"Smack Dab In The Middle" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Janice McClain

• "Smack Dab In The Middle" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Janice McClain

“Smack Dab In The Middle” by Janice McClain is one of the most outstanding dance and vocal tracks ever.

What do you do when you are the daughter of Alton McClain (the lead of Alton McClain and Destiny)? You take to the studio at the age of 16 and record the most memorable standard in disco music. And with a fabulous mix by Mr. Larry Levan how can you lose – you hit it “right in the middle”!

Produced by Milt Tennant and Thom Page this powerhouse track always takes me to a higher level of disco worship. Janice’s works this song as if she were the Billy Holliday of disco music. Working the horns, strings and Levan’s use of pounding bass beats and arrangement this one is one that is hard to forget.

I was attempting to create a ReStructure that is a re-edit – the original just cannot be topped. And as all of my work – it is simply another version to groove to. More looping and placing some of the wonderful strings and horns all over the place. And also taking that line, “When your hot, your hot” as a disco chant.

Applause, Ms. McClain!
