"Spacer" by Sheila and B. Devotion - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Spacer" by Sheila and B. Devotion - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Annie Chancel is Sheila - her first LP in 1977, “Love me Baby” made her an international sensation in discotheques across the world. Her 1979 LP “Spacer” is produced by none other than Bernard Edwards and Nile Rogers of Chic. From start to finish the project has Chic written all over it. A great taste of funk, pop, and disco.

“Spacer” is a certified disco classic that continues to bring back fond memories of a dance era. It is truly a fabulous number for Sheila and B. Devotion.

I have taken the 1980 action adventure film, “Flash Gordon” starring Sam J. Jones, Melody Anderson, Max von Sydow and Topol and created a backdrop that is somewhat fitting for an hero. The film did not bring continued success for the lead stars, but has a colorful adventure for viewers.

This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to Rick and Dean in Australia - disco energy that never quits!

"99 1/2" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Alton McClain & Destiny

"99 1/2" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Alton McClain & Destiny

Alton McClain & Destiny's ("It Must Be Love") second project was released in 1980 - produced by Frank E. Wilson and John Footman - a soulful dance LP with some great tracks. A cover of "Hang On In There Baby" featuring Johnny Bristol, "Love Waves" and "99 1/2" the big floor stomper.

Although "99 1/2" was never remixed for the dance floor it still received some play in clubs. It was also recorded for the soundtrack of "Breakin" in 1984 by Carol Lynn Townes.

This ReStructure adds allot of percussion and claps and extends the bass guitars and dramatic vocals by the girls!

"Sphinx Medley" by Sphinx - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Sphinx Medley" by Sphinx - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The king of the eurodisco sound in the 1970's is Alec R. Costandinos - his compositions and productions are the highest in standards and execution.

His 1977 project "Sphinx" labeled as a studio group by the same name is a double movement featuring biblical charaters - I have removed the theme and used parts of the beautiful instrumentals with the powerful Ambrosian choruses to create "Sphinx Medley" - it is paired with the 1961 adventures film "Colossus Of Rhodes" the story of Athenian war hero Darios.

Segements and images from the film present a worthy drama for the backdrop of this Disco Video Mix of revolt and war as well as some beautiful costumes, scenery and men!

The film stars Rory Calhoun, Lea Massari, Georges Marchal, Conrado San Martín and Ángel Aranda - it was directed by Sergio Leone

"Master Piece" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Gazebo

• "Master Piece" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Gazebo

Paul Mazzolini is Gazebo - a very talented Italian singer/musician.His productions include one of my favorite Italo-disco tracks, "Give Me" by Range - but there are many projects he has touched with his genius. "Master Piece" being one of his most successful, as Gazebo.

"I Like Chopin", "Lunatic" and "Sun Goes Down On Milky Way" being several memorable songs from this production group.

I have take one of the earliest Italo-disco sensations and ReStructured it by piecing and looping areas that have touched me most. It is a great track - and a "masterpiece" on it's own.

"You Make It Hard To Love You" by Abbe - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"You Make It Hard To Love You" by Abbe - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Abbe is Abbe Lane - a singer and actress whom was married to band leader, Xavier Cugat in the 1950's. Abbe was described as "the swingingest sexpot in show business" during her career as a nightclub singer. At the end of the disco boom, Abbe released a disco project called "Rainbows" (which features her disco cover of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow") produced by Norman B. Ratner and assisted with guitars, bass and synthesizers by Bob McGilpin ("Superstar").

"You Make It Hard To Love You" was the first single from this album and scored quite well on dance floors - it is more of a hardcore classic. There are echoes of the finest pieces of what made disco dance music sharp on definitive.

I have taken Joan Crawford's big 1945 film, "Mildred Pierce" and syncopated to to this Disco Video Mix - as appropriate for a few characters in the film, who are difficult to love. It also stars Jack Carson, and Zachary Scott. Directed by Michael Curtiz.

• "Tomorrow" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cappuccinno

The beauty of pure disco music is explored here in Danilo Vaona's "Tomorrow" by Cappuccino - many hardcore jocks are familiar with the the deep disco track "He'll Dance With Me".

This song is the lighter side of lyrical disco. It sounds much like The Supreme's material of the early 70's. It is a wonderful production from Spain. The guitars and strings flow magically are are enhanced in this ReStructure Mix for an extended and enriched version.

This request came from Agustin - and is dedicated to him.

“Some Like It Hot” by Power Station - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Some Like It Hot” by Power Station - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Power Station was Robert Palmer, John Taylor, Tony Thompson and Andy Taylor - their 1985 dance hit, “Some Like It Hot” is given the Disco Video Mix treatment. The track was produced by Bernard Edwards (Chic) and has some of the meanest drum beats ever.

“Some Like It Hot” is blended with the Billy Wilder film of the title starring none other than Marilyn Monroe - also Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. The film was released in 1959 and was one of the campiest comedies around.

This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to our friend, Loulou in The Netherlands.

• "On Your Knees" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Grace Jones

From the 1979 LP "Muse" comes "On Your Knees" - the most sadistic of all Grace Jones' recordings - but the sweetest revenge.

Produced by Tom Moulton and arranged by Thor Baldursson - this one pulls every inch of Grace onto the dance floor with power and seduction. It was a hit in the discotheques for it's time and now ReStructured to teach us all a lesson about making it right the first time.

Backing vocals are provided by Barbara Ingram, Carl Helm, Carla Benson and Evette Benton.

"Touch My Heart" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Madleen Kane

• "Touch My Heart" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Madleen Kane

Swedish disco star, Madleen Kane started as a model - she was perfect for disco music with her luscious physique and sensual approach at emphasizing lyrics.

Her first LP titled "Rough Diamond" was released in 1978 - produced by Jean-Claude Friederich. The project was a disco rolled into a sexy package. Not only did "Rough Diamond" become a disco classic, there were a few more tracks destined for underground preference. "Touch My Heart" is a mid-tempo "love fest" that is as close to the alluring feel of disco music of the time.

The strings and bass in this song were the lure for myself to create an alternative ReStructure Mix and keep Madleen's image alive for others to experience.

"Native Love (Step by Step)" by Divine - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Disco producer Bobby Orlando brought one of the 70’s most outrageous personalities to the dance floor in 1982 - it was John Waters star, Divine. Since this moment, disco music was worshiped in a whole new way.

“My First Album” was the first release and contained “Native Love (Step by Step)” - an rowdy rap piece with Orlando’s signature keyboards weaving a fierce outline. Many of his projects included a defined disco break style sound - lots of electronics and percussion banging out the choruses. It was accepted immediately and became his trademark.

I have taken the theme from “Native Love (Step by Step)” which was probably influenced by a segment of “I Love Lucy” where the classic vaudevillian routine takes place - with hilarious results. It is used here as well as many other Lucille Ball funny moments.

"Turn The Music Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Players Association

• "Turn The Music Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Players Association

In 1977 The Player's Association joined "disco fever" with their LP "Born To Dance" - produced by Danny Weiss - the band included some great musicians: Bob Berg, Bob Mover, Chris Hills, Danny Weiss, David Earle Johnson, David Sanborn, Herb Bushler, James Mtume, Joe Farrell, Jon Faddis, Karl Ratzer, Michael Brecker, Mike Mandel, Pat Rebillot, Ray Mantilla, Steve Khan, Tom Harrell, and Wilbur Bascomb.

"Turn The Music Up" is from the LP with te same title released in 1979 during the boom of dance music. Is was a jazz and soul filled track with dance floors in mind.

I have taken pieces of the song and created a stomping arrangement with some chopping to release the energy in the right places.

"Hit 'N Run Lover" by Carol Jiani - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Carol Jiani's "Hit 'N Run Lover" is a disco classic. The track was released in 1981 and made a place on every dance floor from the first beat.

Produced by Joe La Greca and arranged by Denis LaPage - is was no wonder how this track was able to create magic in discotheques.

I had always envisioned the song as a theme from a James Bond film - it is now presented along with the 1974 film, "The Man With The Golden Gun" starring Roger Moore, Christopher Lee and Britt Ekland. Directed by Guy Hamilton

The theme moves along with the spy action and also allows Carol the opportunity to make the drama her own.

"Destination Theme" by Destination - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Danny Lugo along with Destination created the top level disco production of it's time. A medley of tracks that emphasize the fantasy and adventure that true disco music outlines. "Move On UP" is the track best known (a remake of the 1970 Curtis Mayfield soul classic) from the LP - but the start of our dance trip is "Destination Theme" - a great lyrical number which has the magic touch of producer, Elton Farokh Ahi.

I have taken the track and blended it with the 1962 classic "Gyspy" starring Rosalind Russell, Karl Malden and Natalie Wood - it seems appropriate that the show is the thing and entertainment is life's reward. The film was directed by Mervyn LeRoy.

“Shine On Silver Moon” by Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

McCoo and Davis have been entertaining audience throughout the late 60’s as members of the group The 5th Dimension (“Up, Up and Away”) – it was in the 70’s that their solo endeavors caught wind of the disco dance floors.

“Shine On Silver Moon” was released a disco 12” single – produced by Steve Cropper and Billy Davis Jr. – the remix was executed by John Luongo along with Jimmy Maelen on added percussion.

This is a romantic session with lots of emotion and heart – one of the great classics of disco touch dancing. My partner, Ken asked if I could take the 1987 film “Moonstruck” with Cher and Nicholas Cage and create a disco video mix. It is here with all of the excitement, energy and love.

Thank you, Ken.

ReStructure Mix Update - 9/8/09 - "TSOP (The Sound Of Philadelphia" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - MFSB featuring The Three Degrees

Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff assembled a group of musicians who have worked at taking 70's soul into a new direction. "Love Is The Message" released in 1973 played a big influential part of dance music and the polishing of grooves and rhythms for a new dance era.

"TSOP" is a track which was released as the "Theme from Soul Train" since it opened and closed the show. The track is a balance of studio sessions with some of the industries most talented players. Many who began working through the mid and late seventies on various projects in disco music.

This ReStructure takes the song into an extended arena where new beats and percussion trickle a little fairness to work behind the magic!

ReStructure Mix Update - 9/6/09 - "Our Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer

"Our Love" is a track, which is a love song, set to the fabulous music of Giorgio Moroder along with the alluring vocals of Donna Summer.

It is truly one of the disco music's most innovative and lasting attempts on the dance floor. There is a very strong emotional piece left behind with both Moroder's music and Donna's vocals. A recognizable part of this song may be the beat tracks, which definitely were the inspiration for New Order's "Blue Monday".

This ReStructure Mix was executed with a minimal of new elements added and only original parts left intact and re-wired.
Dedicated to Bob T. of Centereach, NY.
