ReStructure Mix Update (3/20/23): “The Desert Place” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Twins
The Twins are Ronny Schreinzer and Sven Dohrow – a German dance/synth-pop band who captured the early 80’s dance sound with a mixture of magnetic keyboard riffs and a new-wave edge on vocals and sound. “The Desert Place” from 1981 is their first big single from the project titled “Passion Factory” – produced by The Twins. This piece is heartbreak of yearning to where a past love takes us to a lonely place when it is over. The sound of this one is ominous and always makes the emotions stir along with the roof shaking. One of the great electronic dance pieces of its time and a start for this band that always seemed to get it right.
I have taken the 12” version of “The Desert Place” and reworked a patch work of the original for this ReStructure Mix. Many elements from the original are reedited and realigned to create a whole new experience.

ReStructure Mix Update (3/19/23): “The M.B.O. Theme” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Klein and M.B.O.
Klein and M.B.O. is Mario Boncaldo and Tony Carrasco – creating a sound for the dance floors in the early 80’s which centers between the street beat sound of New York combined with the Italo-disco synth-edge. Their first release in 1982 was titled “Dirty Talk” and played out with several electronic riffs which made their sound recognizable. Their album followed soon after the success of the single and featured more tracks in this laid back groove with a percolating layer of percussion riffs. “The M.B.O. Theme” is a keyboard piece opening up the project and uses the familiar guitar riffs and keyboards to playout an overture for their tracks.
I have taken the 12” version of “The M.B.O. Theme” and worked on a new ReStructure Mix to pay homage to Italo-disco and its courage create for dance floors and also to Boncaldo and Carrasco for their many contributions. This new remix offers the original segments with some new down-beats and drum effects to give it a new jolt.

ReStructure Mix Update (3/17/23): “Instant Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sylvia Love
Sylvia Love (Chantal Pierre) is a singer who after 2 singles from 1979 became an underground sensation. Her sensual vocals floated above her songs, “Instant Love” and “Extraterrestrial Lover” – produced by Trevor Vallis and arranged by Craig Pruess. These singles were a big part of the after-hours dance clubs which would offer dancing until the sun came up with variations of songs that would be dream-like states of dance conciseness. It was the area which I was drawn to immediately since more of these styles and productions were imaginative and heavily layered. The big track “Instant Love” is an introduction to disco-cosmic recordings since it practically takes off on its own with a galactic like edge.
II have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Instant Love” and lost myself to finding a new way of presenting this beauty in this ReStructure Mix. The rhythm guitar pieces and a few keyboard riffs are spotlighted on their own as new breaks and segments to remember this fabulous piece by.

ReStructure Mix Update (3/16/23): “Rhythm Of The Night” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – DeBarge
DeBarge is Bobby DeBarge, Bunny DeBarge, Chico DeBarge, El DeBarge, James DeBarge, Mark DeBarge and Randy DeBarge – a pop-r&b group featured on the Motown Records label from the early 80’s onto the 90’s. Their big dance hit “Rhythm Of The Night” from 1985 – produced by Richard Perry is one of their most memorable moments. This track highlights not only the excitement of the mid-80’s dance scene but also was a spotlight for the talented family. One of the big tracks from the time which also gave DeBarge notoriety in clubs and radio.
I have taken the 12” version of “Rhythm Of The Night” and laid out the funk edged pop track with a deeper bass beat for this ReStructure Mix. More of the original version is replenished to give this song a new facelift and applause to the talent of the DeBarge group.

ReStructure Mix Update (3/15/23): “Humanity” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Digital Emotion
Digital Emotion is an electronic disco project from The Netherlands – produced by Adams & Fleisner. The group is Cickie De Beer, Jean François Colombo and Myrna Balrak. Their music from the mid-80’s and onto the millennium brought a sound that was fully electronic yet powerful and infectious. “Humanity” is a single from their 1984 self-titled project and is another example of the outline you can find in this explosion of synths and roaring sci-fi effects. One of the high energy periods that the 80’s made a classic stamp with the energy projects as these brought to the dance floors.
I have taken the 12” version of “Humanity” and re-ignited the power over again in this ReStructure Mix in a new arrangement. More of the layering of keyboard grooves and the rolling sequencers take part in this new mix and it allows us again to take off from this planet to another.

ReStructure Mix Update (3/15/23): “Tonight’s The Night” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Kleeer
Kleeer is a disco/funk band featuring Eric Rohrbaugh, Isabelle Coles, Melanie Moore, Norman Durham, Paul Crutchfield, Richard Lee, Terry Dolphin, Woody Cunningham and Yvette Flowers. Their big disco hit “Keeep Your Body Workin'” from 1978 gave this ensemble a step into the success of a single which crossed over between disco and funk. The project titled “I Love To Dance” released in 1979 contained the track “Tonight's The Night (Good Time)” which resonates with the grooves which were aimed with a nightlife anthem in mind.
I have taken the album version of “Tonight's The Night (Good Time)” and reworked the track for this new ReStructure Mix. I have added a new beat track and also a new percussion riff to make this groove work all over again.
