REISSUE: "Zulu" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Quick
The Quick is Colin Campsie and George McFarlane - their contribution to the late 70's was their big track, "Sharks Are Cool, Jets Are Hot". It was a moment to realize the electronic disco age was taking over dance floors.
"Zulu" is from their 1982 LP "Fascinating Rhythm" and is a deep pulsating track with all the percussion on "thumpus" any dance floor could handle. The odd play on words (as usual) portray the song as a rhythm and rhyme segue to the African tribe and their motion.
I have ReStructured the track and brought it deeper into the zone of tribal beats and loop play - a hand clap guides most of the new arrangement.
This mix is dedicated to Bob T. - thank you for requesting this stomper!
