2U is an Italian disco project from producer Severo Lombardoni and “Take My Breath Away” is their second single from 1991 and a cover of the song by Berlin (originally produced by Giorgio Moroder) from the film “Top Gun”. The two versions executed on the 12” release are a retro-disco take using the percussion from Grace Jones’ “La Vie En Rose” and the second utilizing an 80s hip hop rhythm track. The beautiful vocals are provided by Dora Carofiglio (Novecento, Valerie Dore, The New Company, Susanne Meals) which give another haunting take on the song. It is another one of the Italian cover bands which keep the pop-world on the dance floor in a style of their own.
I have taken the 12” versions of 2U’s “Take My Breath Away” and laid them out again for this new ReStructure Mix. I have used both versions and edited them into a new arrangement with new breaks and drop outs.
