ReStructure Mix Update (3/24/17) “Dancing At The Disco” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – L.A.X.

L.A.X. is one of the leading funk-disco projects to lead the 80s into a New York Funk frenzy thanks to projects from the Prelude Records label and success with groups like Change (“A Lover’s Holiday”). Produced by Ralph Benatar and Biram Benelux. “Dancing At The Disco” was the first single from the first album and is a nice funk edged disco track that pours our layers of horns, percussion, bass and the sexy female disco riff. It was a huge shift in the Euro-disco presence of releases prior which were big hits for many major club/disco labels. The early 80s shifted to a lesser bpm and a more funk driven format in many playlists urging a new brand of dance music.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental to create a ReStructure Mix which leaves the hard hitting funk edge intact. A new intro slowly guides in the hard hitting horns and snaps. This one was always a favorite of mine and reminds me of a time where disco music made its mark and was now the big influence on bands and producers to keep the mirror ball alive for the many who were not yet done dancing and romancing.
