ReStructure Mix Update (10/4/22): “Just How Sweet Is Your Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Rhyze

Rhyze is a disco/soul group from New Jersey from the early 80’s produced by Paul Kyser. The ensemble included "Jojo" McKnight, Charles Holmes, Ellsworth Anderson, Kenneth Hicks, Kevin Barbee, Richard Menter, Roscoe Taylor and Vince Jackson. “Just How Sweet Is Your Love” is their single from 1980 which became one of the underground club hits almost immediately as the shift from disco to New York funk hit. This piece makes a simple statement and the real sound is the vocal edge of this arrangement. The soulful feel gives their music more of a standing especially when more and more of the New York disco began to slowly become less and less produced. This piece remains a club classic to those who understand the music or experienced it themselves.

I have taken the 12” version of “Just How Sweet Is Your Love” and rolled up this piece with some latter elements for this ReStructure Mix. A realignment of the original production are the new properties as well as pieces from a cover of this song using the chorus melody – “Baby, I Need Your Love” by Lee Marrow featuring Ce Ce Houston from 1993. A clever drift for Marrow to bring back these club classics in his own way.
