ReStructure Mix Update (9/30/21) “Chase” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Giorgio

Giorgio Moroder made his mark in the 70’s with his innovative work with electronic music and style and this eventually led him into scoring a motion picture soundtrack for the 1978 film, “Midnight Express”. The movement titled “Chase” became focus for a dance version which became a big hit on dance floors. My experience with Moroder’s soundtracks brought to mind the organ music behind the silent movie; out lineg the drama as it unfolds. In 1985 Moroder released a compilation of his work up to date titled, “From Here To Eternity..And Back” which also featured a new recording of “Chase” for the 1985 sound. This new version was kicked with new beats and stripped down the basics of the composition. It displays a raw feel and a bit less of what the original created yet it is still one of Moroder’s must feel as his music continues to influence artists and minds.

I have taken the album version of “Chase 1985” and reapplied some effects and phasing for this ReStructure Mix. The keyboards play out in several segments for a new effect and new percussion gives it a slight lift.

REISSUE: "Remember" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Vivian Vee

Vivian Vee is the disco diva from Trieste, Italy.

Disco producers Claudio Simonetti and Giancarlo Meo who have given us productions by Easy Going and Capricorn as well as solo projects have always moved the dance floor with innovative keyboards in the early 80’s - here they give the same treatment to Vee.

“Remember” is most know as the B-side to Vee’s “Give Me A Break” in 1980 – however the track was released in 1979 on a self-titled LP. The song is an operatic and haunting track with some excellent layers on keyboards and synthesizers.

I have re-edit pieces of the song and reshaped the intro and breaks. A bit hard to take this into a new phase since I loved the original so much – this is merely an attempt o keep it alive.

REISSUE: "The Night (La Noche)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Azul y Negro

Azul y Negro is Carlos Garcia Vaso and Joaquin Montoya - a synth-pop duo from Spain. Their 1982 LP "La Noche" contained the title cut "The Night" which became an instant dance floor hit from the moment it blared from the speakers - pounding the beats and sequencer bass. The song outlines the maturity of electronic music and delivers it in an 80's club format. Quite simple and effective.

I have taken the 12" version and ReStructure it to give it a longer and re-edited format with lots of "twists, turn, loops and effects". It has always a fan of the band and this single - it is offered here for an alternative trip!

REISSUE: “Guilty” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Hotline

Hotline is a studio project from producer Bobby Orlando and outlines the synth-pop 80’s in a high energy light. Fast moving and erratic sequencers percolate over heavy percussion and bongo tracks are the production which brought this formula to its greatest effect in the mid-80’s. Orlando’ Hotline began as a take on his productions by The Flirts and his big hit with “Passion” – and his own parody on his music created the formula which many dancers will remember as infectious and hard to resist. “Guilty” is another simple melody piece that has the confessions of a cheating lover who turns themselves in with more resentment and in this light “rhythm”. It was one of the big identifiers for Orlando during the time and still a favorite among his followers and me.

I have taken the vocal and dub on the original Memo Records release of “Guilty” and re focused the pieces into a new ReStructure Mix. The story is a bit rearranged and reused for a loop-to-loop transition and a dub-energy.

REISSUE: “Love Me” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Model

Man Parrish hit the dance scene in 1982 with his self-titled album which featured an array of dance flavors from street, hip-hop to high energy. Quite an important project for the time for me as it brought the electronic edge of energy from “Heatstroke” and then the electro hip hop sound of “Hip Hop, Be Bop (Don’t Stop)”. His work has always reflected an innovative edge and imaginative dance beat for the new high energy and electronic dance period of the early and mid-80s.

I have taken his production of “Love Me” by his studio group, Model – which was featured on the Disconet Issue Volume 7 Program 8 in 1985 – it featured vocals from Beth Rudetsky (sang back vocals for Alisha and co-wrote “Love Me”). The high energy track has always been one of my favorite since the first time I was entering The Probe in Hollywood and heard, “Love me, love me, tell me that you love me…” echoing through the hall entrance. It is featured here with an extended ReStructure Mix with a few added effects and some of those fantastic drum breaks.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to the man himself, Mr. Man Parrish – thank you Man for continuing the mystique and power of dance music. It continues to echo on and on!

REISSUE: "Just Be Yourself” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Nightlife Unlimited

Nightlife Unlimited is a disco project from Tony Bentivegna, Johnny D’Orazio, Louis Toteda and Peter Sciascia – produced originally by Peter Di Milo and George Cucuzzella (“Disco Choo Choo”). The start of the 80s and the end of the big disco studio productions brought a new raw edge along with a touch of rock/new wave feel as “Just Be Yourself” from 1980 replays. It was the lead for many independent productions from producers, artists and performers to keep the mood of disco music alive. “Just Be Yourself” is a hard hitting track which sounds like a pop-rock Top 10 hit at times and then yanks us right back to the disco underground feel with the pulsating bass synths and cowbells. A great dance that is considered one of the dance classics from Canada.

I have taken the album of “Just Be Yourself” and played out a new ReStructure Mix to work on more of the rumbling bass and rocked out vocal. A new synth play is added and some new breaks.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/29/21) “The Louder” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Peter Jacques Band

Peter Jacques Band is a studio ensemble placed by Jacques Fred Petrus whose work with Italian arranger, Mauro Malavasi stood more than the test of time during the disco era – it created a variable of sounds for it. With many groups to their credit including Macho, Revanche, Change, B.B. & Q Band, Caprice, Rudy and Midnight Gang their music matured in various grooves. The pulsating energy of Macho and Peter Jacques Band was morphed into their funky disco arrangement by Change and B.B. & Band. The success of this sound brought them to a wider market and dance floor response. “The Louder” comes from their 1980 album titled “Welcome Back” and is an electronic-funk piece that may have been well to being a new sound for the studio bands original disco energy. It is a funk fest and another opportunity to hear the talent in arranger Mauro Malavasi’s magic.

I have taken the album version of “The Louder” and worked on bringing the groove back into another place in this ReStructure Mix. A new set of bongos are added to bring that low groove into a new place and several new breaks are added.

REISSUE: “My Feet Keep Dancing” by Chic – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Chic is Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers – a duo that created a sound for disco music, which was funky and sophisticated. Their 1979 album “Risqué” contained one of that year’s huge anthem – “Good Times”. It was a celebration of what people were moving and feeling in clubs around the world. “My Feet Keep Dancing” was a following single from the project which also claimed some attention from disc jockeys and dancers.

I have taken the track and blended it in this Disco Video Mix along with the 1955 Fred Astaire musical “Daddy Long Legs” – the theme is obvious and the dancing is contagious. It is a prime example of disco music and its message which has never ceased.

REISSUE: “Manhattan Shuffle” by Area Code (212) – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Area Code (212) is a disco project from veteran disco producers Joe Castellon, Joe Bana and Stan Bronstein. A fabulous ensemble featuring Frieda Ann Williams, Sherroil Jennings and Steve Shelto – igniting several disco numbers with a great passion and dedication to the dance floor. A touch of the big band era is the highlights and hoopla here. “Manhattan Shuffle” is one of the big numbers here and with the wonderful vocal from Steve Shelto this one evokes a special magic.

I have taken scenes from the American musical “Gold Diggers of 1935” and created a visual treat for fans of the BIG Busby Berkeley scenes. It plays out with more celebration than Manhattan would expect!

REISSUE: “My Numbers Up” by The Salsoul Orchestra – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The Salsoul Orchestra is one of the forces in disco music history which created a new experience combining the power of funk, soul, and a layer of dramatic strings and Afro-Cuban percussion and vibes. The experience brought a new excitement to the underground sound of club music and then moving on to influence a new style of dance music in the 80s titled house music. The group’s seventh album from 1978 titled How High” contained several dance floor and fan favorites. “My Numbers Up” is a track which brings the colorful elements of disco music alive while bringing the funkiest rhythm and arrangements to once again spell out disco’s style and formula.

“My Numbers” Up” is used in this Disco Video Mix as a soundtrack to this montage of 1930s musicals along with the film “42nd Street” which features choreography by Busby Berkley. This Disco Video Mix extends the theme of the sound and the melodies directly to the essence of its creation. You may be taken on a trip back to a time where entertainment was much more dramatic than any side long disco overture.

REISSUE: “Running Wild In The Night” by Evelyn Thomas - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Evelyn Thomas (Ellen Lucille Thomas) is a disco-star who released her first album released in 1978 and produced by Ian Levine and in the disco orchestra concept. During the early 80s Ms. Thomas became the “Queen of High Energy” with her anthem titled “High Energy” which became one of the classics from the period. “Running Wild In The Night” is a track from the project which was featured on a 12” single disc that also received club play and became one favorite for Evelyn Thomas fans.

This Disco Video Mix takes “Running Wild In The Night” and pairs it with the 1943 comedy-musical film, “Du Barry Was A Lady” starring Lucille Ball, Red Skelton and Gene Kelly. The romance, dance numbers and Lucille’s beauty created a new experience for the disco number. It is one of my all-time night-life songs and is great to give it a new life.

From Andy Kahn (who also wrote and produced "Hot Shot" by Karen Young on the West End label) wrote, produced and arranged tunes including "Stand Up Sit Down" on the RSO label. Along with Philadelphia DJ Kurt Borusiewicz, Andy was one-half the collaborative team of AKB in 1979.

I have taken the 1935 film "Top Hat" starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and placed the excitement of tap dancing on the disco beat.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/28/21) “My Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Lime

Lime is the disco group who ignited the high-energy phase of dance music. Their 1980 release “Your Love” is one of the big releases with the full execution of non-stop energy and an electronic arrangement with quite a force. Following their initial release the group never ceased to make another impact on dance floors everywhere with each project. Denis Le Page is the mastermind behind the compositions and much of his work in the late 70’s is more early successes. These projects include releases by France Joli, Freddie James and Kat Mandu. “My Love” comes from their 1984 project titled “Sensual Sensations” and plays out beautifully with another arrangement that pulsates from bass to a melodic keyboard crescendo and is topped with Lime’s unique vocal duo: Denis and Denyse Le Page.

I have taken the album version of “My Love” and aimed at giving these one another spin with more breaks and a different build for this ReStructure Mix. It has always been one of my favs from Lime so keeping it spinning was never a problem. A new drum tracks and percussion are placed to give this version a new feel.

REISSUE: “Don’t Beat Around The Bush” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Salsoul Orchestra

The Salsoul Orchestra is the landmark ensemble featuring players who blended a beautiful sound from Philly-soul, Latin percussion and the new arrangement of dance music called Salsoul Disco. The story is well told as the tracks from their 1975 disco album play out the message and groove. “Don’t Beat Around The Bush” is a piece from their 1976 album “Nice ‘N Nasty” which was produced, arranged and conducted by Vincent Montana Jr. It is another slick piece of music which brings to mind the disco touch dancing period. There is a similarity in each of this orchestra’s numbers although each stands out on its own with the sexy innuendos and alluring Latin percussion. The pounding drums in “Don’t Beat Around The Bush” are like a powerful tribal edge that is infectious.

I have taken the album version of “Don’t Beat Around The Bush” and placed the drums into a new take in this ReStructure Mix. More edits and loops give a more open feel to the groove. It is a salute to The Salsoul Orchestra and the master Mr. Vincent Montana Jr.

REISSUE: “Resorts International” by The Salsoul Orchestra – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The Salsoul Orchestra is the disco band from the mid-70s which fused Philly-soul, funk and Latin music to create a whole new chapter in dance music. The 1978 album “How High” is the album which gives off the mature sound of disco music of the time. “Resorts International” is a track from the project produced and co-written by Bunny Sigler and features The Sweethearts of Sigma serenading a locale where all is possible for relaxation and entertainment.

I have created a Disco Video Mix for “Resorts International” using the 1967-Technicolor film, “Hotel” starring Rod Taylor as the hotel manager. The drama occurring as they check in and out and the owner himself realizes that the future of his financially troubled hotel. Visuals of the building and some of the outside businesses are used to enhance the exciting sound of the disco track.

REISSUE: “Tale Of Three Cities” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Salsoul Orchetra

The Salsoul Orchestra is the movement in disco music which provided a transition from soul and funk into a phenomenon. Lead by Vincent Montana Jr. and many of the players from Philly recordings (Bobby Eli, Ron Baker, Norman Harris, Earl Young, and John Davis) this studio session became the mark of a new era of dance floor excitement. “Tale Of Three Cities” is a piece from the first album released in 1975 and plays out much like jazz slowing over a disco beat. One of the big moments for the ensemble and disco music to lure those who were searching for something to look and feel up to.

I have taken the original album version of “Tale Of Three Cities” and re-worked a ReStructure Mix to place this funky arrangement in a new form. Lots of drum pattern effects and lasting strings. It is a beautiful number which deserves another opportunity to play out what good rhythms sound like.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to D.C. LaRue – thank you David for all of your talent and work…and for requesting this quiet giant for remixing.

REISSUE:“Street Sense” by The Salsoul Orchestra – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Tom Moulton and Thor Baldursson created the ninth album from The Salsoul Orchestra – a disco orchestra formed in 1974 with Vincent Montana Jr. – “Street Sense”.

The studio orchestra was based on the Philly sound infusing soul, funk and Latin rhythms – it helped to formulate a sound for disco music which became a big part of the disco movement of the 70s.

I have taken the title track form the LP and blended it in this Disco Video Mix along with the 2002 adaption of the 1975 Broadway production of “Chicago” – the film stars Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gene and Queen Latifah.

I have used parts and pieces of the dramatic dance segments to bring the disco track alive with the Broadway-like feel that it possesses.

REISSUE: "How High" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Salsoul Orchestra

The Salsoul Orchestra is disco music's soulful-symphony ensemble. The concept began with their first album in 1979 under the direction of Vincent Montana, Jr. and lead to a whole new dimension in disco music based on the Philadelphia sound.

Their project "How High" from 1978 contained the title track which also features the vocals of Cognac. It was an instant hit in clubs and now is one of the most recognizable tracks from The Salsoul Orchestra.

I have taken the 12" single onto a ReStructure trip using the ominous and rolling bass line as the foundation for a whole new version. This one takes several turns and gives the song a new meaning all together.

Thanks to all the die-hard disco fans and the new jocks who continue to discover and keep this music on the turntables and clubs!

REISSUE: "Cerrone's Paradise" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cerrone

Cerrone released his follow up LP to "Love In 'C' Minor" in 1977- "Cerrone's Paradise". This project placed a perspective on Euro-disco. Dance floors everywhere had discovered the sensuality and excitement that this music created. It was an instant connection.

"Cerrone's Paradise" is a disco session of bass, horn, strings and an angelic-like chorus clamouring for the sounds of ecstasy. It is truly one of disco's finest moments.

I have taken the intro and placed it over a reworked intro. Chopped and spliced a brand new scene for the energy and ecstasy.

The man himself, Mr. Jean Marc Cerrone gets this one.

REISSUE: “Touch Me Baby” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Ultimate

Ultimate is one of the early Euro-disco projects to become main stream in disco music during the peak. Produced by Juliano Salerni and Bruce Weeden with the sound that Casablanca Records artist Alec R. Costandinos had made a new sound along with music by Cerrone. It was take on the Barry White and Philly sound which was full of funky bass and drums with an orchestral accompaniment. The European disco sound that Boris Midney enhanced around the same time with his own experimental take with USA European Connection. “Touch Me Baby” is a piece from the “Ultimate” album – that was conceived by Marc Paul Simon and is the true essence of that disco sound that was becoming the standard during the following years. The production on Ultimate is one the most driven outlines in disco of the time and brings a soulful rhythm into a disco arena.

I have taken the piece “Touch Me Baby” from the album Medley-“Love Is The Ultimate” and reworked its magic into a new ReStructure Mix. New percussion is added and the arrangement is rewired to give the song a new vitality.

REISSUE: "The Grand Tour" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Grand Tour

An early project by Willi Morrison and Ian Guenther who were also responsible for THP Orchestra, Sticky Fingers, Ramming Speed, American Fade and a few Hazell Dean productions. These guys spared no talent when it came to creating an energy along with a musical arrangement. This LP is comprised of a light and airy feel with material along the same. "The Grand Tour" has a feel reminiscent of a Voyage song - since it's lyrics speak of traveling with a great uplifting spirit. I have taken the original production and created a new extended intro and used the original vocal arrangement with a few phasing effects to create a flowing energy.

REISSUE: "Romeo & Juliet" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Alec R. Costandinos and the Syncophonic Orchestra

Euro-disco at it's greatest! This fabulous orchestrated disco feast has always captured the ears and feet of those distinctive listeners and it still lingers on. The placement of Act I and Act II are the ReStructure of this one. A few effects were added to create a new stage!

REISSUE: “Bad Connection” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Strange Affair

Strange Affair is an Italo-disco project from producer Giuliano Salerni – who also gave us Ultimate’s “Love Is The Ultimate”, Hi Gloss and Bonnie Boyer. His work was another European disco venture which played out with full orchestrations and funky rhythm and bass guitars. “Bad Connection” is from the first medley on the project where a gay man dials in error a lonely woman who is willing to have company during a lonely hour. It is quite camp and plays out with the vocals of Brenda Hill, Carolyn Mitchell, Joy Lober and Vaneese Thomas in a camp-like chorus. The ladies also created the vocals for Ritchie Rome’s African Suite project.

I have taken the album version of “Bad Connection” and reworked the strings and bass into a new ReStructure Mix. The longer into showcases the funky guitars and the fade uses those booming bass drums to exit this sexy scene.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/27/21) “The Roof Is On Fire” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Westbam

Westbam is Maximilian Lenz. An electronic house production which took over following the New Beat period of the late 80’s. Many of Westbam’s releases are cult pieces with followers who delve deep into their use of sampled tracks or borrowed themes and bringing them alive in a whole new way. “The Roof Is On Fire” is his 1990 release which takes the riff from 2 Live Crew’s rap track by the same name. This time around the track literally is on fire as the energy builds and builds into stomping crescendo. It is one of the club favorites from the underground sound which brought to life the dance essence of the end of the 80’s and early 90’s.

I have taken the 12” version of “The Roof Is On Fire” and re-lit the energy for this ReStructure Mix. I have taken snippets from the 2 Live Crew original as well as another hot disco classic to get the mood smokin’.

ReStructure Mix Update (9/26/21) “Love X Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – George Benson

George Benson is a talented guitarist, composer and vocalist in modern jazz music. His work always relayed a dedication to his work and the sound he built project after project. His 1980 album titled “Give Me The Night” was produced by Mr. Quincy Jones and together they create a fusion of soul and jazz which takes on the 80’s for a challenge. “Love X Love” is a track which gives both an opportunity to give their best and combine the sound in a soulful manner. The song has the Jones production and arrangement from start to end yet George still stands in front with his vocal and finger play. Perhaps one of the best cuts from the project and one which makes one want to turn down the lights and grab a bottle of wine with that special someone.

I have taken the album version of “Love X Love” and added a few new rhythm elements to give a new foundation for this ReStructure Mix. A new drum track plays out over this love song and the Afro-Cuban percussion adds a new form to it.

REISSUE: "Love Waves" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Alton McClain & Destiny

Alton McClain & Destiny are Alton McClain, D’Marie Warren and Robyrda Stiger and were formed in 1978 with their first disco hit, “It Must be Love”. Produced by Frank Wilson (Diana Ross, The Temptations, FourTops) and John Footman (wrote Cheryl Lynn’s “Star Love”). The trio brought the feel of soul to the sound of disco for the period and from the second album several dance floor hits including: “99 ½”, “I Don’t Wanna Be With Nobody Else” and “Love Waves”. The sound of these ladies is like a river of soft flowing water onto a green garden.

“Love Waves” has always been one of my favorite tracks from the project and is perfect for both early evening dance floors and after hours segments. I have taken the album version and have given the song a new ReStructure Mix adding more of a fantasy and sensual feel with a new elongated intro and some flowing effects throughout the new arrangement.

Dedicated to the “Disco-Diva” supporters who long for that sweet sound of soul and the rhythm of disco!

REISSUE: "Take My Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Nancy Wilson

Nancy Wilson is the jazz singer who recorded more than 70 albums and holds three Grammy Awards to her success. In 1980 Nancy recorded her album "Take My Love" - produced by Larry Farrow and Carolyn Johns. The project gave Nancy an opportunity to grace a wonderful disco track - "Take My Love".

This album contains Nancy's style in her jazz style and also soul/disco genre. It was quite exciting to hear this iconic voice again to a beautiful and lyrical dance number.

I have taken the album version of "Take My Love" and have given it a ReStructure Mix to strike up that Nancy feeling again with that touch of soul. It is a sound that began to emerge at the end of the disco boom as tracks like "Sweet Talk" by Robin Beck began to make club charts.

REISSUE: “Loveline” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Shawne Jackson

Shawne Jackson is a Canadian singer and songwriter whose career began at the age of 15 and eventually leads her into the early 80’s. She recorded the track “Loveline” (which was also recorded by Tavares in 1981). The production is executed by Willi Morrison and Ian Guenther of THP Productions and also responsible for Duncan Sisters, THP Orchestra, Skatt Bros, and American Fade. The slick electronic keyboards help this rekindling a nice update and some nice riffs make it a transition for the big disco productions of their past a wonderful sound. Shawne executes the sexy vocal in her own unique sound and make the sound her own on more than one way. It is a nice shift from the hardcore disco of the late 70’s into a funk driven 80’s.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Loveline” for a new version in this ReStructure Mix. It features a use of both vocal and instrumentation that it pieced into several new breaks a funk foundation for Shawne.

REISSUE: “Take My Love” Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Melba Moore

Melba Moore has always been one of the artists of the disco era with a great deal of talent and a well-developed stature. Her venture into disco music during the mid-70s brought a voice into club dance floors filling a soulful space. “What A Woman Needs” is Melba’s project from 1981 and features “Take My Love” – produced by Lawrence Jones. The track received airplay on radio and also many electronic funk playlists. With Melba’s powerful vocal this track was always a favorite and made my playlist for months.

I have taken the album version which features a mix from Michael Barbiero and Morri Brown to recreate a new ReStructure Mix experience. A few areas where new breaks and stripping down of the funk elements are the center stage here – as well as Melba’s performance which takes a hold from the start and satisfies the neediest lover and dancer.

REISSUE: “Love Come Down” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Evelyn King

Evelyn “Champagne” King is one of the divas from the disco era who made the dance floor feels like home. Her big 1977 disco hit “Shame” was a union of soul and disco which made a big mark during its release and in time. Her career throughout the early 80’s gave the new disco-funk more of her fantastic vocal performances. “Love Come Down” is from her 1982 album, “Get Loose” and produced by Kashif and Morrie Brown. This love song is one of the greatest pieces from Ms. King and the production lives up to the old school tradition. It was one of the biggest dance floor packers for me and I can only remember extending this one over and over. The magic of the sound which Kashif created at this time was a frame for King’s talent.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental to recreate a new ReStructure Mix with some edits and looping to bring those deep grooves to life again. This revisit makes the breaks more of the opulence of what disco-funk is.

REISSUE: “Forbidden Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Madleen Kane

Produced by Lana Sebastian, Michaele and Paul Sebastian - this classic disco track mixed by Jim Burgess is brought to life again with more "fire" than originally intended.

I have taken the piano track and looped them with more of the percussion and energy from the 12" mix.

Madleen Kane scored high with this follow up to "Rough Diamond" LP - it is a perfectly recorded LP and also features, "Cheri" and "Secret Love Affair" making it perfect for your Valentine's Day - no matter what kind of love you hold in your life.

Dedicated to Paul Parker and Madleen Kane.

REISSUE: “American Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Astaire

Astaire is a high energy/disco project from John Davies and Nigel Stock – and presented on the UK label Passion Records. One of the long standing groups from the 80’s that delivered a consistent stream of dance floor hits that now are classics. “American Love” is their 1994 release which is a cover of the Rose Laurens 1986 song. It is a tough call to take on a club classic which became a hit overnight yet Astaire takes a mild over-dub of the track using the identical arrangement with only a small touch of a house rhythm guiding it. The new vocal is a nice reference to the original without Rose Lauren’s unique breathy sound. This one is great in that it brings the classic back into light with some nice beams.

I have taken the 12” of Astaire’s cover of “American Love:” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix with a focus on the beats and rhythm. A new percussion and beat track is added to give it a new energy and pieces of the song are placed into a new story.

REISSUE: "You Take My Heart Away" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Gillian Lane

Gillian Lane is a Canadian disco artist who helped to fill the gap between disco and high energy during the early 80s. Along with producers Gino D’ Orazio and Tony Bentivegna who also created tracks by Suzy Q, Nightlife Unlimited. Motion, Sweet Heat, Stephanie Wells and Ladies Choice – this was the melodic and pulsating sound of a new disco energy.

A new ReStructure Mix of “You Take My Heart Away” is extended and also teasing in the disco deejay fashion of spoon feeding little by little. It is one of my favorite Canadian disco tracks from this fabulous era and has that haunting sound of a love song with power, passion and a driving underground energy.
