ReStructure Mix Update (4/24/26): ”Black Jack” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The ‘V’ Project

The ‘V’ Project is a high energy project from producer Vincent Degiorgio who also gave us Tapps, Crystal In The Pink, Shezoray, Eria Fachin and Barbara Doust. A well and knowledgeable producer who took the mid-80s for an opportunity to keep the dance floors hot in the disco tradition. “Black Jack” is his 1985 cover of the Baciotti song originally released in 1977. Degiorgio takes advantage of each of the rhythmic outlines of the song and gives it a more lustful and enticing edge. The vocals flow nicely with the arrangement and as intended relay a touch of mystique to the song. High energy music is an electronic form of the disco arrangement from the late 70s and in this venture The ‘V” Project (obviously ‘Vince’ Project) takes this classic disco song right back where it left off only in a new technical stage of musical production.

I have taken the 12” vocal and dub versions of The ‘V’ Projects “Black Jack” and rewound the energy into a new ReStructure Mix. Laying out the mysterious keyboards into a new arrangement which places the song again in a new environment.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/23/26): ”Party Song” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sticky Fingers

Sticky Fingers is a disco project from veteran disco producer Ian Guenther and Willi Morrison - who also gave us The Grand Tour, THP Orchestra, Southern Exposure, Ramming Speed and The Duncan Sisters. “Party Song” is the last track on the Sticky Fingers project which also features Phyllis and Helen Duncan on lead vocals. Released on the disco label Prelude Records in 1978 and became a dance floor must for the time period. This low BPM disco/funk number gives a jam session for the musicians to play out the never ending house party occurring in our song. The fantastic vocals of Helen and Phyllis are one of the big spectacles of this production which captures their diversity in delivery and excitement. Each project from Morrison and Guenther pushes the electronic fusion in their arrangement and this one pours it on thick successfully. A must for the Prelude Records disco album collector who knows the true direction of where disco music was headed in the late seventies in appeal.

I have taken the album version of “Party Song” and have spaced the original into new segments for this ReStructure Mix. I have placed a new beat and kick to the funky arrangement to give it a new resonance as well as a new direction.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/22/26): ”Matter Of Time” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Ooscha

Ooscha is a garage/house project from Eric Miller (E-Smooth) and Joey Carvello with remix production by Maurice Joshua. “Matter Of Time” is beautifully sung in an illusive yet distinctive style and gives off the essence of tracks by synth-pop trio Expose. Keyboards lead the way with several riffs which are in the Chicago house feel using chords repeated to give the rhythmic sound. The nice drops within the arrangement are a nice temporary drop in energy and disguising the emotion of the song where our heroine is so in love it is driving her out of her mind. It has a sweet quality which pounds out the house elements in a lovely way.

I have taken the 12” version, dub and a segment of “Mo’s Mix” of “Matter Of Time” to redirect the track in a new ReStructure Mix. More of the key elements which make up the song's strength are used more as an outline in this remix.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/21/26): ”Eighth Of Your Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Gregg Diamond’s Hardware

Hardware is one of the studio projects from Gregg Diamond who made the disco world stand still with his 1977 project Bionic Boogie which featured Gwen Guthrie and Yolanda McCullough in the chorus section. The big hit “Risky Changes” created a new blend of soul/funk and the new sound of disco music during its release and was highly respected by music audiophiles and reviewers. It became the starting point for disco releases to be compared to. Of course we also know that Gregg Diamond also produced “More, More, More” by The Andrea True Connection. Hardware is a Bionic Boogie project he created for Mercury Records as he did for Marlin with his group Starcruisin’. “Eighth Of Your Love” is played out in Diamond’s fabulous method where phrases are turned inside out and then used to reference a chorus tie-line. This uplifting number has the horns that we know Diamond for and a sweet chorus introducing a hard delivery for the initial chant eventually becoming a beautiful disco crescendo. A nice closing for Diamond’s work during the disco era and a much anticipated album for myself being a big fan of his projects.

I have taken the album version of “Eighth Of Your Love” and brought it into a ReStructure Mix with what was originally laid down. A new rhythm track is laid on the foundation to grab the percussion and new segments of the chants are pieced among the new arrangement.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/19/26): ”Droid” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mito

Mito is an Italo-disco project from Italo Portesani and Stefano Secchi (later became Secchi “I Say Yeah”. Their single “Droid” was released in 1982 on Italian dance label Zanza Records and is the cover version which was originally released in 1978 under the name Automat. This full electronic production is the first element of Italian disco music which was making quite a stir in clubs around the world and was the third layer of the return of disco music since the end of the 70s. Even though many producers and groups from Italy were a large part of the disco sound during the disco era. This new sound was electronic and innovative for a time where breaks and long intros were being called “synth-pop” on the American market even though the formula remained “disco”. “Droid” has a simple arrangement which outlines a heavy keyboard sound which could be mistaken for a “Phantom Of The Opera” with the ominous feel. Italo-disco in the dance market during the early 80s was fresh and exciting and this number found its way onto many medleys and mixes in this genre.

I have taken the 12” version of “Droid” and reapplied a new edit and arrangement for this ReStructure Mix intended to pay homage to the 80s Italo-disco sound. I have given the remix more space to venture into the areas which it does and also a breakdown for the finish.
