ReStructure Mix Update (1/10/26): ”We Can Make It” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tracie Daves

Tracie Daves is a house music artist who released her single “We Can Make It” in 1992 - T.A.T. Productions. This uplisting anthem is one of the early 90s hidden treasures which outlines the elements of house music on the Chicago style and deep instrumentation. Tracie is exuberant in her performance and gives off a powerful message which lifts anyone from their doldrums immediately with her positive lyrics and sweet melodic segments. Many of the house music tracks during the early 90s were lost amongst the many releases and this is one that always listed my dance floor as one of those pieces.

I have taken the 12” versions of “We Can Make It” and reemphasized  this positive track in a new ReStructure Mix. Taking the notable riffs from each mix and layering them for a new dance experience and also a stage for this wonderful vocal and message.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/8/26): ”Mercury Rising” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Pointer Sisters

Pointer Sisters made the 80s a festive period to dance in. Their music grew from the late 70s onto the early 90s with hit after hit pulling dancers like magnets to the dance floor. “Mercury Rising” is from their 1986 project, “Hot Together” - produced by Richard Perry. This is their sensual approach with Ruth Pointer singing lead and in a delivery which always brought to mind a Marvin Gaye edge. Sexy and full of endurance this one starts with native drums calling the carnal excitement of lovers exploring the rising temperatures of intimacy. It has been a long time since this aural anthem has been approached by the trio and it is carried out in full form here.

I have taken the 12’ vocal and instrumental of “Mercury Rising” and turned up the temperature again for this ReStructure Mix. Using a new rhythm track for the intro and closing to give the sensual feel more of a “pant” than a “breath”.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/7/26): ”Love Is A Healer” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Donna Summer

Donna Summer took the club sound of the 90s and made it a canvas for her voice and creativity. “Love Is A Healer” is from her 1999 project titled “VH1 Presents Live & More Encore!” and was produced by Nathan DiGesare. The track opens with a mystical feel as Gregorian chants open the vault to the secret Donna is releasing here. This one has a pounding drum rhythmic edge from the dance floors of the 90s and makes Donna sound comfortable again leading the dancers onto a journey once again. It is one of her vocal majestic performances where she is able to relay the power that her voice gives and the soul that her music always contained.

I have taken the 12” club versions of “Love Is A Healer” and used segments of a few of the mixes to recreate this ReStructure Mix. The album version is more of the focus with pieces of the remixes working around the new arrangement.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/6/26): ”Is This Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Alison Moyet

Alison Moyet is the voice during the early 80’s bringing a human emotion to electronic music. He venture with producer Vince Clarke and their project Yazoo (“Situation”, “Don’t Go”) made a lasting mark throughout the period and changed the direction for synth-pop music. Alison eventually went solo as her voice projected an effective emotion and melancholy sound to love songs produced in the dance arena. “Is This Love” is from her 1987 project titled “Raindancing” - produced by Jess Bailey. This number is one of her brilliant vocal performances where she delivers a message of heart with poetic justice. This is a smooth contemporary approach to dance music and works much more with Alison giving us her best.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Is This Love” and reapplied the direction for this ReStructure Mix. A rearrangement of the orchestral strings and rhythm are a move to give the song more time to capture your senses.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/5/26): ”Body Free” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Watson Beasley

Watson Beasley are Alfred Beasley and Gina Watson - a duo who were introduced in 1980 in their self-titled project - produced by Peter Alves (Witch Queen, Toulouse, Gotham Flasher). During the disco era it is musically noted that much of the progressive dance music was being produced in Canada and featured Canadian artists such as Gino Soccio, Peter DiMilo, Jerry Cucuzella, etc.) This project from Watson Beasley outlines the shift from mid-70s disco into a new fusion of the coming 80s and that disco edge. “Body Free” is a track from the initial album and is another one of the prime examples of vocal power over production and arrangement. The harmony of Alfred and Gina are taken on the soulful range of the 70s taken into a complete freedom and new 80s dance sound. It is laid out from the first track to the last. This duo feeds off of each line and works in the end with a diverse outcome. “Body Free” has always been one of my favorites, and not the only one from this project and now gives me the appreciation of dance music in general.

I have taken the album version of “Body Free” and used the same imagination as a 4 AM dance segment for this ReStructure Mix. With the solution the song suggests where a dance can help begin a fix for heartache I have worked to a more spatial and dub-like feel for this wonderful piece.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/3/26): ”Living On My Own” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury released his solo album titled “Mr. Bad Guy” in 1985 and featured his anthem track “Living On My Own”. This hard striking dance number is an 80’s dance palace dream as it contains all of the energy and outline that a crowded dance floor would welcome. Freddie relays his loneliness and strength to keep his retreat for a good purpose rather than give up on life. It is one of the periods of Mercury’s career where he wanted to make people dance and celebrate and this track is accordingly sufficient. One of the 80s singles which would outline one of my power sets and still brings to mind the immediate response to this great song.

I have taken the 12” version of “Living On My Own” and reworked the anthem into a new ReStructure Mix. There are several new segments using the bass pieces in new edits and placement as well as a fade out to oblivion.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/2/26): ”Fever” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Madonna

Madonna is the 80s diva in long form. Much of her success relied on her creativity and need to attempt a new venture. “Fever” is her cover of the standard song from her 1992 project titled “Erotica”. A deep house arrangement takes the song into Madonna’s playland where rhythm and a groove are the path. Produced by Shep Pettibone and Madonna this pumping dance track brings to life the song in a way that milk brings cereal to life. One of the pieces that fit into the period for Madonna where she brought many sexual fantasies public and made the world her voyeur.

I have taken the double 12” and its various versions of Madonna’s “Fever” to repaint the song for this ReStructure Mix. A new tale on each segment of the song is outlined using the segments which make each original mix go boom.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/1/26): ”Drama” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Club 69

Club 69 is a techno/electronic dance project from Peter Rauhofer from the early 90’s. His 1997 single “Drama” features Kim Cooper on “drama” and his classic style of gothic-like techno sound. The piece outlines a woman who has reached her point with all of the unnecessary moments in life where we are taken from our spotlight. It is one of the big club party anthems of its time and still rings true to those who understand what the dance floor was all about during that period. A venture into a style of house and techno music which is void of any rope to pull yourself out. Get lost in it and feel the “drama”.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Drama” and rewired the play for a whole new ReStructure Mix. Using clips from the 1962 film “Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?” with Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Using the “drama” for this stage.
