9.9 is Leslie Jones, Margo Thunder and Wanda Perry - an ensemble produced by Richard ‘Dimples’ Fields and debuting in 1985. Their first single “All Of Me For All Of You” is one of the best funk/disco tracks of its time and thanks to the fantastic vocal performance still creates a storm. “I Like The Way You Dance” is their second single from the self-titled album and is somewhat similar but works on its own energy and merit. This time around we find the trio paying tribute to the dancer who captures their eye and devotion as the new excitement is felt throughout the song. The production by Fields is a clean and hardhitting pop-funk edge which makes a run for the floor immediately. These ladies are one of the favorites of mine in many ways but mostly for those harmonies and energy.
I have taken the 12” vocal and dub of “I Like The Way You Dance” and reworked the energy for this ReStructure Mix. A more club feel with a dub presence does this new mix scream with a few breakdowns and use of the exciting riffs of the original.
