Martin Stevens is a singer from Quebec whose 1979 project “Midnight Music” brought us the magic of his title cut which brings to light the music of the 70s in a nice midrange crescendo dance piece. Produced by Michel Daigle and the righty amount of electronic disco fantasy to make this one come alive over and over again as it plays out into the night.
I have taken the 12’ version of “Midnight Music” and rewired this beauty into a new ReStructure Mix. There is a familiar funk element from an old school classic by Lakeside added to secure the base of this piece to the dance floor.
This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Carla Monsalve who once again reminds me of a goddess from Xanadu and never lets us forget where the real music is coming from.

Teena Marie is a funk-master who transformed the female agenda on soul and dance music in the late 70s and early 80s. “Warm As Momma’s Oven” is from her 1994 project “Passion Play” and displays again her move into the 90’s with a swing/hip-hop feel and Teena’s illustrious vocal ability. This one is a great sound and tribute to her own style and talent.
I have taken the album version “Warm As Momma’s Oven” and reapplied the groove with some new beat and kick elements. This is a request from an old school expert, Mr. Ray Duran, Jr. – thank you Ray for always bringing the heat up where it needs some fire.

Nigel Olsson is a drummer from England who played for Elton John and Uriah Heep in the 70’s. His solo career gave him the opportunity to explore his star-side and vocal abilities. “Little Bit Of Soap” is Olsson’s cover of the 1961 song by The Jarmels and done in a pop-disco edge which follows closely of The Doobie Brothers’ “What A Fool Believes”. Nigel takes hold of this classic is his own style vocally and works it in an effective manner.
I have taken the 12” version of Nigel’s “Little Bit Of Soap” and washed out some of the more pop essence and dipped it into a more house feel in this ReStructure Mix. Some new keyboard riffs and percussion are added to bring the groove to the surface again.

Sharon Bryant is a vocalist who I know best as the voice behind the Atlantic Starr track “Circles” from 1982. Her solo project titled “Here I Am” from 1989 contained the funky-street beat track “Let Go” – produced by Denzil Foster. This slamming number is one of the funk regimes of the late 80’s and displayed all which was brought forth from years earlier. A great vocal and a tickled hard hitting beat that strikes the right chords for this divas fabulous performance.
I have taken the 12” versions from “Let Go” and rewired the funk and beats for this ReStructure Mix. More drop beats are added and also splicing the drum patterns into new breaks and segues.

Village People are Alexander Briley, David Hodo, Felipe Rose, Glenn Hughes, Randy Jones and Victor Willis. Produced by Jacques Morali and brought to the stage where liberation was excitement. The 70’s were brought to a whole new light with this group and their music. “Village People” is from their first self-titled project from 1977 – it is a touch of an anthem for their introduction and some of their energy and courage to make change in the music industry.
I have taken the album version of “Village People” and moved it into a ReStructure Mix forum by request of Steven Farias of Facebook. The layers of chanting are realigned with the bass patterns which make this track its own sound all together.

Stevie Wonder brought the earliest disco rhythms to soul music with his 1976 project “Songs In The Key Of Life”. His continuance throughout the 70s and into the 80s was also a successful venture for his talent. “Go Home” is from his 1985 project titled “In Circle Square” and again displayed his use of current musical elements to combine with his endless soulful reign of music. This one is an irresistible recording that plays out with his energy and staple sound of pure soul and funk.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Go Home” and re-played the motion here into a new ReStructure Mix. Using a touch of percussion to build an extra layer throughout the new remix.

Première Classe is an 80s synth-pop band lead by producer Zedix. Their 1982 single “Poupée Flash” was made a delicacy from Disconet in the US and a remix by Ed Smit. This fast moving French spoken piece utilizes the fast rolling synthesizer pieces and parts to help bridge the keyboard riffs and heavy drum breaks into a high energy/nu wave dance feel. One of the unique numbers of its time and one to celebrate as a contributor of innovation.
I have taken the 1972 film “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie” and rewired segments of the surreal drama into the fast paced mix. The group here who only want to dine together face many fantasies and realities that ultimately bring this film into its own style.

Passengers are Chuck Rolande, Elwanda Contreas, Gesualdo Arena and Kathleen Flynn – and this project produced by Celso Valli. “Girls Cost Money” is another one of the fantastic dance tracks from Passengers which embodies the nightlife and troubles financing it. The light and somewhat whimsical piece has that Valli touch which makes the disco edge fun and phasing into an original sound. A great dance number and some memorable riffs.
I have taken the album version of “Girls Cost Money” and reworked the debt into a new ReStructure Mix for this visit back to nightlife disco-world. A slight adjustment on the arrangement and some new twists to start a new dance floor.

Sylvia Mason is a voice which helped the 70’s to lure dancers into the disco lullaby sound. The sweet and powerful essence of pure disco is a woman igniting the energy with strength and vibrancy. Her performances in Voyage’s “Souvenirs” and “Let’s Fly Away” are the pinnacle of disco’s mold. “Hello Superduper Star” is from Sylvia’s 1979 solo-project and with the help of Voyage members Slim Pezin, Marc Chantereau and Pierre-Alain Dahan. The track exudes the power that disco music has always strived to create and makes high energy begin its embryonic stage in the early 80s.
I have taken the album version of “Hello Superduper Star” and used the existing elements to bring this ReStructure Mix a tribute to Voyage and Ms. Mason. There are a few new breaks along the way to make those who know the track a bit more imaginative in the movement of their feet!

Danuta (Danuta Lato) is a disco vocalist from Szufranowa, Poland who became well known following her dance hit, “Touch My Heart” from 1987. The following year a second single titled, “Whenever You Go” – produced by Gerd Rochelle became another memorable dance track. This time around the rhythm and execution of this piece was sweet and broken down by a thumping double beat and smooth keyboards. He vocal is light and airy as the sexy disco divas in the 70s promoted the club sound and goes well with the simple love message relayed here.
I have taken the 12” vocal of “Whenever You Go” and rewound the original beats with more pronunciation with some new percussion. This new ReStructure Mix also gives though lovely interludes the spotlight where they belong.

Martin King is a British singer who released the track “1,000 Ways” in 1987 produced by Werner Pensaert and Martin King. The track was a retro high energy piece for its time and respreads the magic that electronic music created in the early and mid-80. One of the beautiful flowing male vocal pieces of the time and also the keyboard structure which brings on the symphonic feel of disco music. A favorite of mine and a mover – even today!
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “1,000 Ways” and re-created a flowing ReStructure Mix with more of the wonderful instrumental segments. There are more of the percolating bongo fills and a step deeper into breaking the track into a new dance segment.
