Producer, arranged and conductor by Marcus Barone in 1979 - this was one of the first in experimental tracks on the "dark-side." It is a fantasy apparently brought to life with rhythms and a distinctive chant. The first time at hearing this track may pull you in several directions. It was intended that way I am sure.
Ray "Pinky" Velazquez is noted as the "disco consultant" on this track - he added the right flair for a early trance-like experience.
"Savage Lover" is a fierce cut. I have always been hypnotized by it's simplicity and always reminded that the arrangement in a track this this makes it effective. It presents a stage for the vocals, chants, percussion and synthesizers.
It was a bit of a stand still trying to figure out what to do with this number. Making it more abstract was all I could think of. And with the looping and fading it works a whole new feeling into the song.
Dedicated to the all-night dancers of the past who may have found themselves stomping to this number early on a weekend morning.
