Charlie is an Italo-disco project from Giorgio Stefani and Maurice Cavalieri – released in 1983. This innovative “beats” track combined the sound of Italian electronic dance music which was evolving in the early 80’s creating an audience who were faithful and always waiting for the next release from the many talented musicians and producers who were trying out many formulas in their creative forces. “Spacer Woman” features a ghostly haunting vocal which introduces her being as an alien intelligence who means no harm – only to deliver love and peace. The beat wrap around the many keyboard riffs in a street-beat box manner that is infectious and somehow new to the pulsating rhythm. One of the big Italian disco surprises of the time and most likely is around for those new connoisseurs of this sound.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Spacer Woman” and painted a new edge to this ReStructure Mix. The Kraftwerk sounding workings are accented with a few familiar pieces of their work and make this voyage to earth more mysterious.
