ReStructure Mix Update (11/25/25): ”Whispering Waves” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Donna Summer
Donna Summer released her first American album, “Love To Love You Baby” in 1975 - produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. Following the success of the title track a demand for more of Donna’s early talent was in demand. “Whispering Waves” is from the B-side of the project and one of the ballads which play out like a lullaby and love song blended into one. Donna’s vocal range has always intrigued and hypnotized my mind and ears. A rare quality she possessed to take a range and follow it throughout the song and this haunting lovelorn ballad is one of them. The story is set and we are taken into a question of where love goes when it dissipates.
I have taken the album ballad version of “Whispering Waves” and added a slight rhythmic track to this story for this ReStructure Mix. A new outline for those who can’t get enough of Donna and her endless talents.

Thompson Twins are Alannah Currie, Chris Bell and Tom Bailey - a synth-pop band from the early 80s where a shift in dance music was making some incredible sounds. “Love On Your Side” comes from their 1983 project “Quick Step & Side Kick” - produced by Alex Sadkin. One of their notable singles which include a complete feel of the group's sound and at the peak - the best. Heavy percussion follows throughout the song which exudes a distant lover who always seems to make the best of a troubled relationship which is on the breaks. This one also has the early 80s sound which makes the dance scene more exciting and promising as dance floors demand a move onto new ideas and concepts.
I have taken the 12” vocal and dub version of “Love On Your Side” and readministered a new arrangement for this ReStructure Mix. Using a new foundation for the rhythm track and adding a few new breaks to the recipe.

ReStructure Mix Update (11/23/25): ”Do Me Good” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – USA European Connection
USA European Connection is a disco project created by Boris Midney. Heard as a compiled production of sounds and musical segments onto an audible canvas - titled “Art Disco” following his 1979 disco-fication of “Evita” with his ensemble called Festival. The approach is one which evokes a sense of imaginative scenes which eventually blend into one musical piece. The European edge is the mid-70s influence of “Euro-disco” where heavy symphonic strings are lush and in abundance. “Do Me Good” is from the second project from his group USA European Connection from 1979. It is a more mature dose of his use of strings, horns and the wispy electronic touches to take a classical sound into a space arena of the future. It touches more on a display on pulses and sounds as his first project “Come Into My Heart/Good Loving” was made as an outline and began the dance floors obsession with his artistry and audible magic.
I have taken the album version of “Do Me Good” and blended the parts of this movement into a new ReStructure Mix. Making use of rhythmic parts of the original arrangement and giving them more breathing space. A completely new trip.

ReStructure Mix Update (11/22/25): ”Run From Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Bronski Beat
Bronski Beat are Jimmy Somerville, Stephen Granville and Steve Bronski - an 80s synth-pop group whose project “Age Of Consent” from 1984 gave high energy a new direction and outline. “Run From Love” is a single from the 1985 project “Hundreds & Thousands” - produced by MikeThorne. This eerie sounding piece has a haunting sound which plays out among the loneliness of a man whose relationship is a game of chase and chance. A wall of organ fused keyboards play out the mystery and darkness associated here and with Jimmy Sommerville's yearning vocal this one is a recording which plays out the Bronski Beat flavor.
I have taken the 12” version of “Run From Love” and utilized the vocal and instrumental to work a new frenzy into this ReStructure Mix. Taking the rhythm slower with a touch of percussion and a new twist of the arrangement. It works in a new way for both the senses and feet.

Cock Robin is Anna Lacazio, Clive Wright, Coralie Vuillemin, Louis Molino and Peter Kingsbery - a band who is best known for their 1985 song “When Your Heart Is Weak” - produced by Steve Hillage. One of the powerful dance palace pieces of its time where the mid-tempo groove is intoxicating and convincing. After hours club is the first place I think of when I hear this track - a dance floor at 4 am swaying to the beauty of the message and the correct placement of a genre of music and its power. A production which out shines a pop-dance arrangement yet plays easily into the mesmerizing and almost haunting edge. This one makes the 80s worth the transformation of dance music into many independent musicians relaying their art to the dance beat.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “When Your Heart Is Weak” and realigned the message into a new ReStructure Mix. Adding a rough deep bass foundation to the mix to give this one more of the club energy and a new leg to work on.

Lisa B. is a British model who brought the runway to the dance floor with her 1993 track “Glam” produced by Paul Oakenfold, Steve Osborne and Rob Davis. The piece closely aims where Madonna’s “Vogue” left off and is an endorsement with the same energy and release. The full techo-house/rave arrangement gives us places here and there to feel the excitement as well as the reward of being ‘one-self’. A house song that would rock the edge of the dance floor any night and has rights to give permission to release your ‘glam’.
I have taken the original 12” versions of “Glam” to remap this one into a non-stop energy pill in this ReStructure Mix. The hard edged bass key and rhythm keyboards take over the original mix with just time for Lisa B. to give us direction.

Thelma Houston is one of disco music’s top achievements as her dance classic from 1976, “Don’t Leave Me This Way” has yet to cool down. Her vocal is the main attraction of this “soul to disco” cover of the 1975 original of Harold Melvin and The Bluenotes made dance floor surrender. “Fantasy and Heartbreak” is Thelma’s single from her “Qualifying Heat” project from 1984 - produced by Monte Moir of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’ Flyte Time Productions. This street arrangement outlines a realization of the inevitable downfall of a relationship that would not last. Thelma brings her question to her open mind and also accepts here that love is a ‘fantasy’ - a wonderful edge on something gone wrong.
I have taken the 12” vocal and dub versions of “Fantasy and Heartbreak” and have retold the story in this new ReStructure Mix. More of the soft street infused beats bring more reverb and effect to pieces to give the moment much more notice.

Black Box is the big Italo-house project from Daniele Davoli, Mirko Limoni and Valerio Semplici. And features the dynamic vocals of Ms. Martha Wash on the first project titled “Dreamland” released in 1990. A head start to the pop-house movement which began in the late 80s but now matured into a whole new sound. “I Don’t Know Anybody Else” is the second single from the project and is a powerhouse dance track which gives us the variations of Italo-house as it was being created. An outstanding lead vocal from Martha and many moments of it kept alive are sampled releases following. Italo-house majestically shines here.
I have taken the 12” versions of “I Don’t Know Anybody Else” and worked the rhythms into a new layout in this ReStructure Mix. A showcase for the segments that mark this classic and a new way of interpreting it.

Urban Cookie Collective is Danielle Barnett, Diane Charlemagne, Neil Claxton, Rachel McFarlane, Rohan Heath and Simon Bentall. This British band from Manchester became one of the big Euro-house ensembles of the mid-90s. Their big uplifting song “Spend The Day” is their uplifting and celebratory track from 1995 - produced by The Development Corporation. A powerhouse number this is on all fronts with many riffs to rock more than your world. The group pulls a tight high-energy vocal that lasts and gives off that good feeling. A nice positive vibe and much fun to get lost in on the dance floor.
I have taken the 12” versions of “Spend The Day” and laid out a new venture for this little treasure in this ReStructure Mix. I have placed a classic by Voyage into the mix and also mixed up the arrangement for a jolting effect and a nice fade.

ReStructure Mix Update (11/12/25): ”Build Me A Bridge” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Adele Bertei
Adele Bertei is a dancer and singer who released her dance single “Build Me A Bridge” in 1983 which she co-wrote and was produced by Thomas Dolby. The song is one of an estranged relationship drifting farther and farther apart yet the hope of uniting somewhere in the middle before all is lost. The release was successful in its initial tie-in to Bertei also featured on tracks by Dolby and Jellybean at the time. The production is a light electronic fair which outlines the desperation and then a recourse for a solution where the chorus becomes a plea. Dolby gives his touch in creating a rolling bass line over street beats and eventually giving us a few mild crescendos. An outline of what the early 80s were in as synth-pop became the new recipe.
I have taken the 12” vocal and dub versions of “Build Me A Bridge” and laid out a new intro and outline for this ReStructure Mix. I have added a dub-like intro and break to the troubles and used the original bass in a looping charge for a new effect.
