Evelyn “Champagne” King is one of the divas from the disco era who made the dance floor feels like home. Her big 1977 disco hit “Shame” was a union of soul and disco which made a big mark during its release and in time. Her career throughout the early 80’s gave the new disco-funk more of her fantastic vocal performances. “Love Come Down” is from her 1982 album, “Get Loose” and produced by Kashif and Morrie Brown. This love song is one of the greatest pieces from Ms. King and the production lives up to the old school tradition. It was one of the biggest dance floor packers for me and I can only remember extending this one over and over. The magic of the sound which Kashif created at this time was a frame for King’s talent.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental to recreate a new ReStructure Mix with some edits and looping to bring those deep grooves to life again. This revisit makes the breaks more of the opulence of what disco-funk is.
