upfront on radio and dance floor programs. One of the most irresistible vocals from Renee Diggs and kick beat productions which bring a hard edged and mean message to gentle words. It was a huge hit for my playlists and helped to breakdown the high energy and 80s alternative dance tracks into a funk arena quickly. I have taken the 12” version – both vocal and instrumental to recreate a ReStructure Mix which would play out in a whole new direction – without taking the original intent away. With kick beats and keyboards playing out like a rock anthem this one is well deserved to be celebrated as a giant 80s influence. Anyone who has ever felt its groove knows just what it is all about.

REISSUE: “Tonite” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sho Nuff

REISSUE: “Tonite” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sho Nuff
Sho Nuff is Al Bell III, Bruce Means, Freddie Young, James Lewis, Lawrence Lewis and Lyn Chambers – a funk/disco band from the late 70’s throughout the mid-80’s. Their music is a definite move from the disco cream to a new brand of 80’s dance with more of a band feel. “Tonite” is from their 1980 album by the same name and is a memorable piece that is a touch of that dreamy groove with a nice underground feel. The song was recorded again by Fern Kinney under the title “Love Me Tonite” the following year which is the version that many disco audiophiles may remember most. A beautiful piece done here with a lovely arrangement and production. I have taken the album version along with the reprise track of “Tonite” and reworked a ReStructure Mix for those who clamor for that funky mood with a love injection. I have worked more of the drums into the verse along with a few new breaks.

REISSUE: “Make That Move” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Shalamar

REISSUE: “Make That Move” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Shalamar Shalamar is Jody Watley, Howard Hewett and Jeffrey Daniel. Their disco hits “Uptown Festival” and “Second Time Around” are classics from the disco era and their 1980 project titled “Three For Love” delivered a new sound for the trio. Produced by Leon Sylvers, III and portrays the sound of 80s funk in a polished manner. “Make That Move” is the single which follows closely to “Second Time Around” as the electronic funk edge pulls the trios lovely voices. Shalamar brings the 80s into a fresh new sound and also maintains the respect that is deserved. I have taken the 12” single of “Make That Move” and edited a ReStructure Mix for a tribute to Shalamar and the 80s funk scene. The guitar elements are reworked in several parts of this new arrangement keeping intact the original groove with just a touch of drop-outs and breaks for a new option.

REISSUE :“And The Beat Goes On” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Whispers

REISSUE :“And The Beat Goes On” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Whispers The Whispers are a soul group from the late 60s and throughout the 70s who left a string of ballads to keep any romance alive and in 1979 their anthem “And The Beat Goes On” did the same for dance floors. A big funk record and one big Dick Griffey transitional song for a group taking part in the disco and dance phenomena of the period. This one makes it seem easy for groove to take over and relay the intended message. I have taken the 12” version of “And The Beat Goes On” to replay the beats and groove in a new way for this ReStructure Mix. It is a bit more adventurous in looping and breaks and is intended to move it into a whole new realm. One of the big dance floor hits on my club and another reason why disco/soul and dance music has been so lasting.

REISSUE: "On The Beat" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The B. B. & Q. Band

REISSUE: "On The Beat" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The B. B. & Q. Band The B. B. & Q. Band (Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens Band) is a funk/disco project between producer Jacques Fred Petrus and arranger/conductor Mauro Malavasi - a big follow up from their very successful and familiar band Change from 1980. It is a move from Italo-disco to New York disco with the help of keyboards and the groove's created from the magic guitars of Chic from the late 70s. "On The Beat" is the LP and single from the 1981 LP which is one of the finest of the period in funk and disco. Being one of the most played funk tracks of the time and a refined old-school feel. I have ReStructured the song creating a mild intro with the groove and beats kicked up for a few to give the song a burst of energy and pizazz. It is one of my favorites and one of the few I can stop singing once I start.

ReStructure Mix Update (8/27/20) “Slave To Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sammy Allen

ReStructure Mix Update (8/27/20) “Slave To Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sammy Allen

Sammy Allen is a German Euro-dance artist from the mid-80s who released 2 singles which helped to keep the electronic dance aura alive. “Slave To Love” is a single released in 1988 – produced by Alf Siol. This track follows the patterns of a rock anthem which may had relevance in the early 80s. A simple keyboard arrangement in the Asian-wave style of the late 80s dance floor. This German production was featured on the Night’n Day Records which has some major slick releases in the period. The sheer ecstasy in the vocal makes this one a bit camp and as always it worked on dance floors.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Slave To Love” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix for the excitement of the Euro-dance sound of dance music. The arrangement has been stretched out and laid over a phantom percussion to give more of an underground sound to the track.

REISSUE: "Can't Stop The Music" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Village People The big close of an era of disco music is the climatic track from Village People and Jacques Morali, who produced and composed. The theme from the short-lived film which was awaited so as the big disco epic. It did not do so well in the theatre arena but picked up on the soundtrack end. And with Village People and The Ritchie Family as featured artists it was all disco fans needed. "Can't Stop The Music" is ReStructured from the 12" long version and given a few new pieces to remind you of the disco floor and it's allure. Dedicated to the boys from the troupe and their everlasting effect on the uplifting sound and period of disco music.

REISSUE: "Music Man" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Revanche

REISSUE: "Music Man" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Revanche
Perhaps one of the most perplexing of times online would be researching the life of Jacques Fred Petrus - there is much about the man but in many conflicting manners which take away some of the magic of his background. The bottom line is that his productions created a sound for disco that was taken to heart. From Macho's "I'm A Man" to his studio ensembles with Change ("Paradise", "A Lover's Holiday", etc.) his influence as a producer and contractor stand firm - this is some fantastic music. A cloud to escape on. Many of his productions are essential. Mauro Malavasi is the genius behind the music side along with many talented musicians and vocalist. "Music Man" is one of my all-time favorites in Petrus' style - I have taken the "bull by the horns" so to speak and chopped the heck out of this masterpiece. It's like 2 "Mona Lisa's" in one room!

REISSUE: "Don't Stop Dancing" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - France Joli

REISSUE: "Don't Stop Dancing" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - France Joli France Joli is the Canadian disco diva who took dance floors prisoner after the release of her first LP "France Joli" - tracks like "Come To Me", "Let Go" and "Don't Stop Dancing" were instant hits. It was the refined disco formula that had been in the works during the late 70s. I have ReStructured "Don't Stop Dancing" and edited the original album version to give the song a whole new arrangement and feel. It was a pleasure to hear the horns, strings, percussion and sound of this great period in disco history. The album was produced by Tony Green and arranged by Denis LePage

REISSUE: “Disco Power” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – U.N.

REISSUE: “Disco Power” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – U.N. U.N. is a disco project from producer Tony Green who also delivered classic by France Joli, Freddie James, Norma Lewis, Geraldine Hunt, Caroline Bernier and many early disco and high energy projects. This production features the lead vocals of Goldie Alexander (“Show You My Love”) and backing are The Sweethearts of Sigma (Barbra Ingram, Carla Benson and Evette Benton). “Disco Power” is the first release and pulls a punch with its tribute to the music of the time which created a unity and lasting feeling of good energy and celebration. This one is the essence of the energy which disco music became from the mid and late 70s. I have taken the album version of “Disco Power” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix which adds more of the riffs in places where it pumps more energy out of this geyser of disco percussion, handclaps and bass. It is a tribute to Tony Green and Denis Le Page who arranged this powerhouse album.

REISSUE: “Relight My Fire" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Dan Hartman

REISSUE: “Relight My Fire" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Dan Hartman Dan Hartman began his disco career with a bang - "Instant Replay" was a huge hit on dance floors in 1978 and ignited a high energy sound in clubs that began a new era of dance music. His second album "Relight My Fire" in 1979 was the time period for the height of disco madness. The title cut is now a classic along side the instrumental piece "Vertigo". I have taken "Relight My Fire" and have given it a new ReStructure Mix to place a new emphasis on the feel and importance of Dan's music both at the tail end of the 70s and during the early 80s. This mix works on the excitement of the strings, pianos and Dan's fabulous composition and theme. Sadly, Dan Hartman passed in 1994 - but his music lives on in the energy of disco and the hearts of many who experienced it. The music always gives way to new life and is here to create new memories for those willing to free their souls and feet. For you, lovingly, Mr. Hartman

ReStructure Mix Update (8/26/20) “Unchained Melody/Need Your Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Clem Curtis

Clem Curtis is a singer from Trinidad, West Indies who was originally from a group called The Foundations from 1966 through 1968. The disco era was fortunate enough to have Clem record his cover version of The Righteous Brothers 1964 hit produced by Phil Spector, “Unchained Melody” with a disco arrangement produced by Tony Sadler. Clem’s single was released in 1979 on RCA Records and is one of the underground favorites among those DJ’s who did not miss it due to over saturation of this big disco year. This dance version allows Clem to deliver a wonderful vocal over a 70’s funky arrangement with guitars and the sweet strings sweeping across the groove. The titled “Unchained Melody” comes from the film that the song was featured in titled “Unchained” released in 1955.

I have taken Clem’s beautiful disco version and reworked a new ReStructure Mix which pays homage to The Righteous Brothers version and rearranges the original without the camp chorus girls. The vocal is extended as rightfully as it should for this new disco sparkler.

REISSUE: "Computer Music" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Suzy Q
Suzy Q began a studio concept by Canadian producer, Jerry Cucuzzella - during the period of "Computer Music" which was released in 1985 lead vocals were performed by Angie Vileno. "Computer Music" is one of the 80s high-NRG gems. It has the lovely and sweet melodic disco diva welcoming fantasy for the dance floor and music pumping out an aerobic-like workout., I have taken the original 12" and ReStructured a journey for this track and added a few "computer" elements to fit into a new technology and meaning.

REISSUE: “Don’t Give Your Love (So Easily)” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Kimyla

REISSUE: “Don’t Give Your Love (So Easily)” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Kimyla Kimyla is a high energy disco project from producers Bobby Orlando and Don Oriolo and features the rolling synthesizer work and heavy drum percussion that made a statement for Orlando in the 80’s. It was his new formula that put the break before the chorus or verse and dance floors of the time period ate it up. “Don’t Give Your Love (So Easily)” is one of the most powerful pieces from Orlando and pulses out over and over with the begging female chorus with such distinction and emotion. It is one of my favorites of the dance period and brings back memories of crowded dance floors moving furiously to catch up with the rhythm. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Don’t Give Your Love (So Easily)” and reworked a ReStructure Mix with more of that percussion divided into more parts and the chorus chopped and served into more breaks.

REISSUE: “Wastin' My Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sticky Fingers

REISSUE: “Wastin' My Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sticky Fingers Phyllis and Helen Duncan are the powerhouse vocals behind Sticky Fingers - they are also known as The Duncans, The Duncan Sisters and THP (THP #2). I have always favored their strong and sass-ful vocals that always end up resonating a beautiful edge. "Wastin' My Love" is a track from the Prelude album simply titled "Sticky Fingers" and was produced by Ian Guenther and Willi Morrison (THP, The Duncan Sisters, American Fade, Skatt Bros., The Immortals, Shayne Jackson, Southern Exposure and The Grand Tour). Simply the top disco producers with a wide range of orchestrated dance music. This LP was one of my favorite disco projects and continues to pull my heart and feet into it's excitement. I have taken "Wastin' My Love" and reshaped it like clay - trying hard not to take away from the original sound of it's layered production.

REISSUE: “Shout It Out” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Astaire

REISSUE: “Shout It Out” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Astaire Astaire is a high energy project from producers Nigel Stock and John Davies and on the UK high energy label Passion Records. The success of this sound of a pounding beat and keyboards that feel like a classical instrument are only the start here. Vocals for Astaire are provided early on by Tracy Ackerman and later Jill Saward. Many of the songs by Astaire are focused on the old disco concept of love, life and dancing.
