"Dancin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Grey and Hanks

"Dancin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Grey and Hanks

Zane Grey and Len Ron Hanks released their LP "You Fooled Me" in 1978 - "Dancin'" is the first single from this project. The soulful and funky track added a new layer to disco music at the time. It was the extreme dance formula that became the pop end of radio and clubs.

I have ReStructured "Dancin'" to bring the song back in to the light with a new thumping intro and also adding a few more vocal elements out. It is a get boogie number and taking parts to reassemble into a new mix was fun.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Michael R. of San Diego - being one of his favorite disco tunes and for being a friend

"Try My Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Denise La Salle

"Try My Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Denise La Salle

Denise LaSalle hit the mark in 1980 with her LP "I'm So Hot" - this was one of the diva LPs of that year.

"Try My Love" is a sensation! A true soul/disco production with a rousing vocal and incredible synth and guitar arrangement. It is well remembered by many dancers and soul worshipers.

I have ReStructured the track with more breakdowns and some new kick beats to enhance the already pounding edge of the track. Denise's vocals are also extended for a higher high!

Dedicated to DJ Leon Neon in San Francisco (Go Bang!) for helping me to sing this in Medium Rare Records in the city.

"Love Spy" by Mike Mareen - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Love Spy" by Mike Mareen - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

High energy returned in the early 80's faithfully with artists like Mike Mareen - the electronic keyboards hovering over massive synthetic bass lines. Actually Mike had been around on the German disco music scene since 1974 this being his crossover to mega-disco.

"Love Spy" sounds similar to the Bobby Orlando formula with a bit more resources working along side Mike Mareen's crazy and outrageous themes. This one was a great return for him in 1986 and actually received dance radio play in the US. It is an adventure into electronic disco with more imagination and simplistic play. His earlier tracks included "Dancing In The Dark" and "Agent Of Liberty".

I have taken the 1997 film "Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery" starring Mike Myers, Elizabeth Hurley and Michael York into the Disco Video Mix and let the adventure takes it own coarse. It is a fun and silly trip - enjoy it while you can.

The film was directed by Jay Roach

"They Came At Night" by Patrick Cowley - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"They Came At Night" by Patrick Cowley - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Patrick Cowley marked a period in dance music that will live on throughout disco history. His 1982 project being his finale tribute to the techno-disco arena - "Mind Warp" is an LP featuring the track "They Came At Night".

The song is an excursion into the sci-fi would of invaders from outer space that slowly move onto out world. It is the perfect soundtrack for the 1978 remake "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" starring Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright and Leonard Nimoy. The original "Body Snatchers" was released in 1956 and features Kevin McCarthy and also in the cameo the remake.

The film was directed by Philip Kaufman

The concept makes perfect sense to me in that any life from outer space would not be in a form that we are traditional stories and beliefs.

"I Love New York" by Metropolis - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"I Love New York" by Metropolis - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

One of Salsoul Records biggest treats during the disco era was Metropolis - a Tom Moulton production along with Thor Baldursson on arrangements. This being a Munich Land Studios (Munich) and Sigma Sound Studios (Philly, USA) collaboration, with very favorable results.

"I Love NY" is a single form the project which was used in the revitalize New York ads in the late 70's - a great orchestrated and upbeat track. One of those numbers, which makes the soul, feel alive.

I have taken the 1981 film "Arthur" starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minelli into the Disco Video arena along with Metropolis - and although the film did not feature much of the magnificent city I did add a few wonderful images to pace it all along with the fun and excitement of the story.

"I Wanna Go Home With You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Jimmy 'Bo' Horne

"I Wanna Go Home With You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Jimmy 'Bo' Horne

Jimmy 'Bo' Horne along with the help of the "Miami Disco Machine", H.W. Casey (K.C. and The Sunshine Band) and Richard Finch helped to create the new pop sound of disco music in late 70's. Much of the transition was thanks to earlier hits by K.C. and his Sunshine Band.

"I Wanna Go Home With You" is the flip side to the 12" "Spank" on Sunshine Sound Disco Records and from the LP "Dance Across The Floor" - it was always a favorite track of mine and outlined the excitement of that Miami Disco sound - thanks to Henry Stone.

The cut was a mere 3 minute track - but here in this ReStructure it is extended and given the arrangement for peak hour. The guitars, horns and pianos are working like magic here, again!

"Spin It"- Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sunbelt

Sunbelt is Rodney Eubanks on vocals and a production by Douglas Groover. Better known as a track on Prime Cuts 1-Double LP released on Importe 12 in 1981.

A one time studio session by all involved and quite an underground classic - the lasting effect has more to do with the simple electronic feel of the record and the falsetto vocals that track each groove out.

I have taken the track and presented a new mystique-style intro using the elements which percolate throughout the song - also chopping and rearranging a bit with more breakdowns and an easy exit.

"In The Evening" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sheryl Lee Ralph

"In The Evening" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sheryl Lee Ralph

From the original Broadway cast of "Dreamgirls" the very lovely and talented Sheryl Lee Ralph wondered into the disco arena in the mid-80's. Her anthem and stay-power piece "In The Evening" was one of the most exciting tracks of the time. A taste of Sheryl's wonderful vocals and a street-disco feel.

I have taken the track deeper in the streets of New York with a darker intro and working the percussion into a slight edge. This one makes Sheryl eel as though she means what she is singing about. A new break and arrangement can keep this classic where it belongs: "In The Evening"!

Dedicated to Donn J. - thanks for the request for Sheryl

"Sentimentally It's You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Theo Vaness

Theo Vaness is a Dutch vocalist also known for his work with band, The Shoes.

After his first LP "Back To Music" in 1978 his disco fame came easily and very welcomed. Produced by Michaele, Lana Sebastian and Paul Sebastian his disco work is well known by audiophiles and dancers.

"Sentimentally It's You" is a track from his "Bad, Bad Boy" LP from 1979 and remains a favorite among many who hold high energy and romantic themes close to heart. An excellent breath of disco magic.

I have taken the track in a ReStructure area and created a new intro, rearranged and looped some very memorable moments from this giant.

Dedicated to Theo and his niece, Loulou from The Netherlands

"Come And Get Your Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lime

"Come And Get Your Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lime

Disco in the 80's was a breath of fresh air with bands like Lime.

A fusion of electronics and a light flavor of simple love and life are the key influence here. Their 1980 blockbuster track "Your Love" kept dance floors all over the world waiting for the Lime II project. It was a simple hit with tracks like "Babe, We're Gonna Love Tonight" and "Come And Get Your Love".

I have taken the pulsating track by Denis and Denyse and given it a new flavor and arrangement in my ReStructure style. This one makes the percussion dance and the wait for the opportunity to showcase it's own.

Dedicated to Dominique of Paris and Loulou of The Netherlands - enjoy!

"I Am Woman" by Jessica Williams - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Jessica Williams has been a part of disco music during the vital years - from Arpeggio to French Kiss.

It is no wonder that her talent take on a new representation in 1999 with a techno-dance cover of Helen Reddy's 1972 hit "I Am Woman" - produced by Ray Burton. The track was featured in the film, "Trick" and cleverly so.

I have taken the production in a new realm along with the 1982 comedy, "Tootsie" starring Dustin Hoffman, Jessica Lange and Terri Garr - it is obvious where the connection is - a mouth full of laughs and great spotlight by Dustin!

"Ite Missa Est" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Martin Circus

"Ite Missa Est" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Martin Circus

Martin Circus was a rock band formed in France in 1969 and are noted as being one of the first to use the French language in rock.

Their progression into disco music became more evident in the mid and late 70's. Their LP titled "Disco Circus" released in 1979 contains 2 of of the most intense productions in French disco history. "Disco Circus" was a big part of the Paradise Garage movement and was remixed for the venue.

"Ite Missa Est" is Latin and means something like "Go, the Mass is ended" - here in their musical piece they express a high energy feel with swooping keyboards and hard hitting percussion. The track is known for it's beauty and energy.

I have ReStructured the piece using the elements in extreme loops and adding a few more parts of the original to express a deeper form.

This mix is dedicated to Rick of Seattle, WA - for his dedication to keeping the beat alive in the more intense manner

"Get The Look" by New Paradise - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Get The Look" by New Paradise - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

New Paradise were known in the late 70's as Paradise Birds - in the 80's producer Leo Carrier gave them the title New Paradise. One of the best known singles is "Get The Look" from 1981.With the help of percolating synthesizers and stark and deep keyboard arrangements this tracks moves fast and furious with much attitude and energy.

I have taken the 1990 documentary film, "Paris Is Burning" directed by Jennie Livingston and blended these energies together and looked to create homage to the fabulous world of fashion and drag. The film centers on the "ball culture" of New York City and the African American, Latino and transgender community, which created and keeps the runway alive.

A mixture of both vogue and pose are the energy to bring the track by New Paradise alive once again!

"Touch Me On My Hot Spot" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Saturday Night Band

Saturday Night Band was like candy to a dance floor - the funky and chic productions by Jesse Boyce and Moses Dillard are a sound which helped disco music to move into a new phase.

"Touch Me On My Hot Spot" is a track from their LP "Come On Dance, Dance" on Prelude Records - it is the sound of pure disco music complete with lush strings and drums pounding out rhythm. The theme of this track is quite sensual and a bit driving. It was the perfect moment for a disco lesson.

My ReStructure Mix take the drums and gives them more spotlight as well a well moments for those lovely string breakdowns.

"Boxer" by Twilight - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Boxer" by Twilight - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Twilight is an Italian disco ensemble - Massimo Zuccaroli, Fabio Sinigaglia and Claudio Zuccaroli. Their 1983 single "Boxer" is an example of the Italo-disco formula, which helped to set the stage for a new form of disco music.

The track emphasizes a dedication to succeed with the dream of self-discovery through the sport of "boxing". The track has a nice aura of early morning flavor along with a pop-rock edge. It works well with its sharp production.

The 1976 film "Rocky" starring Sylvester Stallone, Talia Shire, Burgess Meredith and Carl Weathers has some images that fit well, not only with the theme but the determination of our hero. I have combined several of the well-known excerpts from the film along with our disco track.

"Love's Unkind" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer

"Love's Unkind" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer

Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder and Peter Bellote were creating disco noise with many of their conceptual projects - from "A Love Trilogy" to "Four Seasons Of Love". It was 1977 when the cat was let out of the bag - "I Feel Love" and the "I Remember Yesterday" medley from the same LP brought a new light to the dance floor and sanctified disco music forever.

"Love's Unkind" is a track that is well-known among Donna's worshipers and is guaranteed to bring a sound back which not only is the "bobby-socks" era but also the high point of feel-good disco music.

I have ReStructured the piece from the medley and also added a few samples from a girl group that we all know of and also broke down the beats for a funkier feel.

"Pushin' Too Hard" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paul Parker

Patrick Cowley and Paul Parker together in 1982 is a landmark in disco history. Cowley's trippy synthetic arrangements were a part of the late 70's with studio bands like Fever ("Beat Of The Night") and also many of Sylvester's hit dance tracks (ex. "Dance (Disco Heat)" and "Stars") - it was the blood flowing through the veins of early high energy disco.

Paul Parker has continued to bring his wonderful vocals throughout the early period of high energy from the San Francisco disco movement of the 80's to present. His accomplishments only outline his dedication to the craft and his own heart.

"Pushin' Too Hard" is a rock classic recorded by The Seeds in 1966 - Paul does a excellent job following the energy of Cowley's keyboard magic and emphasizes the desperation well.

I have ReStructured this special B-side from the original 12" (was not available on Paul's first LP) and added a familiar riff and also some percussion, breakdowns and took advantage of that wonderful percussion loop ala Cowley!

"You Made Me Believe In Magic" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bay City Rollers

70's boy band, Bay City Rollers is Alan Longmuir, Leslie Richard McKeown, Eric Faulkner, Derek Longmuir and Stuart 'Woody' Wood

Their big hit "Saturday Night" from 1975 made them a pop phenomena among young girls and the earliest signs of "boogie music" on AM radio. Their 1977 LP "It's A Game" contained the single "You Made Me Believe In Magic" - which has the essence of early morning disco music and much more.

The track is much like a David Cassidy love ballad - but with swirling strings and bongo driven verses that are all that early morning disco are made of.

I thank Franklin Fuentes from New York for turning me onto this missed little gem - it was produced by Harry Maslin.

My ReStructure Mix extends the original 2:41 single track to a near 8 minute dance cut - adding a new intro, percussion and some looping. It is a wonderful experience to hear those strings and pop-boy- vocals!

My ReStructure Mix extends the original 2:41 single track to a near 8 minute dance cut - adding a new intro, percussion and some looping. It is a wonderful experience to hear those strings and pop-boy- vocals!

"St. Tropez" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Diva Gray and Oyster

Diva Gray began her career touring with Harry Belafonte. You may better know Diva as a session singer on the first Chic LP ("Dance, Dance, Dance"), Gregg Diamond's Starscruiser ("This Side Of Midnight", "Danger") and various Kenny Lehman projects including Lemon's "Freak On". Her voice is very distinctive and a great style.

Diva Gray was also one of The Harlettes (backup trio for Bette Midler). Her career lead her to a studio band produced by Luigi Ojival (C.K.B., Silver Shoes, Final Offspring) and is one of my favorite feel good disco projects. "Hotel Paradise" is the title track and the most uplifting for Diva's voice - a bit much like a child's nursery song.

"St. Tropez" is ReStructured here with a whole new feel and breakdown of the song - a funkier flavor and back beat. It being on of the most beautiful sounds of the big disco era - I wanted to keep the track alive.

Diva Gray also had a single produced by Jacques Morali (Village People, The Ritchie Family) in 1981 on Prelude Records - a cover of "Memories" from "Cats" - which is fabulous also.
