ReStructure Mix Update (9/15/26): “Sixty-Nine"  – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Brooklyn Express

Brooklyn Express is a disco group from Began Cekic along with Eric Durham and formulated an outline for medleys and covers of dance classics from the early and mid-70s. “Sixty-Nine” is their 1981 single which became one of the most notable for clubs at the time. This medley uses pieces of Jimmy “Bo” Horne’s “Spank” and a few other recognizable riffs from  tracks that shared the hot moments on dance floors. The approach is an early dub-like version focusing on the rhythmic and percussive parts of the song. The raw feel is the magic which works here along with the great musicians recreating a foundation for the pieces of existing recordings. This group was also co-produced by Fred Zarr who worked with Jacques Morali (Village People, The Ritchie Family).

I have taken the 12” versions of “Sixty-Nine” and have used the concept for a deeper dive in this ReStructure Mix. Taking a few more Jimmy “Bo’ Horne classics and placing them alongside this remix take the dance experience into another realm of disco fantasy.
