ReStructure Mix Update (12/29/25): ”Call Me” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Spagna
Spagna (Ivana Spagna) is an Italian singer and songwriter who has appeared in many groups including Fun Fun, Hot Cold, Fancy, and Mirage. Her vocal is recognizable and one of the uplifting sounds of Italo-disco during the 80’s. Her solo single “Call Me” from 1987 is from her project titled “Dedicated To The Moon” - produced by Spagna and Larry Pignagnoli. The track gave her a hit in the US in clubs and on airwaves during its release. It is a love song which pleads with its “no time to waste” sensibility. The production started as an Italian disco track to a pop-street-beat synth-pop sensation. This truly gives Spagna the leading stage that her voice deserves and also brings a fresh new edge of Italo-disco to the time period.
I have taken the US 12” pop-remixes of “Call Me” and realigned the sound to a new ReStructure Mix. The hard hitting beats are used again to bring the energy to this new remix and also a few break-downs.

ReStructure Mix Update (12/23/25): ”I Can’t Help It” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Bananarama
Bananarama is composed of Keren Woodward, Sarah Dallin and Siobhan Fahey - a trio who began recording together in 1981. Their music reflected a post disco sound gearing towards a synth-pop edge. “I Can’t Help It” is from their 1987 project titled “Wow” - produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman. This light and semi-sexy track is a more moderate direction using the producer's staple sound along with the trio's sweet and melodic harmony. There is a more definite stance here and the group began to peer in a more outward and sexy appeal unforgivingly. It was a nice twist from the 80’s flash appearance which the girls took on initially. “I Can’t Help It” is a double helping of the bass, percussion and energy that the mid-80s dance floor made over as disco also did in the late 70s with soul and funk.
I have taken the 12” versions of “I Can’t Help It” and re-energized the track into a new ReStructure Mix. The added Latin/samba foundation pushes the song into another peak where the sound takes on another dance step.

ReStructure Mix Update (12/19/25): ”Something Special” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Nomad
Nomad is a house music ensemble from England - featuring Steve McCutcheon and Sharon D. Clarke. “Something Special” is their single from the 1991 project “Changing Cabins” - produced by Damon Rochefort. This uplifting house mood is a love song with the unity and flavor in their first big dance floor hit, “I Wanna Give You) Devotion” from 1990. The pulsating bass and piano riffs create the house music movement in its entirety. One of the great pieces with that high-energy feel and echoes good vibes on the dance floor.
I have taken the 12” versions of “Something Special” and moved this celebration into a new ReStructure Mix. Taking the house riffs and firing them in new ways creates a new arrangement for this big theme and keeps its energy alive.

ReStructure Mix Update (12/17/25): ”Elevation” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – GTO
GTO is Lee Newman and Michael Wells - a duo creating club music for early 90s in the techno, rave and house mode. Their 1993 project titled “Love Is Everywhere” contained their single “Elevation” which made it onto many playlists which featured the alternative dance creations with a somewhat harsher edge to the arrangements. The formula for tracks like “Elevation” were giving segments of dance rhythms in various harcore mix segments. This number has all of the stripped down pieces of techno and rave which the dance floors of the early 90s embraced. There are several riffs which feel like the standard recipe of rave yet the drum beats and endless energy create a constant flow. One of the weapons of a harcore night of intense move and shake.
I have taken the 12” versions of “Elevation” and rewired this number for a new ReStructure Mix. Taking the pounding rhythms into a lengthier play and outline for this rave-fest.

Tina Turner made the 80s her home again. Many hits were made during this period for this veteran of rock, soul, disco and synth-pop. The incredible flexibility of her roaring vocals create a canvas itself for music to pour itself over. “One Of The Living” is from the 1985 soundtrack for “Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdome” - in which Tina also starred in. The production by Mike Chapman is a street-beat edge of electronic pulsating rhythms and a rock edged accompaniment. Another piece from Tina which gives off that 80s sound yet this lady always seems to make it her own.
I have taken the 12” versions of “One Of The Living” and reworked the original for this ReStructure Mix. I have laid out the fading intro for a new dramatic effect and also have given it a new fade to place yourself in an endless place - right where Tina’s music will always be.

Lene Lovich (Lili Marlene Premilovich) is a singer and musician from the late 70s who also co-wrote for the Cerone projects “The Collector” and “Rock Solid” by Chi Chi Favales. Her 1989 project titled “March” contained her dance single “Wonderland” - produced by Lene Lovich and Les Chappell. This edgy dance single dabbles into the mystic underground where Lene describes the events of an energy taking place in a world which only comes after dark. The electronic production is laid out in a format pleasing to the theme and discovery of her music all in part. She works this song in a ghostly vocal style which is more fitting then the take itself. A great 80s dance number with the feel of new-wave and 80s dance clubs.
I have taken the 12” versions of “Wonderland” and reignited the energy in this new ReStructure Mix. The story is stripped down and layered in itself to recreate a new light at the end of the nightlife to discover.

Mike Mareen (Uwe-Michael Wischhof) is a German disco artist who achieved his dance floor status in 1985 with his big dance floor hit “Dancing In The Dark” and also in 1986 with “Love Spy”, His edge of electronic dance music joined the high-energy sound which was a demand in clubs around the world. “Here I Am” is from his 1985 album “LP Dance Control” and follows in the same vein along with his melodic style vocal delivery and roaring crescendos taking over segments of his tracks. This number is a stomper from beginning to end and makes his legacy complete with his dedication to dance music in the 80’s form.
I have taken the 12” version of “Here I Am” and worked the pounding arrangement into a new ReStructure Mix. Using a brief street-beat rhythm track to introduce the song into a new forum.

Madleen Kane is the disco chanteuse who made the disco years exciting and then onto the 80s where she was able to make a transition to a new dance scene. Madleen has always played a major part in the creation of her music and it is displayed throughout time as her work survived three generations up to today. “I Want You, Need You, Love You” is her single from 1979 - produced by Michaele, Lana and Paul Sebastian - the original producers who brought “Rough Diamond” her initial project to life. “I Want You, Need You, Love You” is another fabulous piece which contains the teasing and loving vocals by Madleen in a shift into an early electronic vibe. A sultry edge is directed again in her mild and appropriate sexy manner and builds into several moments where we can appreciate her career as the disco singer who stands for energy and iconic diva profile.
I have taken the 7” single of “I Want You, Need You, Love You” and transformed the 4:51 minute version into a new ReStructure Mix. The outline focuses on new instrumental-dub segments which lead into the lovingly sensual feel of the track.

WestBam is Maximilian Lenz - a German electronic alternative dance artist who filled in the gap between house music and techno dance. “And Party” is a 1989 release which centers on the energy of New Beat music and house energy. His arrangements include samples of “Spank” by Jimmy ‘Bo’ Horne from 1979 and leads into a vocoder rapping out the rhythm and moving in and out of the composition. The end of the 80s signaled used for several passages of heavy bass and tech-keyboards - the use of his tools here provide an outline of the new direction of independent produced dance music to a whole new level. As exciting as it gets here with the non-stop rants of “party” energy and giving exactly what was needed for the dance floors of the time.
I have taken the 12” versions of “And Party” and reignited the messages with some help from past tracks in this ReStructure Mix. Breaking this mix into 3 parts where influences from the past rear their “party” messages along with WestBam.

ReStructure Mix Update (12/8/25): ”Never Give Up” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jinny
Jinny is an Italo-house project from Alessandro Gilardi, Walter Cremonini and Claudio Varola in the early 90s. “Never Give Up” is their third single from 1992 and plays out in the high-energy mode with the house elements placed throughout. It is sung by Janine Brown and sets the pace for this non-stop techno race. The riffs are the focus on this track and they are dependable on any dance floor. The original 12” single features several mixes and I focus on the extended mix to bring this foot stomper back for more. The Italo-house movement created many faucets and styles from producers and labels and this one stands out as a, ear full.
I have taken the 12” extended version of “Never Give Up” and transformed the hot arrangement into a full on ReStructure Mix. A few plays with the acapella add a new break and the keyboard tracks are sliced and diced in this new mix.
