ReStructure Mix Update (6/2/19) “Just Wanna Make You Dance” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The J.B.’s

The J.B.’s are the musicians who backed The King Of Soul – Mr. James Brown. The band recorded albums under their name from 1971 through 1999. The soulful horns and funky wah-wah guitars created a style of dance music which helped move onto further chapters including disco in the late 70’s. It was all music tailored to move the hips. “Just Wanna Make You Dance” comes from their 1979 album “Groove Machine” and is the completeness of soul becoming the interpretive disco sound for the mid and latter parts of the 70’s. This bouncy piece has a sassy chorus reminding the crowd to keep moving with the music and try to refrain from the sexy lure of dance floors of the time. It was one of the big hits in my club and always reminded me of the Stargard’s of the 70’s and the Klymaxx’s of the 80’s.

I have taken the album version of “Just Wanna Make You Dance” and added a line from “The King” himself to bring this ReStructure Mix the homage to the crossover of soul to disco music. The drums and bongos are sliced and reassembled as more than breaks and are attempted to bring the party back again.
