Donna Summer is one of the icons of music. Her career was one of the most exciting in the music industry that her talent was always underestimated. Her first project, “Love To Love You Baby” was a sexy innuendo and gave her the title “The First Lady of Love” – one that she would have to live with and one she refused to fade away with when the disco era began to change. Her initial vocals in the sexy track “Love To Love You Baby” many regarded less as talent and more of a voice which was not promising – except for those growing fans who listened closely and could her range and power in even the simplest tracks. “Nightlife” is from Donna’s 1980 album titled “The Wanderer” where she claimed her “Disco Queen” prize and wanted to continue her career as an artist wherever change was in her and necessary. The entire project was aimed at stripping away the disco production and giving her a rawer environment to work her magic. This one has the feel of the disco scene as it is titled yet we do have the opportunity to her that powerful gift in a whole new way.
I have taken the album version of “Nightlife” was worked into a new ReStructure Mix with the intent of extending as well as spotlighting. New drum tracks beat the energy into a new purpose and several new breaks give it that disco remix feel.
