Rhetta Hughes is funk/soul singer who began a recording career in 1965 and brought this talented lady into the dance arena of the early 80’s. Two big singles were to her credit and a nice staying power it was – “Angel Man (G.A.)” and “Crisis” – both produced by Kenny Lehman (Lemon). Both tracks pulled in some wonderful riffs and dance elements and help to bring the soul diva onto the dance floors of 1983. “Crisis” is just that – a woman fighting to keep her troubled relationship from breaking to the last piece of love and care. It can all be heard in Rhetta’s vocals once again where she makes the point several times and then brings it home.
I have taken the 12” vocal and dub of “Crisis” together for this ReStructure Mix and worked a new angle for this one. A new focus on intro and also the breaks where all of the wind down is a waste of time.
