Ullanda McCullough is a voice that you have heard in dance tracks by Michael Zager Band, Thelma Houston, Joel Diamond, Quincy Jones and Rice and Beans Orchestra. Her debut solo album released in 1979 titled “Love Zone” gave this lady an opportunity to work her talented voice throughout several big disco numbers. The project was produced by Bernard Drayton, George McMahon and Leon Pendarvis. This package included a cover of the soul classic “Want Ads” from Honey Cone originally released in 1971.This polish disco version is a drama in a new way with the full arrangement bringing this song to life again. It is Ullanda’s step out into the spotlight and it was an exciting moment to hear this talent grow.
I have taken the 12” version of Ullanda’s “Want Ads” and redelivered it in a new package for this ReStructure Mix. Snippets of the original are placed for memorable moments and more of the track in reworked into a new play.
