Band of Gold is an ensemble pieced into a session group by Dutch producer Jaap Eggermont – the man who made the “Let’s Do It” Medley into “Stars on 45” during the early 80’s. This 1984 project features a medley of hits by Barry White and done quite beautifully with the arrangements and these session vocalist reinterpreting the soul and disco hits again. This one was more of an impact with the top line production and gives each one of the cover versions a new appeal. From the early 70’s when Barry White was bringing his new orchestral fusion to soul music and bringing disco into the light – is captured here with the motion and heart.
I have taken the 12” version of Band of Gold’s “Barry White Medley:” and focused on the beautiful strings and swirling crescendos in disco form for this ReStructure Mix. Much of the content is rephrased and used only in pieces along with some new percussion and extended melodic parts of the dub version.
