REISSUE: "Romance '83" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Irene Cara

REISSUE: "Romance '83" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Irene Cara Irene Cara is known for her big disco hits “Fame” in 1980 and also for “What A Feelin’’ (Flashdance)” from 1983 - many may also remember her in the role of ‘Sparkle’ in the film “Sparkle” from 1976. Her second album in 1983 is produced by disco’s electronic man, Mr. Giorgio Moroder. It was a transition for Moroder from his magic days of creating the sound of electronic disco to moving into the 80s dance trends. “Romance ‘83” is from the album “What A Feelin’” and was never featured as a single or given much attention - however, I always had a fondness for the lyrical sound of the track and the bouncy 80s synth edge which Moroder created with it. Quite simple but nice for a sample of Irene’s soft and beautiful voice. I have taken the album version (3:56) and created a new ReStructure Mix playing with the elements and also adding one of Moroder’s classic synth-loops from a well-known hit. It is a whole new experience and ready to bring us back to the simple 80s dance floor

REISSUE: “Make It Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Debbie Jacobs

REISSUE: “Make It Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Debbie Jacobs Debbie Jacobs is one of disco music’s powerful artists. Her voice is a force of energy and beauty among the bass and roaring disco arrangements. Her second album “High On Your Love” from 1980 is another production from Paul Sabu and plays out as the perfect follow up to her “Undercover Lover” from 1979. “Make It Love” is one of the tracks which always stood out to me since it promotes the arrangement of a light rock edge keyboards and guitars in a funky disco arrangement. The riff is an opportunity to feel Debbie’s contagious delivery which always made her music a part of disco dance floors. I have taken the album version of “Make It Love” and recreated a new ReStructure Mix to give these one another turn. More swing beats are added to brings it more of the pulse of the street beat sound

REISSUE: “I'm Starting Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Grace Kennedy

REISSUE: “I'm Starting Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Grace Kennedy Grace Kennedy is a disco singer who ‘started’ her disco career in the 1980 musical/sci-fi film, “The Apple” where she performs and sings her single “Desire”. He career brought three albums to the disco arena - each produced by Phillip Swern who also produced Polly Brown, Inner City Express, and Patti Boulaye. Grace’s 1981 single “I’m Starting Again” is from her album by the same name. It was a big hit in many clubs still clamoring for the classic disco chanteuse songs. It is one of my favorite and also one of the songs co-written by Thor Baldursson who worked with many disco projects from the Munich recordings in the late 70s and also First Choice. I have taken the 12” single of “I’m Starting Again” and created a new ReStructure Mix to give the song an alternative version - and also play with some of the fantastic keyboard and vocal elements. This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Jerry Joseph Arko from Facebook with thanks to his inspiring look back and forward of the great music which has given so many happiness, freedom and dancing feet!

REISSUE: “Green Light" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cory Daye

REISSUE: “Green Light" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cory Daye Cory Daye is one of the female vocalists in disco music which is familiar in many aspects - not only from the big dance hit “Cherchez La Femme” from 1976 (with Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band) but also her sweet and beautiful delivery. The 1979 solo-album “Cory and Me” contained many dance floor favorites including “Pow Wow”, “Keep The Ball Rollin’” and “Green Light” - produced by Sandy Linzer. I have taken the 12” version of “Green Light” and created a ReStructure Mix to not only salute this fabulous diva of song - but also the period of disco music where big-band returns with a new twist. The new ReStructure Mix has an extended intro - some new breaks and a hoppin’ beat to keep the light “green” for dancing. This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Ms. Cory Daye - thank you for sharing your beautiful talent with the dancers all over the world.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/8/21) “Tell It To My Heart” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Taylor Dayne

ReStructure Mix Update (4/8/21) “Tell It To My Heart” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Taylor Dayne

Taylor Dayne is a vocalist who took the 80’s dance floor hostage with her freestyle hits “Tell It To My Heart” and “Prove Your Love” from 1987. The tracks produced by Ric Wake were the pop-dance sensation with a blend of hard street beats and Miami freestyle along with Taylor’s powerful vocals. An appropriate close of the 80’s with the power and pop presences which brought dance music another crown for its long run. “Tell It To My Heart” remains a classic among the 80’s dance scene and still gives way to a nice stage for Ms. Dayne’s unforgiving vocals. One of her early recordings as Les Lee was a track titled “I’m The One You Want” from 1985 gave Taylor the attention she needed to become the pop icon that followed.

I have taken the 12” vocal, dub and accapella of “Tell It To My Heart:” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix to mark this period of stompin’ dance music. It plays out with more breaks and some effects to light those feet back on fire.

REISSUE: “Raised By Snakes” by Telex – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Telex is an electronic disco pop group formed in 1978 with Dan Lacksman, Marc Moulin and Michel Moers. Music from Telex has always been unique and a force of strange themes and satisfying synth notes. A favorite of mine since their first club hit, “Moskow Discow”. Their 1984 album “Wonderful World” featured the single “Raised By Snakes” which is a jittery and moody alternative 80s dance track. It is the focus of this Disco Video Mix and helps to describe the band for newcomers very well and remind long time followers of their creative edge.

I have taken the 1973 horror film “Ssssss” into the arena for this Disco Video Mix for obvious reasons – it plays out not only as a theme but the excitement of the lyrics and mood.

The film was directed by Bernard L. Kowalski

REISSUE: "Su-Ku-Leu" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tantra

REISSUE: "Su-Ku-Leu" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tantra Tantra is a project from Celso Valli - produced by La Drogueria Di Drugolo and Quelli Del Castello - a group that has influenced and maintained the disco edge in the early 80s. "Hills Of Kat Mandu" is from the 1980 album titled "The Double Album" - and held as one of the greatest pieces of underground disco music from the late 70s. "Su-Ku-Leu" is a piece from this album and also released on an earlier trimmed down version of "The Double Album" titled "Mother Africa". I was a fan of this movement and played the short album version extending it via 2 pieces during the release. This ReStructure Mix extends and also adds some nee elements to create a stomping dance number. Dedicated to Celso Valli and his creation, Tantra

REISSUE: "It's More Fun To Compute" by Kraftwerk - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: "It's More Fun To Compute" by Kraftwerk - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera In 1977, Dean Koontz's novel "Demon Seed" was transformed into a sci-fi thriller starring Julie Christie and Fritz Weaver. The story of the supercomputer, Proteus IV taking over one of it's creators homes and using his wife to have a child of it's own made a mark in the history of computer styled horror flicks. Taking Kraftwerk's progressive synthesizer and keyboard work into a Video Mix gives their track, "It's More Fun To Compute" an opportunity to give the "Dancing Baby" some competition. Some pretty funky and progressive video and audio track here. Featuring scenes from "Demon Seed" - RENT THE DVD!!! Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: "Wonderful Medley" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Wonder Band

REISSUE: "Wonderful Medley" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Wonder Band The Wonder Band is a disco studio group produced by Armando Noriega, Isreal Sanchez, and Silvio Tancredi - all who worked on Simbora Orchestra ("Brazuca") and Lourett Russell Grant ("Hot To Trot"). "Wonderful Medley" is from their 1979 album "Stairway Of Love" which features disco covers of Led Zeppelin classic songs. This was a great production with lots of the sounds which made disco fun to move to at the end of the 70s. I have ReStructured the side long medley using more of the funky pieces I loved very much. Another journey has begun!

REISSUE: "You're My Magician" by Lime - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: "You're My Magician" by Lime - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Lime created a sound in disco music, which resonates even today as a distinctive and classic feel. There is a style in the sound that Denis and Denyse created with their talent. In 1981 their LP titled "Your Love" released a barrage of disco classics that are now known as the obscure early 80's disco sound. "You're My Magician" was another hit from the project and also contained the sound that set Lime aside and emphasized their unique sound. As bizarre as the song is I have paired it up with a film from 1978 starring Anthony Hopkins and Ann Margret - "Magic". The film was quite terrifying to many people - from the start after seeing the preview with glimpses of the puppet star! My partner, Ken came up with the concept and again I ran with it. It is a bit strange - but works interestingly well with the odd sound of the single. The film is directed by Richard Attenborough Featuring scenes from "Magic" - RENT THE DVD! REISSUE: "Goddess Of Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Phyllis Hyman

REISSUE: "Goddess Of Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Phyllis Hyman Phyllis Hyman is one of the promising voices of soul, disco, jazz and r&b during the mid-70s onto the 90s. Her vocal is recognizable unlike many today where the emotion is immediate and deeply moving. This style brought her success not only in the disco years of her career, but also the jazz and r&b movement with her years of the great Philadelphia International label along with producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. “Goddess Of Love” is a project from 1983 and is produced by Narada Michael Walden – who was turning many vocalists into dance floor sensations during the early 80s including Aretha Franklin, Sister Sledge and Stacy Latttisaw. The title track follows the theme of Phyllis taking her enchantment into a mythical jungle chanteuse – The Goddess of Love. The song works with her strong vocal play and the help of Narada’s creative production abilities. It is one that I would love to break in with an early evening set and always proved to start the dance floor moving to a new rhythm. I have taken the album version of “Goddess Of Love” and edited and reworked a whole new adventure with several acts and breakdowns. It was early to leave Phyllis’ fabulous vocal intact and add a few new elements to give this tribal feel beat a new reason to hail this great lady of song. A percussion riff from a high energy track by the same name (not the same song) is added for the mystique of those who are familiar and are ready to move to the next level.

REISSUE: “Try My Love On For Size” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sharon Redd

REISSUE: “Try My Love On For Size” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sharon Redd Sharon Redd is a force in dance music that always makes her an iconic figure. Her inception onto dance floors was the big disco hit “Love Insurance” as she sang lead for a session group titled Front Page. From there on her solo career took off in many winning directions. Her first project was produced by Willie Lester and Rodney Brown (Gayle Adams, Bobby Thurston) and was a step in the New York funk arena with the big dance floor piece “Can You Handle It”. However, much of Sharon’s talent is hidden within each project as it is here with “Try My Love On For Size”. It is a sexy and driving soul-disco track that transforms itself into a vocal stage for Redd who always flows with the music to stay on track. An alternative song for many adventurous jocks and one of my favorites from Sharon Redd. I have taken the album version of “Try My Love On For Size” and reworked the drum pieces into a new foundation to work this ReStructure Mix. There are a few new breaks and more of Sharon in cuts and loops.

REISSUE: “Keep In Touch (Body To Body)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Shades of Love

REISSUE: “Keep In Touch (Body To Body)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Shades of Love The Shades of Love are a disco session produced by Lonnie Johnson and Patrick Adams - also appearing are r&b vocalist Melissa Morgan on flawless lead vocals and Peggy Dodson in the backup ensemble. One of the best disco-funk tracks of 1982 this is the low-down of the transition from disco to funk in the early 80s. Done with sophistication and soul. It is also one of the guaranteed floor packers for me. This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Elizabeth Ruiz-Kessep - thank you for the request and the support!

REISSUE: "Handsome Man” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sparkle Tuhran

REISSUE: "Handsome Man” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sparkle Tuhran Sparkle Tuhran is a vocalist from an ensemble titled Friends who in 1979 recorded the project titled “Trans Am Dancing” – produced by Jean-Pierre Massiera, John Brown III and Mike Felder. The track “Handsome Man” is the dance piece which has become a story on its own when Larry Levan of Paradise Garage made it a classic by identifying its raw soulful vocal and unique striped instrumental. A genre which would later become “garage music” and then later “house” music following synth-pop. The song was immediately a big hit among those who following the disco wave returned to the underground club sound and created a style of music for the early 80s which is now a part of music history. I have taken the 12” version of “Handsome Man” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix which lends another ear to the progression dance music of the early 80s. It will always impact pop and dance music of the future since songs like this were spinning its own unknown legacy.
